I want to agree with this, but Gaudette still needs to do more in my eyes.   He had some flashes last year but he still didn't take ownership of that 3rd line C spot.

As of this writing, it would be a risky move on Benning's part if the Canucks simply moved Sutter and handed Gaudette that 3rd line C spot.   Gaudette needs to have a very strong training camp to really make a case that the 3rd line C spot belongs to him.

We have a lot of natural centres on this team that can cover for Gaudette if he doesn’t deserve it.  We also don’t really have a 4th line this year.  The 4th and 3rd lines are going to be equally as good.

    There are for every team.

True except that not every team drafted in the bottom 10 multiple years in a row.  Washington pretty much guaranteed the playoffs unless Ovie goes down with a season ending injury.  Canucks have a lot more if’s than one guy.  Lots of teams are pretty much guaranteed the playoffs.  However with Benning’s additions since July 1, it looks a lot more like we have a decent chance at the playoffs

Whoa, easy now.  The season hasn't even started yet.

Wait until at least the first half of the season to admit to being wrong.

What if Miller sh*ts the bed like LE and finds himself being a healthy scratch.  Not likely, but still a possibility.

Very true, but my initial opinion has been changed, who knows how it turns out, but I do now support it.

  4. This is just insane.  What a great contract.

Ferland signs for less years than Tanev.  This looks either really good for Vancouver or really bad for the Penguins.  I think both :)

JB has completely transformed this team’s physicality in 2 weeks.   Reaves or Lucic would put us over the top!  However with Ferland, I’m off the Lucic push.  Just try to dump Eriksson please

Your gonna end up in someones sig.

I don’t see why I would be, I didn’t say we wouldn’t, I’m saying a lot of things need to happen to make the playoffs and we would need a lot of negatives to fall into the bottom 5.  How is that not the truth?

The Canucks were in a playoff position in Janaury, but then the D especially suffered injuries, and the youth couldn't carry them. Pettersson was figured out a bit and he wasn't producing as much down the stretch. They never had good enough depth either. I think they'll be better this year with the upgrades on D. Pettersson will prepare himself for the little time and space he gets now. Boeser will finally (hopefully) be healthy. Add in Miller and Hughes. They should be entertaining and competitive. Luckily for the Canucks, other teams in their division lost key players and could struggle.

I agree, but on the flip side,

    What if:

    Boeser isn’t his old self

    Pettersson has a sophomore slump

Markstrom can’t repeat his breakout season

    Miller doesn’t find chemistry

Hughes struggles in a top 6 role

Tanev and Edler go down with injuries

Then this year will be a bottom feeder.

We all hope everything goes well and everyone performs as best they can but likely some of these what ifs do happen.

All I can say is I’m excited for next year and getting rid of Eriksson and Sutter would push me over the top.  Especially if they can add some muscle

Well, I can't open the link at work, but predicting the Canucks at #10 is laughable. How did they come up with these rankings? Just looked at last year? lol

People assuming this team is a playoff team is laughable.  Sure if everything pans out the way we want, maybe but there are a lot of what ifs.

Think it'd be a good idea anyway since he's taking up a roster spot we need, not to mention cap space even more. I can't believe he turned out to be so bad offensively but i don't think any of us did...

I didn’t love the signing but I thought he’d be at least a consistent 50 point guy.  We just need to get rid of him, not sure he’s good to rub off on the other guys
