The Canucks will be the next Canadian team to hoist the Stanley Cup

I hope people watched the Boston Toronto series because there was alot of lessons to be learned from that. We cannot expect to go into the playoffs and not address issues like team toughness and defense. These are glaring issues right now and we might be another 3-5 years getting our younger players the experience and seasoning they need to be true playoff team. We are skilled but we are exceptionally fragile. Anyone who wants to argue with me over our fragility should look to last season and tell me we dont have a fragile team. -
Yeah we shouldn't trade our pick unless we can move up. People drastically undervalue a top 10 pick its like its either we get the first pick or we get nothing. That is not the case at all to be able to pick the top 10 best players is huge for us. Then you factor in JB and his ability to draft? We cannot trade that pick down.

Id take a chance on Karlsson even with the injury troubles he is legit that good. Listen for him to even be in a serious conversation for a trade is crazy talk. Ottawa would never have let that guy go if it wasnt for the stuff with his and another players wife that went down. He now could be available and teams will be absolutely clamoring to get him. We need to be one of those teams.

I love ballzy posts like this and the research and presentation are impeccable well done ill thumbs up you just for those two. Hard to say wether or not I agree with you. Im actually waiting to see what happens with Tryamkin in general and Pettersson in the playoffs to make my decision. On one hand Jim Benning has been great with the drafting but on the other hand he has traded for players that just dont gel well with the rest of the team or cannot buy into our system. To me it comes down to: A. Tryamkin needs to make the team and be an impact player. B. Pettersson needs to show he can maintain mental discipline in the Playoffs and always be a threat. Needs to show he cannot be shelved because 1 player on the other team is a Byfuglien or a Marchant type. Once his playoff "metal" has been tested we will know what we have but not until then. So really time will tell.

Im so happy people a recognizing the huge gaping hole we had/have with toughness, theres a complete green light to take liberties on this team now. Roussel cannot bear the weight alone. I hope Tryamkin is coming back next year thats all i have to say. My wouldnt Archibald be handy right now good thing we have Motte instead.
-
He DID however rip through the ducks, their an NHL team right? I cant remember? I think size is one of the factors in wether or not the skill transfers, a very important one. It will be interesting to see how both Pettersson who I think is under weight for his frame and Tryamkin whos grit and toughness have been proven play their seasons out.

Its a cute response but it makes no sense its not apples and oranges I don't think the Swedish league is miles ahead of the KHL im not sure I follow you.
-
If I were Green I would give the man the ice time he demands, let him hang himself on his own leash. Maybe he succeeds though I cant think of a reason he cant be in the top 4 by December. Maybe sooner.
-
Ok I agree with you stats don't matter in any league but the NHL so theres really nothing special about Pettersson than according to your own logic? Hes just a nobody.
-
Agreed he needs work, the faster we can get him around pros to train him the better.
-
I just argue hes better than when we last had him sir, he had 109 penalty mins too.
-
He had 25 points in the KHL, he made the allstar team in the KHL, he was named player of the month for 3months or maybe 2? He only got better in the KHL not worse. Where some players go back to the KHL and basically sulk, he went back and got better and hey he still likes us. Hes not a lock for anything until camp, but technichally who is a lock?
-
Your just plain wrong sir. Go bury your head back in the sand. That's the kind of point of view from someone who only watches the highlights not the full game. He had a great clean break out pass, his shooting accuracy needed some work same with his skating ill give you that but what he lacked in finesse he made up for in shear physical domination, I don't know how else to put it to you. Do you need to see that Ducks game again? AND yes he IS talented he doesn't just have the tools he knows when and where to use them. Brad Richardson not withstanding. That man has a spirit that matches his size he will be the center piece on this D-core for YEARS to come, other teams will covet this player like a fycking magic lamp that grants wishes quote me.

Don't be so dramatical, its all about perspective... IF hes not coming back why not just tell the media and call it a day they wouldn't be bothering him anymore and that (by your inflections) is what he wants. IF he is coming back then maybe he was told NOT to say anything at all, ESPECIALLY to Vancouver media. I wouldn't blame Try either for not talking to them, bunch a self entitled, pompus jackasses with an inflated sense of self worth. Most of them. Listen to them next time those weaksauce questions asked with almost an air of laissez faire meets melancholy.

Wow, I'm actually encouraged by this. Its an intentional message for sure, I also like the fact that he has not changed his profile pic. There is hope yet. Fuk I love this kid.

I wonder how many players we identify as generational actually didn't have that great of a start to their careers. I wonder how many took time to flourish. People that poo poo Tryamkin as a generational player always reference players who had great starts. I just don't agree that we know what Tryamkin will or will not be. I don't agree with your assessment that because those players had amazing rookie years that exclusively means that they can be generational. So by your rationale if I came into the NHL and my first 3 years I had like 30 points, and then the rest of my 10 year career I have 90+ I would not be a generational player because of those first 3 years? Makes no sense I think your being to literal in your interpretation. Tryamkin was actually amazing in his first year, he positively made a difference every. single. time. he was on the ice. He made mistakes, but he was crazy to watch. Scratched a real itch for Vancouver fans due to his dominance physically. I almost think its sabotage that hes not on the team right now. Like all arguments about generational aside, how in gods name did someone not lose their job when he left? How? If I owned this team the management group would owe me a fycking head for that boon doggle of a colossal cluster fyck.

Hey thanks for being a sport and answering my questions pal. We don't agree at the end of the day, but atleast we can exchange ideas and be civil. TY.
-
I think your under selling Tryamkin on a whole. I think he was the most exciting player on the ice last year, just like Bure was his 1st year. I honestly watched him closely like I actually watched the games, all of the games not just the highlights. I sincerely believe he was a solid puck moving D man. I thought his break out pass was sharp and accurate and I thought his slapshot was getting better and better, we haven't had a serious slap shot threat back there since Salo. You ADD on to all of this the fact that he was dominating physically(Remember the game vs the Ducks?)... I'm sorry that we cannot seem to find common ground. IF he develops the way he was trending before he left, and adds offense? Yes we have a generational talent on our hands. I know you don't agree but I don't think you watch hockey.
-
What qualifies you to say that? You have such a small body of work to analyze. I digress however I cannot win any argument FOR my point of view as long as Tryamkin stays his white azz out of the NHL. I just don't think anyone can know either way because of the nature of how he entered the NHL combined with were he choses to play. Question for you though was Bure a generational player to you?
-
I think your definition of "generational" needs to be re defined. It isn't exclusively yours to decide what that means. Generational talent to the Canucks could mean something different then say to Edmonton. Someone mentioned Pronger as a generational talent, and if that's true then yes, I stand by my assessment that Tryamkin COULD be our Generational talent. He COULD be. Problem is hes not playing in the NHL and may never again. Everything is just observation and here-say. I don't think theres really a call for anyone to be policing the use of the word generational. Let us have our delusions, when/if he returns THEN we can have some serious talks about what he is or is not. I will say I stand by my earlier assessment, I think he has that potential.
-
Were not making direct comparisons to other Elite D, so much as we are trying to predict the celling for this guy. He has the potential to be an elite level defenseman. If you don't think that potential is there then you didn't watch him very much last year did you? I did. I tell you hes solid gold.
