  2. RL Cap sounds like either a rapper name or an author name. R.L. Cap
  3. Podkolzin would have gone in the first 4 picks if he wasn't Russian.

His post draft interview was pretty good. He made it clear he wants to get bigger and stronger before coming to NHL. But he also said straight up his goal is the NHL.

Exactly. He made it very clear that he wanted to be in the NHL. There is no reason to believe this "Russian factor" crap should be a factor.

He's going to be a beast when he gets here.

@Baer. Regardless of semantics, the Canucks got a kid who’s currently 6’2”, 190, has skill and grit out the задница, and wants to get bigger and better. The Russian factor worked in the Canucks’ favor this time.

  4. Yes, I've heard that. I've also heard his biggest knock is consistency and work ethic. But he really turned on his jets in the playoffs. I mean, 20 goals in 23 games...
  5. #13 Raphael Lavoie (-25) #33 Egor Afanasyev (-12) #75 Ilya Konovalov (-10) Lavoie was a huge whiff by me. But I don't think ANYBODY expected him to fall out of the 1st round. Egor and Ilya were good picks IMO. I'm actually surprised Kono went in the 3rd round IRL. I figured GMs would pass on him and just sign him. Hopefully Oilers don't kill him.
  6. Leason sank like a stone, but I don't care. I knew what I was getting with him. Could step in immediately on a good caps team. Every Scout report on Teply I could find unanimously had him going in early 3rd round. He fell to the fourth. Chicago got a pretty good steal there. Misyul was picked 18 spots before where I picked him, so good pick there by me. Gawanke is already signed and will play for Manitoba next year. All in all a pretty weak draft for me, no guys that look like studs but there's a chance all 4 develop into solid depth pieces.
  7. "Why is nobody picking Nils Hoglander?"
  8. Leason to Washington. Always like when my picks are taken by good teams.
  9. Wow. Lavoie really dropped. Attitude problems? Bad combine? Oilers got a steal. Also good to see Egor go to Nashville.
  10. So, apparently Egor has decided to play for the Windsor Spitfires next year. Hopefully that will expedite him to the NHL.
  11. Edit: I'm wrong I think you are right about the 2 years thing, since he's based in NA
  12. It's still a reach. Even Burke said they should have traded down. Edit: However I'll give credit that you predicted he would get picked high.
  13. What happened with Lavoie and Kaliyev? Both were projected mid-1st round.
  14. Pierre McGuire said he'd be surprised if Barrie doesn't end up as a Canuck.
