  1. #13: C/RW Raphael Lavoie Expected Ceiling: Top-6 NHL ETA: 1-2 years Player Comparable: Ryan Getzlaf #33: LW Yegor Afanasyev Expected Ceiling: 2nd liner NHL ETA: 2-4 years Player Comparable: James van Riemsdyk #75: G Ilya Konovalov Expected Ceiling: Starter NHL ETA: 2 years Player Comparable: Semyon Varlamov #106: C Mikael Hakkarainen Expected Ceiling: Bottom 6 NHL ETA: 1-2 years Player Comparable: Saku Maenalanen I put an emphasis on drafting players I thought would be closer to the show. Lavoie is a big powerforward which will suit this league nicely. Afanasyev is the biggest project, committed to Michigan State, he could be there for 2-4 years. However, we felt he was a low risk, medium reward pick. Konovalov dominated the KHL at 20 years old, posting a remarkable 1.89 GAA and a 0.930 save percentage. In 2 world championship starts for team Russia, Ilya had a 1.44 GAA and a 0.917 save percentage. He's dominated at every level he has played, shown by his back-to-back MHL championships, MHL playoffs MVP, and his KHL Aleksei Cherepanov (Best Rookie) Award. Once his contract ends in 2021, we expect teams to be lining up to sign this guy. Lastly, is Hakkarainen. Linemates with Afanasyev in Muskegon, I decided to draft him after he signed an entry level deal with the Chicago Blackhawks, who drafted him in the 5th round in 2018. We fully expect him to play the entire year in the AHL, potentially cracking the roster in 2020-21.
  2. Yes but you see I am biased, as Fridays are my Saturdays.
  3. Most GMs save the trading for the draft. I doubt many trade talks go on in those hotel rooms.
  4. Why the hell do we have to wait until 5pm? Why not have it in the morning
  5. That depends... Have I heard his name before? Let me see... Ketola....Mikkola...Salda.... I'm good....
  6. Imagine it's late in the third and it's tied. Your team scores but it was waived off. You use your challenge because the referee is CLEARLY wrong. Toronto, being completely unreliable as the playoffs showed, muffs the call. Your team is not only penalized but you lose a goal. The other team scores on the powerplay and you lose. Losing a time out was bad enough. Coaches are rarely ever going to take the risk of a 2 goal swing. Makes the challenges useless.
  7. Penalizing coaches for getting a wrong challenge is ridiculous.
  8. Adam Ollas Mattson has signed a 2 year deal in Sweden. We no longer require his services. https://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockey/a/LAkw6P/klart-malmo-varvar-svensk-back-fran-ahl
  9. He has been skating for a while now
  10. Newhook is a very raw talent and also a small player who plays a small game. He would need a few years of seasoning. Not sure if that's the type of player Canucks need. I see him going in the 15-20 range rather than top-10, same with Podkolzin.
  11. Boldy is exactly the player the Canucks need. Think Jason Zucker but bigger.
  12. Minnesota selects Mikael Hakkarainen from the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
  13. Last call if anybody is willing to trade two 5ths for my upcoming pick, otherwise I already know who I'm picking.
  14. 10+M in cap space is not worth a late 1st and a couple 2nds.
  15. Pick #106 is available for a deal similar to this.
  16. I will take KHL rookie of the year Ilya Konovalov
  17. Regardless, I assume this problem has been rectified, and I'll be repicking shortly. If we could pause the draft for 15-20 minutes. I'd appreciate it.
  18. Shouldn't the signing be vetoed since draft eligible players can't be signed mid season? He wasn't even 20 yet when this signing went through.
  19. Fantrax says he is a free agent.
