My best guess of the deal is: Sutter, Virtanen, Lind, 2nd We aren't parting with any top prospects so they aren't wanting to take Eriksson and rightfully so.

Wonder if the Canucks want to see what Tyson Barrie wants in free agency? tough year for him in TOR and the might not get huge money due to COVID. Wonder if he has interest in coming to VAN on a short term 2-3 year deal in the 4.25-4.75 range? Feel as though this could be why the Canucks aren't talking contract with Tanev right now. Might circle back once they have checked in on Barrie

I'm okay if we lose Marky. No way should we go 6x6 on a deal. Demko showed against VGK he is close to if not already ready for the #1 job. He is 25 in December, he isn't a 21 year old rookie. Yes, Marky is good but he's 30 and starting to get injured(knee). Time to save that money and go upgrade our defence!

If Benning doesn't have Eriksson going the other way he has failed this deal no matter how little he gives up... Eriksson,Benn,Juolevi,5th is the max I'd pay now Otherwise go pay OEL 10.5 million in actual dollars over the next 3 seasons 31.5 Million for OEL next 3 years Loui Eriksson 5 million over 2 years Jordie Benn 2 million They save 24.5 million for their owners over 3 years at which the cap is expected to be flat. They should take it and run

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Zack MacEwen

Happy to have him back! Great signing! Him and Motte are built for bottom six and are cheap! -
[Rumour] Tyler Toffoli to hit free agency
Outsiders replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Man this sucks... I'm so upset, but I guess they see Hoglander/Podkolzin coming in the wings. Can't believe they can't move any money tho. Why the f are we going for OEL at 8.25 if we have no cap to sign Toffoli at 5. Also, they better not bring Tanev back if they're letting Toffoli go -
If we then could pull off a trade/offersheet to Tampa for Cernak OEL-Myers Hughes-Cernak Edler-Rafferty Then Rathbone takes Edler's spot after next season!

Jake DeBrusk is also playing a factor in why a deal between BOS and ARI might not work. That is the player BOS wants to send the other way. Mostly because he's an RFA and they are having trouble agreeing to a contract. Rumours are Jake DeBrusk wants 5+ million on a long term extension. ARI is trying to shed cap in the short term as well as future so I don't see how trading for Debrusk helps them.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Canucks don't give up a 1st round pick. Sutter, Juolevi, 2nd round pick, 4th round pick Very similar to the Mccann 2nd and 4th for Gudbranson only we are sending them a roster player. Arizona won't want to retain any salary on a 7 yr deal so why should the Canucks give up a top assets to acquire him? All reports indicate they need to shed money and the relationship with the player is damaged. If they were to retain money I could see a 1st rounder involved or a higher prospect (Rathbone) being attached. But until that happens I don't think ARI can ask for a lot. Especially when it is only two teams bidding.
-
I agree completely! I wouldn't trade Pod either, however my best guess is ARI would want him if they take Eriksson
-
Doubt BOS would trade for him giving up assets when they could just re-sign Krug. Which means the Canucks would be the only real fit I wonder if we could steal him out of ARI For Loui Eriksson, 1st round pick, Podkolzin

[Rumour] Alex Pietrangelo to test free agency
Outsiders replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
He is 31 in Jan. NHL might not even have a proper season next year so by the time everything is back to normal he is 32. Any team that gives him anything more than 4 years is making a big mistake. Canucks obviously can't do this but i'd do something like 4x11 if I was another team. More money but shorter term -
That is a fair deal currently, but in a normal world Toffoli was getting 5x5 at a minimum this offseason. I'm excited if we do indeed get Toffoli signed to that deal tho. I really believe he's a 25-30 goal 60PT player here. He would just add so much to our top 6!
-
The problem was it was a stupid contract tho. It made sense to bring LE in to play with the Sedins but why 6 years? The Sedins had two years left on their deals. Why did we need Loui here another 4 years after that? I understand he wanted term probably but we could have given him 4x7. Again, I don't blame Benning for bringing Eriksson here, he had great chemistry with the twins. It was just the term that didn't make any sense. Said that from day 1.
-
The problem is with Tanev is are you willing to give him a 4 or 5 year deal at 5 million? Because he wants both the term and money. Hughes can play with just about anybody. Remember when Hughes looked great with Luke Schenn? Hughes needs a reliable D but that can also help move the puck. Biggest problem I noticed VS Vegas and STL is Tanev's inability to move the puck. Countless times he coughed puck up/lost board battles and couldn't get puck out. I'm not paying Tanev 5x5. He can't break the cycle, Tryamkin can!

