I just don't want someone below or the Flames to win. The odds are better that a Canadian team wins over Buffalo, but are also even better that another American team wins besides Buffalo, so...CRAPSHOOT!!!
-
I keep getting Florida. I did it 30 times. Got Vancouver third time thru. Florida got it over 10 times for sure, then NYI, then Buffalo.
-
It reads like Ron Burgundy awkwardly shouting!
-
In case anyone was wondering, Michael Nylander is 6'1". Most of the time, children outgrow their parents....
-
Having Bo anywhere around this team this past season would have been a huge mistake!!! I am glad he wasn't here. There is something rotten. Don't know what yet.
-
Your name.... Seriously though, I'll bite. They obviously won't take Draitsal 1st overall, but maybe he really is the guy they want. They could get him at 3 or 4. They wait until the lottery is over and if NYI gives them that 4th pick, they can get him with that! Or like the rumour which came out before said that they would relinquish their 1st pick for two high end prospects. Maybe they let it go for Yakupov and Edmonton's 1st. Edmonton needs Aaron Ekblad BADLY!!! They would probably even pay more! That would probably do the Sabres better than the 1st overall pick. They could leave with Draitsal, Yak, and probably another great prospect.

Just saw that.Yuck

Really.... Our development guys pointing Virtanen in the right direction.... I am just skimming by, hoping our guys don't screw him up like Hodgson (with his back) or Grabner (wanting him to be more defensive and put on weight, thus losing his speed. NYI told him to lose weight to get his speed up, during his breakout season. It worked.)
-
Assuming they keep going how they are, they can't drop lower than 8th overall, with Nashville winning tonight. Then all we need is a win from Carolina and a loss tomorrow night vs the flames and we are in 6th position!!! I like the idea of Higgins being used to trade up to 4th overall. NYI do not need any more centermen. They could use defensemen though. And some wingers
-
He will be fine. Played 3 games and there's only been one draft since he was drafted. Plus he is a center. Definitely skilled enough to play in the NHL.
-
And seriously, what is with people underrating Ehlers on this board. 5'11" and he is a bit light. Show of hands of all the people who expect him to be in the NHL next year.... No one?! Hmm, okay then. I seem to recall this one really skilled player who's a center who was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2012 who was even smaller than this. Teuvo Teravinen. It has been almost two whole years since he was drafted. Since then he has put on about 20 lbs and the Hawks get more skilled! Putting on weight isn't hard to do when it's your JOB to get a little bigger and stronger. It's not like us all. Average joes who have other jobs and maybe can't find our way to the gym. These clubs have gyms at the arena!!! If we draft Ehlers, I wouldn't sweat it. I mean, who is going to score our goals when the Sedins are gone?! Can't just rely on Shinkaruk and Kesler(if he's still here). We draft him and he sits in the minors for a year, putting on muscle and working on his game. We want him to be the best player in the CHL next year, or damn close to it!
-
So Haydn Fleury isn't afraid to carry the puck up ice eh? How is his speed? Can it translate to the NHL. If it can, we need him. On that attribute alone, I would really think hard on taking him. This team stopped being a threat off the rush after losing Ehrhoff. We need that back if we want to be elite again. Plain and simple!
-
He wasn't on the team because he was injured, man. Jeeze, you are getting pretty worked up! I just feel you are underrating him is all.
-
Come on now. You know that's not what I mean. We aren't talking about stats, we are talking about winning! Don't you wanna win?! Canada came 1st in The Olympics, but Finland came 3rd and 1st in the world Jr's, which is part of the pool we are drafting from! They have obviously taken a step forward and Canada a step back. And let me remind you, we aren't drafting some talentless 4th of 5th rounder at this point. A 1st round pick. One of the better guys out of that group they are developing out in Europe. Of course you take the best talent available. I mean, DUH!!! But say we are picking and the top 5 are gone and it's getting to that point where it's getting kinda hazey on who we should pick, it would probably be a good idea to pick a guy who is coming out of a good development program? I mean, don't you think?!
-
But what are we talking about here?! We aren't talking about a 3rd, 4th, or later round pick. We are talking about a higher talented Finnish 1st rounder. You really honestly think that the Olympics aren't as good as the NHL?! Umm, all the countries best go there! We are talking about getting one of the more promising players coming out of a Finnish group who are very VERY coachable! They beat team USA, who were favored to win the gold! A dejected team USA who seemed like they just wanted to go home instead of go home with a medal. There was more talent on team USA than any NHL team could ever dream of affording!!! I will take a player that puts in the effort and has a pretty damn good amount of talent, than someone selfish, only in it for himself....
-
You just made my point. Thank you!
-
So what does all this tell you about the Fins? Tells me they are very coachable. They work together for the greater goal. I would rather have the pretty good player that's coachable than the outstanding player which doesn't care (Ovie)
-
Would not be surprised at Vancouver taking Kapanen. The Fins have been very good at development lately. Barkov, Teravinen, Kapanen. I mean, the Fins won the gold at the World Jr's. They even beat host Sweden. If we can't get a top 5, picking a Fin is probably the best idea!
-
I think we need the 6th pick or better. If we look at it as of now. Buf: Reinhart Fla: Ekblad/Bennett (Ehlers-Tallon says he likes him) Edmonton: Ekblad/Bennett NYI: Draitsal Calgary: Dalle Colle Carolina: Anaheim(Ottawa): Vancouver: The only guy I see dropping out of the top 5 is Leon Draitsal. Lots of moving parts though. If we can get 6th pick, it's very likely we get someone who should have been top 5 who drops out of the top 5. Edmonton NEEDS Aaron Ekblad. And if he isn't in an Oiler jersey next season, I would be very surprised. Florida could use him, but they don't really need Reinhart. They could use Bennett. Buffalo could use any of the top 3, so I can see Edmonton trading up for it if Buffalo wins the lottery. Either way, getting that 6th pick or better is VERY important!
-
We're talking physically mature. Doesn't mean taller. Build strength in areas that just aren't there at 19.
-
Seriously you guys and your arguing about Drouin. Has anyone thought he may have just been cut because of his size and they want him to grow and put on a little weight before playing in the NHL?! The skill is obviously there and he is better than Mantha. It's just a testament to how awesome last season's draft was! We see it all the time. Kids with tons of skill but not enough size and bulk getting injured. Nuge, Hertl, just to name two. There's way more than that.
-
London is a monster team!
-
It's looking pretty certain the top 5 are Ekblad, Reinhart, Bennett, Dalle Colle, and Draitsal. Highly unlikely one of those guys doesn't drop out of the top 5, which is why we want to be in that bottom 5 of the league. Those 5 are young impact players who each would be on the team with the Sedins still being here!
