  1. I think he's one of these rare talents that can contribute even when they're a bit uncomfortable. I imagine he'll start off looking a little uncomfortable for the first 10-20, yet still put up some pretty good numbers, and once he really gets into a groove, look the &^@# out!
  2. I like Pettersson with Goldobin. So sue me.

Petterson with anyone's gonna be good o.o last night was my first time seeing him play and I've never been so excited for one player since boeser but we'll have to go back in time for tommi santala or like shirokov but we all know how that turned out LOL

Lol. Stop pretending like you have some controversial opinion.

  3. If he keeps playing like he did last night....like he was shot out of a canon...then he'll be in the lineup opening night. Possibly having some chemistry with EP certainly won't hurt his chances either. If he keeps it up and is able to put up some numbers in preseason expect him to slot in on EP40's wing once the season starts.
  4. Elias Pettersson is good at hockey.

  6. Higgins. Booth. Why you so mad, bruh? And again, regardless of what your opinion on the matter is, assuming the motive of the person is a pretty $&!# thing to do.
  7. But, if say in two years, we're a playoff team again and we are up against the cap, that contract may end up looking a lot worse. But regardless, the point is that you can't assume motive when someone says they don't like a contract.
  8. OR he just doesn't like the contract.

  11. Spoken like a true indoctrinated statist. Not making any sort of distinction between a natural act like being born and a ruling body forcing you to give up your property may be the most idiotic, disingenuous strawman justification for robbery that I've ever heard. Your complete and utter disregard of natural rights and your belief in the necessity of a collectivist state speak to the level of your indoctrination. You've been conditioned much in the way that someone in a religious cult is conditioned. It's all you know, and you must defend it with as much vigor as a a blind believer would defend their religion. The actuality that you are yourself a slave to the state is lost on you because you don't have the ability to recognize the fact that you are a slave to the state. You have been indoctrinated your whole life to believe what you are supposed to, to toss justice to the wayside when it suits you, or better yet, your country. The idea that the societal functions that the government takes care of (or rather doesn't) could be taken care of voluntarily doesn't even take root in the brain, as you've been raised to think selfishly by the state over the course of your life. I will say this, your conditioning has obviously been quite effective. So kudos to the state for that. The insane stretches you make in order to justify a system in which each individual is continuously raped of their liberty is quite astounding, especially when systems where liberty is at least somewhat allowed to thrive tend to lead to prosperity, such as the free market system. But yeah, your complete and utter refusal to acknowledge basic truths, such as theft being morally wrong, speaks to how complete and thorough your level of indoctrination is. I don't blame you for your lack of values though. I don't blame you for your inconsistencies. I don't blame you for your close mindedness. I blame the state. A state that has morphed and contorted a free thinking human being into a government sponsored puppet. I just hope that one day you're able to cut the strings. Cheers, mate!

  13. Taxation, in and of itself, is legalized plunder, as are trade restrictions, regardless of whatever supposed "good" may come of it. This is indisputable, and infringes upon the natural rights of every person. Natural rights that trump "positive rights" which in actuality are merely privileges passed down by the state at the expense of freedom. Furthermore, this "social contract" (an arbitrary term if I've ever heard one), in addition to being non-consensual, can be used to justify virtually anything, so long as it is in law and sanctioned by the state. It was once written into this "social contract" that blacks weren't entitled to basic human rights. Would you tell the African Americans living under Jim Crow, which at the time was the law, and therefor part of this "social contract" to "move to where there is nobody living to start their own dystopia"? It is interesting that you end your post by basically resorting to the same "Love it or leave it" sentiment that right wingers have used for decades. Furthermore, the idea that libertarianism is entirely incompatible with collectivism is false, so long as each individual of said collective consents to the collective taking priority in any particular situation. Furthermore, there is nothing in libertarian doctrine that explicitly forbids cultural collectivism. In fact, I would go so far as to state that I firmly believe that a united culture would be a necessity within a truly free society, and that the success of said society would either succeed of fail on the back of the aforementioned "united culture". Incidentally, I don't stand by the "open borders" policy that many libertarians advocate specifically because I feel that a sense of cultural cohesion is important, although I do understand the sentiment and how my stance on immigration may stand in contrast to many of my other beliefs. The core values at the heart of libertarianism are A) consistent application of the non-aggression. principle, and B] absolute property rights. Taking that into account, one that is diametrically opposed to all libertarian principles could naturally be assumed to be opposed property rights and non-aggression. But hey, to each their own.
  14. Yeah, freedom is only beneficial to the super rich. Better to hand over control to the state, who are nothing but just. Better to allow the state to legally plunder everyone else's money without their consent because they know what's best. Listen and learn.

