  1. Oh joy. Now I get to watch the two most hated men in hockey talk about woke bull$&!#. Yay.
  2. We're gonna need our higher end prospects to be contributing on entry level deals when were legitimately competing. Also, we've got pretty solid offensive depth on the right side atm. Virtanen is breaking out, Boeser is putting up Boeser-esque numbers, and even Eriksson is chipping in. Not to mention Leivo, who's currently on the shelf. Moving Madden for Palmieri doesn't really address our biggest need, which is on the blueline. I'm not moving Madden unless it's for a good young defender.
  3. Just taking a look at Juolevi's stats, his +/- has taken a serious hit over the last couple of games. For those watching the games, is that more a product of the team's overall play as of late or is it more on Juolevi himself?
  4. Miller had 47 points in 75 games last season. Keeping those numbers in mind, I feel it's disingenuous to say that he was "a third line player coming off a poor season". 47 points in 75 games is a phenomenal season for a "third line player". The only way in which 47 points in 75 games is a "poor season" is if you concede that the player is a top six player, and even at that it's a pretty big stretch.
  5. Hey, remember that time we traded a conditional mid/late 1st and a 3rd for a 26 year old player that wound up being a PPG top line center with a 59.3% FO percentage? Good times.
  6. You seem to be pretty happy about that statistic. Perhaps you're on the wrong board?
  7. Awesome job by Petey. Only forward in the competition and he actually held the lead for a bit.
  8. Anyone else feel that earthquake?

Definitely felt it.  I'd just woken up from a nap and felt the bed jiggle a couple of times; heard a couple of things in the kitchen cupboard shift a little.  Pretty mild--felt stronger tremors before

      Felt nothing in Langley.

  9. I think the fact that Tanev has played all 49 games so far has to be up there as well.
  10. Love the thread title, especially considering that this might be the most mundane proposal I've ever seen on these boards xD As far as the trade goes, the value seems about right, but we have a bit of a glut of forwards as it is, and we're pretty weak on RD. If we were to move Stetcher, I think I'd rather it be for a straight pick if possible.
  11. While I do agree that the trade is skewed in the Rangers favor here, you have to look at the value of the pieces involved as they sit right now, not when they were drafted. Lundkvist's value has skyrocketed since being drafted. The guy is having a Pettersson-esque breakout season and would obviously demand a hell of a lot more than a late 1st, which is where he was drafted. Juolevi still has potential, but his stock has certainly taken a massive hit since his draft year, with some people going to far as to proclaim him a full on bust. While this is obviously way premature, he most certainly isn't worth the 5th overall that we used to draft him. I doubt he's even worth a 1st rd pick at this point. You also didn't bring up Andersson in your analysis, who probably has comparable value to Juolevi right now. So let's consider Andersson/Juolevi a wash and remove that part of the deal. It essentially becomes 1st/Virtanen for Lundkvist. I said in the thread on HF that I thought it would be foolish to sell on Virtanen right now, just as he's breaking out, but considering our forward depth going forward, the lack of a gamebreaking RD in the system, and just how high end the prospect we'd be landing is, I don't think the price is all that unreasonable. edit: Pettersson-esque is an exaggeration. Realized that as soon as I hit reply, but still, the numbers are super impressive for a 19 year old in the SHL, and considering RD is one of the most difficult positions in hockey to fill, the kid has a ton of value.
  12. We've been a pretty good place for college guys to land lately, so I don't think we have to worry about that.
  13. Someone else on the board brought up this point, but I think it bears repeating. The haul that the NYR gets for Kreider is going to shine a light on just how good that JT Miller trade was for us.
  14. Point is is doesn't address our most glaring need. If Dumba were involved in the proposal things might be different, but as the proposal sits right now it's asinine.
  15. Terrible. Moving a 22 year old near PPG player in the NHL and one of our very few right handed defensive prospects for a 28 year old Zucker and a small Russian that may or may not ever want to play in the NHL and who's game may or may not translate over. Not only do we give up a sure thing in Boeser, but we also weaken our already shallow right handed D pool. For an older player that won't be anything in 5 years and a maybe. The hardest of hard passes.
  16. This still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. We’re counting on these prospects to be ready to contribute while still on entry level deals, thus saving us from having to spend the money on free agents. If we trade our best prospects away to get rid of bad contracts, we’ll still have to replace those players somehow, and we won’t have any prospects on entry level deals to do it. So what do we do? Go to free agency and overpay, putting us right back into a cap crunch, only with even more term to get through than the contracts we currently have on the books, and still leaving us without any decent prospects? Trade picks for players with decent preexisting deals, which would leave us without prospects OR picks? Ship out part of our core, which would pretty much kill any chances at seriously contending?
  17. It’s difficult to know what the dollar figure will end up being, but I think both sides will be pretty OK with something like a 2 year bridge deal. Something in the ballpark of 3.5 mill per season seems reasonable to me on a short term bridge deal.
  18. It actually came from 650 this time. Just goes to show that all the media in Vancouver is pretty awful.
  19. So apparently Hughes isn't one of the top 50 players in the league.
  20. There's literally nothing to this. Just Sat Shah saying that he hopes Bracket is retained.
  21. Please don't link that idiot Taj's tweets. Guy is a moron wrapped in a dunce.
  22. We’re still feeling the effects of what he did to us. Guy was a warrior for us, but at the end of the day he bent us over a table and went to town. Eventually he’ll get in, but the wound is still too fresh. He dishonoured his team, his fans, and his uniform by handcuffing us like he did, and I’m not going to forget it. Apologizing for handcuffing us might be a start. I don’t give a $&!# about what he said in the media. What I care about is are the very tangible results of his actions.
  23. Being a 19 year old Dman performing at a clip close to a PPG in the SHL is nothing to scoff at. I don’t necessarily think Boeser ir realistic, but certainly Podkolzin +. It’s the type of move we have to make imho. We’re going to be short a first rd pick either this year or next year, and that pick will likely take a few years to develop. We need a young Dman that’s ready now, and we have the forward depth to make it or something similar happen. I really think Benning needs to be proactive in trying to find a top pairing Dman to play opposite Hughes.
  24. With our forward depth the way it is, I'd go for it.
