There are those who love Canadian tennis star Genie Bouchard through wind and rain and stormy Miami nights.
And there are those who denigrate her for her off-court popularity and all the hype that has surrounded her for more than a year, since her breakthrough performance in reaching the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2014.
The Canadian's victories bring out the love from one corner and ... mostly silence from the other. Her defeats – and Saturday's loss to qualifier Tatjana Maria in Bouchard's match at the Miami Open was a tough one to take – bring out the same love, but even those boobirds who normally sit on the fence come out on the other side. It's almost like there are people out there who get joy out of her struggles.

It's not pretty out there in social-media land even if on Bouchard's own Twitter and Instagram accounts, all remains sunny and cheery. You have to hope she turned off her phone and went out to load up on tequila shots with her twin sister, who flew down from Montreal to cheer her on.

After all they are – as of a month ago – of age.
