  1. So is playing a super dirty game and getting your obnoxious fans to bombard the refs with chants so they'll be too afraid to call your dirty-ass team a viable strategy now?
  2. Jesus Christ this Cane team is dirty. The crowd is so obnoxious that the refs are afraid to call any more penalties on them. Seems like they could be called every shift.
  3. I figured this would be a loss. Back to back AM games against a good Eastern conference team. This was always going to be a longshot. edit: Maybe I spoke to soon xD
  4. I'm honestly not in love with our odds today. Second half of a back-to-back, AM game against a good eastern team. Wanna be wrong, but I'm predicting a loss today :/
  5. I think the person overseeing the whole thing certainly deserves some of the credit.
  6. Vague answer incoming, but the in regards to the two defensemen, their "replacements" simply aren't apparent yet. Any number of things could happen over the next few years. We have a glut of strong forward prospects in our system. Perhaps we move one or two of them for defensmen or defensive prospects of similar caliber. Perhaps they're in our system and just haven't made the leap yet. After a slow start, Woo has been doing much better as of late and could still theoretically be the one to take on Edler's role in a few years. Perhaps the "replacements" are free agent signings. Ehroff and Hamhuis were free agent signings and became integral parts of our D core. Or perhaps we'll simply have a D core that's structured differently than D cores we've had in the past, with more emphasis on offense.
  7. At this point I think it's still Makar's to lose. Crazy to think that there are two rookie defensemen having historic rookie seasons at the same time. I'm just praying that nothing stupid happens like Olofsson, Kubalik or Suzuki getting the nod for the nomination over Hughes because the NHL seemingly has an aversion to having multiple Dmen in the Calder race.
  8. I can't speak to the accuracy of the statistics being kept, but like @Rob_Zepp said, the official stats are very much so at odds with what you're saying.
  9. He has 27 giveaways on the season, which actually ties him with Stamkos for the third least amount of giveaways of anyone in the top 30 of league scoring, with a giveaway/takeaway +/- of +9, which ranks him second of all players in the top 30 of league scoring.
  10. Canucks didn't have any powerplays and were in the lead for most of the game. It's not surprising he didn't get a ton of ice time. And he screwed up pretty badly on the Isles second goal as well, so yeah.... Actually, he was getting a bit more time with Petey and Miller. Regardless, I'm not worried.
  11. Habs forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi has been reassigned to the AHL. Remember when a handful of Habs fans were saying he was better than Pettersson last year?

  12. So we trade a 23 year old with 31 points who is currently playing on our top line and is on a cheap contract + one of our top prospects for a 27 year old with 28 points that's on a more expensive contract that can walk away as a free agent after this year? Makes sense. I mean, it's better than the first deal I suppose, but why are we moving a 2nd rd pick for a 29 year old depth player when we likely won't have a 1st rd pick this year? Losing two of their best players and taking Eriksson's salary makes this brutal for Minny, and improving our D while losing a ton of firepower up front and yet another high pick makes it pretty bad for us too. It's a rare case of both teams losing a trade. Also, you already traded Virtanen once. So at the end of the day we have an improved D, shed Eriksson's contract, we have a deteriorated offense, we're a lot older on the whole, and we've lost a high end prospect and two second round picks.
  13. For me the most disappointing one might actually be Cassels. After his draft+1 and in particular his draft+2 seasons there was every reason to believe that he was going to be a stud, and he never even came close.
  14. It's crazy to think that we still have a prospect pool this strong in place. Forward-wise, we're set for the next decade.
  15. We still have a bunch of prospects marinating that will be filling those depth roles while still on entry level deals/cheap contracts. Podkolzin, Hoglander, Lind, Madden, Rafferty, Wu, Jasek, Rathbone, etc....Not all of them will make it, but some of them will. Depth really isn't an issue for us going forward imo. In terms of top 6 forwards, we're probably set for the next decade or so, and the most glaring organizational hole we have is a game breaking Dman that can play the right side. Depth isn't a huge organizational concern right now imho, which is why I don't think it makes sense to move a gamebreaker like Boes in that kind of deal.
  16. So move 2.5 years of Eriksson AND a 2nd for a young guy that's going to be contributing to our squad while he's still on an entry level deal? Nah.
  17. The one Oiler I don't hate. Awesome to see that the Kassassin has found a home.
  18. Isn't Bryam a LD? We need help on the opposite side, unless we want to play Hughes out of position (we don't).
