  1. Going out of one's way to create an echo chamber so fans with differing opinions feel like they'll be chased out or ganged up on if they express them is pretty toxic imho. Much moreso than someone saying they have issues with ownership or management.
  2. The Canucks are a middling team. Not one of the worst in the league, but certainly not one of the best. We have a solid young core that's missing a couple of key pieces, and our role players are subpar for the most part, and we generally have decent goaltending. The team has incrementally improved over the last several years (I attribute this to improved personel, not coaching). Was the bubble an anomaly? Yes. Was this season an anomaly? Also yes. I don't see why this is so difficult for some people.
  3. I think a lot of the "upward progression" being discussed can be attributed to the fact that we managed to add at least one star player to the lineup every year since Green made it to the big club. Just sayin' Edit: Also, the Clarke effect should be taken into consideration when discussing our "upward progression". You know, the one coach that is actually leaving the team.
  4. So at the end of the day the only coach that won't be with us again next season is the one that actually managed to do his job properly? Fantastic.
  5. With the gift of hindsight, it really isn't all that surprising that he had a bad +/- this year. He's always going to be the type of player that makes himself a defensive liability from time to time. It's the nature of his game. Sure, he can stand to improve things on the defensive side of things, but we don't want him changing his entire game in order to compensate either. Last year we had Tanev and (to a lesser extent) Stetch to help insulate him. We're going to have to find someone that can play that role long term. In order for Quinn to do his thing, he has to be able to rely on someone to cover his ass when things don't work out.
  6. Beating TO twice in a row after coming back from ravaged by COVID comes to mind.
  7. That's kinda the point. I don't think either team really wants to lose their guy, but if both guys want out, something like this could make sense for both teams. At this point I think it's more speculation than anything, but there are some rumors that he's disgruntled. Also, like WHL Rocks said, nobody is taking Virtanen, and I don't want Ristolainen anywhere near this team.
  8. If the rumors of Miller wanting out hold any water, would a Reinhart for Miller swap make sense?
  9. I'd just like to point out that the Canucks finished with 40 or more losses in 7 of their first 9 seasons in the NHL. Carry on.
  10. All of this arguing about the GM. I wonder when folk are going to wake up and realize that ownership is the issue here. It all starts from there.
  11. I'm not opposed to giving JB another draft to work with, nor am I opposed to letting him negotiate Petey and Hughes contracts, since he did pretty well getting Bo and Brock signed. It's everything else that scares me.
  12. You're right. I forgot he was renewed while he still had a year left. Still, same logic applies.