[Discussion] Free agent opinions to re-sign or not
Outsiders replied to grumpyone's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Let Marky walk Let Tanev walk Re-sign Toffoli 4 years 5 million -
If anything this playoffs showed who we can win with and who we can't. Our bottom six needs to be changed. This is what our bottom six should look like starting next season. __________-Gaudette-_____________ Motte-Beagle-MacEwen I wouldn't be upset about trying to get an upgrade to replace Gaudette and get more of a 2way forward. I just didn't see enough from Gaudette in the playoffs. It was his first taste and he got good experience, although being sheltered. I feel management will give him another shot and I am on board with that if they do. Has to go: Roussel - I like his game and pushback but the team doesn't play that kinda game. He always gets reputation calls and it hurts the team. I feel we can find an upgrade cheaper than 3 million that puts up more points and plays better defensively Sutter - Had like 3-4 solid games this playoff run but he faded quickly. He just can't keep that high level of play for more than a couple games before he fades out. He is way to soft to play in the bottom six and Beagle is better on the PK. 4.3 million for soft hockey is just disappointing. Would be huge if we can move him with 1 year left on his deal! Virtanen - Showed flashes but again was a non-factor most nights. Never know what you're going to get from him. He had a couple important goals but just isn't the type of player I think we win with. He had a golden opportunity to play a physical game against Vegas and STL and chose not to. He needs out of Vancouver, as there are to many distractions here in his hometown. Not to mention coming off 18 goal season he has Arb rights so would likely cost us $3million. Pass EDIT - Levio - totally forgot about him. I'd 100% bring him back on a 1 year deal. I really liked his game and he would play really well with Gaudette!!! Heres the thing. We got Hoglander, Podkolzin, Lind coming. Hoglander I think can make the team out of camp. Podkolzin can only come like half way through the season. Lind is probably a half or full season away. So worst case if we have to keep Sutter and Roussel for a season to bridge the cap so be it. Although, we could probably trade them close to the deadline and just call up Lind/add Podkolzin b/c his KHL season finished. Just food for thought Our top 6... Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Toffoli ( 4 years 5 million ) A couple changes could be made. Toffoli - I wouldn't go over 5 million a season. However, I do believe you win with a player like him going forward. I really feel his injury held him back in the playoffs and I see a 25 goal 50PT player. Pearson - I would keep him here for next season. I really liked his regular season and I felt he played great with Bo. A solid 200 foot player that wins his board battles and can score. The problem with Pearson is he is a UFA after next season and we will most likely will have to let him walk (Especially if we keep Toffoli). He could probably get 4.5 on the open market. Hoglander should be ready to go by then. Boeser - I'm not ready to give up on Boeser yet. I want to give him another full season to prove himself and see if we can get him back to 20-25+ goals. He will be motivated and want to prove everyone wrong. Half the problem is the misuse him on the PP which is frustrating. He is a shooter, having him stand in front of the net is pointless. We have 2 years before is QO goes to 7.5 million. So plenty of time to see if Boeser is in our long term plans or not. Defence Edler-Myers Hughes-___________ Rathbone/Juolevi-Stecher Stecher - after the playoffs he is perfect for our bottom pair. Can play up and down and that is important. If we can work out a deal in the 2.5 million range for 2-3 years that would be great! Rathbone/Juolevi - One of them is ready to make the jump. Stecher is a perfect partner on the 3rd pair for either of them. Tanev - Have to let hime walk. His inability to move the puck was prominent this playoffs and you just can't pay him 5 million on a long term deal with his health. Fantenberg - Resign for 7 D. He played well in playoffs. Liked his physicality and compete. Benn - Bye Goaltending See DeNiro's post above IMO I think you go with the younger goalie that will grow with his core. He just showed his is ready for prime time. Sign a cheap UFA vet to support him. I think it would be foolish to give Markstrom 6 million on a long term deal. Especially with our cap problems. Demko is 24. Marky is 30. With saving all this cap (Tanev and Marky walking) We can focus on upgrading our D to really insulate and support Demko. For next season at least: Miller-Petey-Boeser Hoglander-Horvat-Toffoli Pearson-Gaudette-Levio( perfect for our 3rd line with Gaudette) Pearson drops to 3rd line to help spread offence and help Gaud in D zone Motte-Beagle-MacEwen Edler-Myers Hughes-___________ (UFA or trade) Rathbone/Juolevi-Stecher (solid puck moving pairing) Demko UFA goalie (Domingue?) Plenty of cap to make upgrades on D and bottom 6. At forward we just have to remember Hoglander,Podkolzin and Lind are coming. Would rather really shake things on on D!

