  1. Pratt bringing up Boeser as a potential trade chip for a top 4 pick this morning. I have no words.....

No denying Pratt is a complete and utter moron.  However, I would ABSOLUTELY move Boeser for one of the top TWO picks.

Before I even touch Boeser, I'd consider putting Edler, Tanev on the move for a top 4 pick before moving any of our top prospects. We need to keep them as they represent our present and future. Pratt is an dumba$$ lol

  2. Please pull the trigger on a deal with Dallas, JB. Everything fits. Dallas is willing to move their 3rd overall for an established Dman, of which we have a couple. We have a 6 million dollar goalie coming off the books, meaning that we could take on Niemi for them if need be.

i think dallas could get a better deal from other clubs than an aging veteran that they would have to protect. if i'm dallas i want a player i don't have to protect. maybe a vertanen. i'm not saying we should trade him. just saying that what i would want along with hutton.

We can wait until the roster selection occurs then make our moves. I'm pretty sure that's why the NHL is quiet, everyone wants to make their moves after the 21st.

Watch Dallas trick JB into thinking they have a deal and then choose a "better" deal from Buffalo.

  3. So I haven't seen or heard as much of Necas as I've seen on most of the other players projected to go around where we're picking? Can somebody break it down and give me the skinny on him and why he seems like a likely JB pick?
  4. Confused as to why everybody wants to trade Granlund. Just turned 24. Put up 19 goals in 69 games in his first full NHL season, and did so with a mangled wrist. Coming into next season with his wrist fixed up and knowing that he's capable of being a prolific goal scorer, he's one of the guys I'm most excited about watching next year.

Could be timing? He's 900k AAV next season(great bargain)..but that's not so meaningfull to our current, mediocre lineup.

On the right team, that cap value could provide great depth for spring wars in the PO's. So you take back a higher priced contract, & that GM should have to include another great piece(pick/prospect, whatever?).

Employing this philosophy, I'd argue the return for Bonino SHOULD have been far more than we received. His contract was larceny. WE(!) had to add..which was ludicrous.

@S'all Good Man Agreed. While I like Baer, he has a few seasons under his belt and has yet to find the consistency that a top 6 player should have. I'm certainly not saying he can't find it, but he's a tad older than Granlund, and not as complete a player imho.

I think the Baer vs Granny thing just comes down to utility, Granny has shown he can be used in more situations with some success (checking line, occasional C, with the Sedin's, etc) and Baer is a decent LW, probably a 3LW on most teams. I like him a lot but Granny just has more tools.

  5. Word. Getting pretty sick of seeing this back and forth every time I check this thread.
  6. There is no evidence that JB didn't pick the player he thought was best, misfire or not.
  7. Yeah, we're not taking Tippet. I fully expect us to take either Glass, Pettersson, or one of the 3 top ranked defencemen (assuming Mittelstadt is off the board).
  8. I'd love to see him spend the season with the Sedins next year. He looked really good with them in the brief time they spent together. But whatever happens, please, for the love of God....KEEP HIM AWAY FROM SUTTER.
  9. It's fun to completely and utterly destroy a troll.

  10. OR maybe he was being sincere? If he was simply going through the motions, as you suggest, I doubt very much he would have used the word "perfect". But no, let's question the sincerity of the kid for no reason. That seems more fun.
  11. Colorado counters by offering McKinnon for the exact same price you named, + Horvat.
  12. "It would be perfect to head out to VAN, would be a great spot" I'm starting to like this kid.
  13. Probably not. The dude is poised as all hell. From the moment he stepped into our lineup, he was one of our best players. Honestly, I think the whole idea of letting a high end prospect "marinate" in the farm is overstated. Sure, for someone like Virtanen, who's had to deal with some significant setbacks, it might be the right thing to do, but, assuming Boeser is at least on the same level as he was when he arrived this last season, I simply don't think there's much reason to keep him down. Worst case scenario is he struggles, at which point the option is still available to send him down, but if he earns a spot, which he likely will, it wouldn't send a very good message to him or to any other young guns we might have coming to keep him out of the lineup.
  14. Ahh.. I wouldn't be upset if we landed him. However, like you, I'd prefer Mittelstadt. Doubt he'll be available at 5 though
  15. Wasn't one of the knocks on Glass that he didn't have much in terms of creativity and was more of a meat & potatoes type player?
  16. It'd be a nice day to get Horvat signed. Just sayin'.

  17. Just to put things into perspective, Bo Horvat would be Edmonton's third line center.

Isn't RNH the 2nd line center? I think Horvat is better than him tbh.

Draisaitle (sp?) Plays mostly on McDavids wing so I don't think he should count.

Hence Horvat would be 2C on Edmonton.

Let's keep tanking till we land a few franchise players  /sarcasm.

&^@# Edmonton and &^@# the Oilers. Horvats a solid piece, but we need more and it'll come in due time.

      @ken kaniff

I agree. I would not trade Horvat for RNH straight up

  18. No, but 8 or 10 points is, and with virtually nothing being guaranteed, I'll take being a fringe team hoping to luck out and land a lottery pick over being a cellar dweller and hoping to luck out and get a lottery pick any day of the week.
  19. Considering that the 3-10 slots in this years draft seem virtually interchangeable, I really wouldn't have minded finishing 7th-8th if it meant having more to cheer over the course of this dismal season.
  20. &^@# tanking. Doesn't work any more.

Hoping this puts an end to people complaining when the Canucks win meaningless games late in the season. It was getting pretty embarrassing.

Tankerz will reply that this is just a small sample size, that eventually the numbers will turn out.  May be true but who wants to tank for a large sample size?

  21. I hate the NHL. Maybe Tram was right for bailing.

  22. I agree, and those are my top 4 as well. If we run into a scenario like that, maybe we can package our pick for a lower pick and another pick/prospect?
  23. I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was...
