  1. The idea that the team simply underachieved this season snd should do better next season would be a lot easier to swallow if we hadn't already seen this movie last year. I'm not ready to have my heart broken again.
  2. Full rebuild isn't happening. It should, but it isn't. Time for everyone to take their meds and deal with it. Move Myers with retention, sign Livingstone, trade Boeser to Pitts for Pettersson (D), resign Bear for one year, move Garland for picks or a good, defensive minded 3C (or pick one up another way) and let's see what happens.
  3. Give him one year if the price is right. He's solid as a 5-6 that can play in the top 4 if necessary, but I wouldn't give him the moon just because he's a righty.
  4. Welp, it seems like everyone knows the team isn't going to rebuild properly and is again going to opt for the quick fix. Might as well accept it and hope for the best.
  5. Whenever I see posts like this I wonder "Who are you trying to criticize?" We have an AHL caliber blueline and an AHL goaltender, only two NHL caliber centers and AHLers all throughout the forward lines. Outside of literally just throwing the games what exactly are they supposed to do?
  6. Of course we finally implement a solid goaltending duo when we're trying to tank.
  7. Considering Miller is a Canuck and Horvat isn't, no it doesn't.
  8. A lot of the "milestones" that get brought up sometimes can be pretty arbitrary, but this is super impressive. Quinn Hughes is going to be one of the highest scoring defensemen of all time when he finally puts a bow on his career.
  9. Friendly reminder that Eric Gudbranson signed a 4 year contract with an annual cap hit of 4 million dollars per year last year. But apparently nobody will touch Tyler Myers at 3 or 4 million dollars for one season.
  10. I like how people are turning on Pettersson and Hughes because they don't want to be on losing teams for multiple years in a row
  11. More than a little extreme. It's gross. Even if someone is pro tank, just say you want his offense to slow down ffs.
  12. Man, I wanted him moved too, but the crapping on Miller is getting really tiring and is honestly pretty distasteful.
  13. Random question. Is there some sort of rule against a team signing a goaltender that's just a dude so obese that he fills up the entire net?

Somebody that heavy would blow out their knees pretty quickly.

Look at Robin Lehner's injury history - he's the heaviest goaltender in the league.

Ben Bishop was tall and heavy, and also eventually succumbed to injury.

This is why Ian Clark is constantly chasing "length". Not necessarily size, mass, heft... just really long, flexible limbs.

You mean Goldberg from The Mighty Ducks movies?

@chon derry you're right but butterbean would still leave gaps in a hockey net. The degree of obesity needed to take up the whole net is obscene.

  14. It's nice to see the roster getting younger, although it is looking to me like we're just making similar mistakes to one's we've already made. We've already traded a 1st rd pick for an already established NHL player, which seems very much like a Benning type move. An NHL player that, like Nate Schmidt before him, doesn't seem like the best fit for this team on paper. I hope I'm wrong about that. Then there's the strategy of targeting prospects and young players instead of picks. A strat that, again, we've already seen. Rati, Kratsov and Bloom could very easily just be the next Vey, Goldobin and Etem. There are reasons that their respective teams gave up on them. Although, for the price, Bloom and Kratsov are still good gambles. Then there's the fact that it looks like they may have already botched their first 1st rd pick. Lekkerimaki's stock has already taken a nosedive. Obviously the first reaction to this will be "We just drafted him and you're already writing him off?", but c'mon, how often does a high end prospect fall off a cliff and then regain all of their stock? Then there's the fact that, yet again, we've failed to remove any significant money off the books. Boeser, Garland, Miller, Myers and OEL are all still here and still making their millions. Saying "we ran out of time" only works for so long and saying "teams weren't willing to meet our price" doesn't hold any water when just having the contracts on the books hurts us. Then there's the handling of the Bruce situation and the black eye that gave the organization, and that's to say nothing about the Rachel Doerrie situation. (She seemed like somewhat of a sh#t disturber anyways, but that's another black mark on management for not being able to see that before hiring her in the first place) On the plus side, it is nice to see things on the AHL side going well. Hopefully that ends up being a good sign for the future development of our prospects. But still, most of the stuff we're seeing now just looks like a continuation of what we were doing under Benning. I want to be hopeful, but we've seen this movie before.