We are a young team and didn't take advantage on that 5 minute PP. We looked exhausted mentally and physically. Future is bright, tough decisions to be made. Bottom six everyone has to go but Beagle Motte Gaudette and MacEwen. Rouse Sutter Virtanen gotta go unfortunately. We must of had multiple guys hurt in top six. Horvat was a no show all series and looked gassed. Obviously JT had a leg injury and wrist issue. Toffoli was no show and Pearson looked done. They played a lot of hockey in a short period and just had nothing left. Overall we have to play it smart and no get suckered into stupid deals. Got Podkolzin and Hoglander coming on wings. Demko in net. Markstroms 6 million just went to 5 max after Demko showing

Honestly I'd say your only way to stay competitive is to bring in youth. We have to pay our best players and then let everyone else fit in around that. Hoglander-Horvat-Boeser Miller-Pettersson-Toffoli (4x5.25) Pearson-Gaudette?/Shutdown center-Podkolzin Motte-Beagle-MacEwen Edler-Stecher Hughes-___________ ( Demko + ) Rathbone/Juolevi-Myers Marky ________ ( New backup) Hoglander will have a chance to crack our roster out of camp, which I believe he will make it. His defensive game has matured a lot and can put up points (He isn't a Goldobin) Meanwhile Podkolzin will be coming like half way through the season if we even play. Podkolzin will fit in nicely on the 3rd line. Having Pearson and Podkolzin on the wings who are both solid in the D zone should help Gaudette. Although Gaud needs to get stronger, improve in face-offs and round out his defensive game I'm willing to give him a shot on that line. All 3 are capable of putting up 35 PTS. Ideally tho I would like to trade Gaudette for a d-man and try to upgrade that 3rd line centre position. Need someone with a strong defensive game and excels in the F/O. We need a Sutter but not at a 4 million dollar price tag. More like 2.5-3 mill max. Like Not saying trade all these guys before the season starts. BUT Trade Loui Eriksson ( I'd hate to give up Kole Lind but I feel like teams will want him, we are RW heavy so he is expendable. I'd rather give up a late 1st round pick tho) Trade Roussel for a pick Trade Sutter for a pick (He has value after the playoffs he has had!) Trade Virtanen (Has had decent playoffs and career year. Get best value either D prospect/pick) Trade Gaudette for a D Demko ( Traded for D man maybe in a package deal? ) That would get you roughly 13 million in cap space up front (as Hog and Pod are only a mill each) Gotta let Tanev go. Will want 5x5 we can't do that.
