  1. I don't think the worry is that he'll be a bust. In fact, I'd go so far as to say he's likely one of the top 2 or 3 safest picks in the draft in terms of reaching their potential. I think the worry is that his ceiling may not be high enough to be a legitimate "number one" center.
  2. Jeff Goldblum will be in the next Jurassic Park film. I can now die happy.

Doubt many of you were even alive when this show was on (too bad it didn't last long; thought it was pretty good):

  3. This. The first step is acquiring skill players to bring the team back to respectability. The next step is to start making moves to fill out the lineup. That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to moving some players if the right deal were to present itself, but to maximize the value we get, it may be better to wait for our young forward group to develop and start putting up some significant numbers before pulling the trigger. Might be the difference between landing a Torres-esque player and a Landeskog-esque player.
  4. Butterfree, why you no come back yet? :'(

  5. Wow. There are actually people out there that think Boeser will start in Utica!? XD XD XD XD

The Canucks are desperate for any PR. Boeser is NHL ready enough burying him and or Goldobin or Dahlen won't sell tickets.

      Where's Wellwood

      Goldobin: NHL

Boeser: Prob NHL but could start in AHL the same way Stecher did.

      Dahlen: AHL

@Where's Wellwood I'd rather Dahlen spend a year playing in the Swedish Hockey League than Utica next year.

  6. Somewhere, Mike Gillis is laughing his ass off right now.

  7. So, anybody know if there's a giant defenceman available in this draft around one of the spots we'll likely be picking? Preferably not Russian.
  8. Flames gone. Now just need the Leafs and Oilers gone and I might be able to start enjoying these playoffs.

The Blackhawks getting swept would be nice too. I don't have anything against them particularly but then Pittsburgh would be the only team left that has won the cup in the last 8 years. If someone knocks them out, at least we'll have some fresh champions.

yes! bye flames! take toronto and boston and chicago with you! if you have time pick up edmonton and pittsburgh while you are at it

  9. I'm leaning away from Vilardi for that reason as well. Same with Glass. Basically, if we can't land one of Patrick, Hischier, Mittelstadt or Liljegren (Lilly obviously isn't a center, but could be the PP QB we need), I'd consider trading down or moving the pick entirely.
  10. Welp, if anything, it means he's focused on getting a contract done and resigning.
  11. I'm hesitant about #25 Patrick. I think #27 Patrick might be the safer bet.
  12. Side note: Kopitar wasn't a top 5, or even a top 10 pick. Just saying that where a player is drafted and what they're projected to be going into the draft isn't always how they turn out.
  13. The guy that spent a massive chunk of the season injured is the "safe pick" now?
  14. I'm happy Kassian's doing well and all, but I can't help feeling a bit ripped off.

  15. I think these are pretty safe bets for the best 5 players available. The four centers I think are the best bets to become what we need. Mittelstadt might be a little boom or bust for some peoples liking, but at this point I'd rather take the chance on someone that has the potential to become an elite offensive center over someone that, while maybe a safer bet, probably wouldn't have as much offensive potential. However, if we end up with 5th overall, and all four centers are already taken, I'd go with Liljegren. He'd hopefully fill another need (PP QB), and free us up to take the best center available next year, as next years draft is projected to be better, and we'll likely have another high pick.
  16. My top 5 as of right now. 1) Hischier 2) Patrick 3) Mittelstadt 4) Vilardi 5) Liljegren
  17. I believe Columbus still have to greenlight giving us the pick this year, which they likely will.
  18. Yay!!! I won the day! I can now die knowing that I've done something with my life.....

  19. If you want to discuss Gudbranson, go to the Gudbranson thread. Don't hijack the Willie thread.

  20. So, Green, Gallant, Crawford or Ruff?

Hitch or Crow. Not sure why Green would want to start his career with this loser club.

I would be against hiring Ruff.

  21. It's funny. Skating ability is probably one of the things I'm least concerned about in young players/prospects early on. Look at Horvat. His speed was probably his biggest concern coming out of the draft, and now he's one of the fastest players on the team. Long story short: Skating can always be improved upon. I think what's most important in young players is hockey IQ and drive, which Boeser seems to have in spades.
  22. I have never hated a man more than I hate Willie right now...

If the dude gave two craps about this franchise, he wouldn't have used the challenge. But, generally, his deployment of players has been awful. Rewarding those who play it safe, while punishing those who take risks. It hasn't been all bad, but I shudder to think what he would do with this team over the next couple of seasons when he starts getting some real talent to work with.
