  1. This is what can happen when you try to "learn as you go", better for a guy like Prust to work with Virtanen, or a guy like Dorsett and Gudbranson to work Tryamkin. You can't just throw your arms around like a windmill at these proven NHL fighters
  2. Instead of figuring it out, wouldn't it be better if someone was there to help teach him? As a professional athlete figuring it out on your own is a pretty stupid idea. Fighting is a skill like blocking a shot, sometimes it's best to be coached
  3. Until he fights a real opponent. His technique was very poor, last thing you want to see is him getting hurt, like Pedan
  4. I hope Gudbranson can teach him how to fight
  5. Last year I believe, he said something like, he doesn't want to leave but if the team doesn't want me, then why would he want to stay. Since I never had the conversation with management means that they want me
  6. He was quoted as saying if a team doesn't want him, he'd be willing to waive
  7. All he said is that he'll be training in Russia, hopefully he takes it seriously, interesting how the conditioning expectations of the KHL is so different than of the NHL.
  8. Sure I agree you can't have a complete flip, but your conditioning can greatly improve to at least average in 6 months; also don't get me wrong, I think he's going to be very good, but this September will be a true test to see how much can we bank on him turning out. If he comes in out of shape, he needs to be written off, as he should've known better. Not saying we should cut him, but we definitely shouldn't be counting on him. Hopefully everything goes well and he becomes the stud that we need as I think it's possible
  9. Detroit always seems to be interested. Also Mantha seems to be a little on the outs, I bet a deal could be worked around those 2 pieces
  10. Future Captain Horvat, 5-6 years from now

    Ben Hutton | #27 | D

Edler Gudbranson Hutton Tanev Might be a good pairing
  12. I'll reserve judgement until I see more of him. Looks good on paper, we need some size on the right side. Hope he's as good as CDC makes him out to be. I'm just concerned if he was that good, why would Florida choose to let him go? Especially since Florida seems to lose every trade with Vancouver at the beginning and they always screw us in the end.
  13. I think this is the time to shop him around. He's 30, and holds more value now then he will in the future. Especially if we are to keep Hamhuis. I like Edler but it's clear he's not the same player as his mid 20s
  14. If you get a taste of the NHL and you find out your conditioning isn't there, and you don't start fixing that right away, you might as well just write him off as he clearly won't get it. You can have all the potential in the world but sometimes you can't just get it through their skull. At least we'll find out soon if we should be getting excited about this guy or not

I'm looking forward to see if he can put up some offence, we are desperately needing someone on the power play.
  16. Hamonic has rescinded his trade request and supposedly it was only to Calgary, Edmonton or Winnipeg. While I agree with you that I don't believe Tanev is a top pairing D, I think he's valuable in the top 4. It's hard to get excited about a defender that puts up zero offence, physicality, or emotion; but he does stay calm, is in good position and has a good stick. To me that's not a top pairing guy, but that can be serviceable if paired with the right guy

    Linden Vey | #7 | RW

After finding out what he's been through, he should be given another chance once all his crap is done with. Strange how LA doesn't legally have to disclose this kind of information in a trade. Had a tonne of potential as an AHL'er, hopefully he can put it together once his life cleans up
  18. We'll find out by his conditioning at training camp whether or not we should be excited about his potential. If he doesn't come in great shape, I doubt he'll ever get it
  19. Anyone know where I can find that interview with him and the translator from a few days ago? Can't seem to find it
  20. Man did he look good the other day for Boston College on TSN. Too bad the lights going off mid game screwed up my PVR recording and could only see 2.5 periods. Stellar performance
  21. Fair enough, he did play a lot of minutes. You can't argue though that it's hard to find big guys who can skate well.
  22. Very awkward and you could tell he washn't able to keep up with the speed of the cycle. Hopefully it's something he can mature at or his effectiveness at more than a number 6/7 will be questionable. It's nice to have size but it's better to be able to move it. Here is hoping he can figure it out
