I agree there was no TACT at all in the OP 48mph, but the truth of the matter is that it is actually that black and white. There is no deviation in the scripture and their literal meanings for the true believers.  You cannot read an entire chapter and choose to omit 2/3 of it in your interpretation or understanding. Sadly that is precisely what a large majority of devout religious followers do.

The basis of religion is that an omnipotent being has complete dominion over all reality. There is is no way around this.

I don't think those in the church expected to be struck down by lightning. Faith couldn't have prepared them for that. That's not how it works.