Apparently he was cancelled from appearing on the Tonight Show after he had already showed up because some senior producers were actually crying because he was coming onto their show.

My country is quickly becoming European-ized.  :picard:  I wonder how long until most people here want to become pacifists.

Norm MacDonald on what happened between him and Fallon in the green room:

      Quote

“Then Jimmy came back in, said can I talk to you buddy?” Macdonald said. “He was very broken up about it, he said ‘I don’t know what to do..it’s just that I have so much pressure, people are crying. Senior producers are crying.’

“I was like good Lord, bring them in and let me talk to them, I don’t want to make people cry,” he said. “Jimmy said come back whenever you want, but I think it’ll hurt the show tonight.”

And that idiot Kathy Griffin felt the need to jump on the bandwagon too.  What's funny is that she said something stupid that doesn't further her case.  She said Netflix told her she couldn't get a special because they already have a woman comedian.  Although last time I checked, they had a whole bunch.  Could it be that a lot of people don't think that she's funny doing stand-up and/or Netflix doesn't want to shell out 7 figures for her?

@SabreFan1 I dunno about the whole "Europeanized" statement. There are plenty of Europeans that I've met in my travels who would laugh at and shake their heads at the pathetic state of political correctness sweeping the globe. It seems to be equally prevalent in North America as it is in Europe.

That being said, what a joke these senior producers are. Crying because of Norm MacDonald being on a show? Will these waifs go into cardiac arrest if something legitimately horrible happened to them? Just absolutely pathetic.

Kathy Griffin has been a hack of a comedian since forever. She's beyond irrelevant.

I know that Europe is made up of plenty of countries with diverse peoples, but taken as a whole, I believe that they are seriously on the decline and I think it has a lot to do with how they conduct themselves.  If it wasn't for Germany, the EU probably would have fallen apart by now.

  18. That was an awesome read. Thanks for posting.
  19. Just read "The Law" by Frédéric Bastiat. It's amazing how relevant this essay is in modern times. Maybe more relevant than it's ever been.

  20. He looked decent overall in the two games. Here's hoping he can continue to play well and perhaps even improve as we get into main camp. At the very least, he should be able to improve upon his performance from last years camp, which was admittedly kinda terrible.
  21. Talk about a player that's been driven into irrelevancy
  22. I'm not convinced Pettersson is able to do what Boeser did right away. We have to keep in mind that Pettersson is still going to have to adjust to the smaller ice. While he seems to be doing that now, going up against NHL players is a different story. Also important to keep in mind that Boeser joined the team in his draft + 3 season, while Pettersson will be joining the team in his draft + 2 season. That does make a difference. Also important to note that Pettersson will likely be jumping around different positions. Playing some center and some wing. Boeser never had to deal with that. I think Pettersson will still have a great rookie season, but I don't think he'll put up the same PPG as Boeser did. Eventually? Absolutely, but I think there are just too many things working against him in that regard right now. Happy to be wrong though. Yes, our depth is better, but even with that, we lost 150 points between the twins and Vanek. Other than Pettersson, I don't see any of our prospects stepping in and making a significant dent in that number right away. Next year, maybe, but it's a hell of a thing to ask right now.
  23. Our prospects are great. I'm very very very very obviously not arguing that. What I am arguing is that prospects that aren't Boeser take time to develop. They're not there yet. They're aren't just going to step into the lineup and be able to play lights out right away, and it's unfair for anyone to expect all of them to make that significant of a difference right away. Just be content with the fact that we're going to get a few of these guys in the lineup this year and be content with the fact that we're going to get a very high pick next year, bringing us one step closer to finishing our rebuild. We don't need to be good yet.
