  2. Looks like Granlund is out for the rest of the season. Wrist surgery. Benning stated that he's had an ongoing wrist injury that they've been treating with regular maintenance. Makes what he's done this season that much more impressive imo.
  3. Agreed. He's already proven he can play at the AHL level.
  4. Jesus Christ, that's kind of overkill, especially considering he's already spent most of the last two seasons in the AHL.
  5. Yup, he's obviously a complete write-off, seeing as how he didn't make it into the NHL the year he was drafted.
  6. He isn't turning pro next season?? I think it's pretty obvious he's not gong to sign with us. He's probably calling Boeser as we speak and trying to convince him not to sign with us as well. They're going to look great in Oiler jerseys.
  7. Radovan Bondra 59 games played, 32 goals, 31 assists, 63 points in the WHL. Adam Gaudette 36 games played, 26 goals, 26 assists, 52 points. So, while Bondra is a decent player...No. He is not better than Gaudette.
  8. We are really missing this guy right now. A mastodon of a Dman with a great outlet pass could have helped a lot in the Montreal game.
  9. I see no reason why he can't reach 30 goals next season, barring injury.
  10. Why is the ground covered in a fresh coat of snow....IN F%$#ING MARCH!?!?

I left the great white north for the beautiful we(s)t-coast... I'm thoroughly disappointed.

    3. Odd.

      Odd.

I had a huge wtf moment when I woke up and saw snow on the ground

  11. Love that first quote! Kid has some confidence for sure.
  12. Burrows averaging 2 goals a game as a Sen. Fire Benning!

you mean fire WD for holding him back :sadno:

You wonder how many players Willie is holding back offensively. My bets are he's fired this offseason.

i fear that if we make the mistake of trading Virtanen, he will play to his potential...

  13. Prospect pool rankings are kind of misleading, as they don't seem to take into account young players that have already made the team. Guarantee our ranking would be a lot better if Horvat, Bear Cheese, Hutton, Tryamkin, Granlund, Stetcher, and Gaunce were taken into consideration. Sure other teams can say the same thing, but in the span of a couple years we've seen a hell of a lot of young players make the team.

TSN also did, for each team, a 'top 4 players under 23' list and then ranked each team. That's more informative of the contribution of young players to a team. Prospect, by definition, is something that is uncertain. I think it is a lot easier to predict the trajectories of Bo, Granlund, Baer, etc.

Then I guess I missed your point. I thought you were arguing for all of those players to still be considered prospects so that articles critiquing a teams prospect pool would rate Vancouver (or other teams) a little higher, or project them with a more favourable future.

And sure, those young players have a bearing on our future. I don't think many people would argue that point.

@Green BuildingTo be fair, my post did stem from some things I was reading on the HF boards. Basically, people were discussing how low our own prospect pool was ranked, and not taking into account how many of our former "prospects" have already made the team over the last few years.

  14. It'd be nice, but expecting it would be a mistake, and setting yourself up for disappointment.
  15. It's certainly nothing I'd count on. Arizona, Colorado and Vegas likely have the top 3 spots locked up. We're likely looking at a similar situation to last year, with us picking around 4th/5th.
  16. I do somewhat agree with you. High hockey IQ is incredibly important towards ones success going forward, and while I do feel that our prospect pool is lacking in the size department, I think drafting the best player available should be the top priority. Trades for more physical players can always be made down the line.
  17. Awesome. I have the feeling that this kid will be a "reel gud" player for us going forward.
  18. I don't expect the Canucks to do anything else of significance today. They're done.

Same....and I'm cool with that. We sold off some vets, cleared some cap and got some good prospects. I'll call this one a win.

  19. Seems as apt a time as any for the mods to finally close this thread, seeing as how Burrows isn't a Canuck any more.
  20. Just saw it. While I'm over the moon about this deal, saying he's "better than" a player that has 43 points in 60 games in the NHL is lunacy.
  21. Dahlen. Do we really need him?

      Yeah, he's got cool karma

  22. Well, the same can be said for any prospect, especially one this young. I think there's genuine reason for excitement here.
