  1. By Canucks standards this was pretty revealing. Most interesting thing to me is the Tryamkin stuff.
  2. If it nets us Kapanen, that's one thing, but there's been no indication that Kapanen is involved in these talks. If Benning is looking for avenues to improve the team, it hits me as weird that he would be targeting someone that likely wouldn't be any significant improvement over someone like Hutton or some of the guys that are going to be available in free agency. If there isn't more to this than just Zaitsev for an asset, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But like I said, we'll see.
  3. We'll see, but there's a reason that he's a "cheaper option". He's just not that good. And even at that, his cap hit is still 4.5 mill per season and doesn't expire until 2024. And rumor has it that our interest in Zaitsev goes beyond Benning doing his "due diligence". This bothers me. But we'll see...
  4. Nothing in your post disputes that we're showing significant interest in Zaitsev.
  5. The only way I make a deal for Zaitsev is if Kapanen or Nylander are coming our way as well.
  6. And of course we're in hard on the most uninteresting player of this offseason.God forbid we do something like sign or trade for someone of actual relevance.
  7. As much as TO is in cap trouble, there's no way in hell they accept that deal.
  8. Don't care what the "reviewers" on Rotten Tomatoes say, I freakin' loved Godzilla: King of the Monsters!

I remember as a kid the urban myth regarding King Kong vs Godzilla movie, where it was alleged to have two different endings.  In Japan, Godzilla would emerge as the winner whereas over here, King Kong would win.  No I wasn’t a kid in 1962 heh....I saw it one Sunday afternoon on TV.

I'm seeing it on Saturday. Stoked

  9. So this deal is predicated on us signing a free agent that we could very well end up signing anyways? It's not like we don't have the cap space to throw an offer at Panarin right now. Also, it's not like GMJB isn't capable of moving contracts out. We may be stuck with Eriksson, but a guy like Sutter could still be moved. Hutton's rights can be moved. Edler may not be resigned. Tanev could be moved. There are options for creating even more cap space if GMJB wants to without shipping out the best RW we've had since Bertuzzi was in his prime. And besides, what if Panarin sees that Boeser is gone, knows how badly that will nerf our forward lines and affect our overall place in the standings next season, and says "Y'know what, no thanks"?
  10. Why? We have Gaudette to take the role, we have Granlund who can also fill in that role if need be, and we have Madden waiting in the wings. A 3C is literally the last thing we need. Focus on upgrading the top 6 and top 4.
  11. He's 22 and just came off a 44 point season in his first full year in the league. By comparison, Hansen never reached 40 points, and even he was arguably a top 6 player by the time he departed. Just for some perspective, he would have been 4th on our team in points, behind only Pettersson, Boeser and Horvat.
  12. Hey mods, can we close the Proposals section 'till after the draft?

I think it's best left to the imagination.

But some may already be gone.  :)

  13. He'd look nice on Horvat's wing. If we landed him and somehow signed Panarin......*drool*. Panarin-Pettersson-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Kapanen
  14. I'd rather sign Panarin without moving our pick for Subban tbh. Don't think we can afford both of them if we plan to resign Edler anyways.
  15. It'd have to be either a legit top 2 Dman or a legit 60+ point top 6 forward, preferably 25 or younger for me to consider it. Certainly nobody in their late 20's or older.
  16. And so long, any hopes of Johnny Canuck making a comeback any time soon. Maybe he'll have a shot when we tweak the jerseys again in another 10 years or so
  17. Yeah, this is great. The 'Vancouver' was redundant, so I'm really glad they removed it. I even like the shoulder patches better in white. The pop a bit more. Really happy with the ne design. I'm so glad they didn't scrap everything and change the logo completely.
  18. But we'd still have the player we picked at 10th overall as well.
  19. So? Top 10 picks are good. We got Pettersson with a top 10 pick. We got Hughes with a top 10 pick., Maybe, but we won't have to cough up a top 10 pick to land a free agent. I'd much prefer one of Panarin/Skinner/Ferland on a more expensive contract + our 10th overall to Zucker on a more affordable contract and no 10th overall. We're a rebuilding team. We're ALWAYS holding out for a top end player, regardless of position. Which also gives us one more player we have to protect as well. And one Benning would be under a lot of pressure to protect even if he flops here, as Benning will have traded a top 10 pick for him.
