  1. I doubt Tampa would be willing to move Cernak, but I like like way you think nonetheless. Theoretically speaking, if we were to then sign Copp, Lazar, Mikheyev and Kuzmenko, which 17 million should easily cover we'd be set Pettersson- Copp- Boeser Podkolzin- Horvat- Mikheyev Hoglander- Lazar- Kuzmenko Highmore- Lammikko- Lockwood Hughes- Cernak OEL- Carlo Rathbone/Dermott- Schenn
  2. So Copp would be the potential replacement for Miller, Mikheyev would be a budget option to replace whichever one of Boeser/Garland we move, and Lazar as desperately needed bottom 6 center depth. Interesting.
  3. Solid proposal. Probably more than the Kings would be willing to cough up, but I'd be cool with this.
  4. McDavid will score the winning goal for the Canucks against the Quebec City Poutineries. Cale Makar and John Cena will get the assists.
  5. Nice try, Burkie. Give Alf his account back!
  6. Sounds good. Our player development under Benning has been pretty atrocious, so it's nice to see that facet of the organization getting a face-lift.
  7. If you're able to remove the human element and discuss/criticize the kid like everything is the same the day after his father died, then you do you. It hits me as disrespectful, quite frankly, gross, that this board couldn't even wait a couple of days before getting back into this. But hey, that's just my opinion. Like I said, you do you.
  8. I understand the want to rely mostly on the tried and true "eye test" approach, but to downplay the impact that analytics has had on the current game would be foolish. I'm all for a more analytical approach towards team building going forward.
  9. Whatever happens, I think it happens during this offseason. From the Canucks perspective, his value will never be higher than it is right now in a trade, and we can't afford to let him walk to free agency. From Miller's perspective, he can't bank on having another season like the one he just had next season. If he wants to cash in, it's in his best interest to sign now, unless he really wants to leave.
  10. I wouldn't do it it, but it's nice to see something a bit more reasonable.
  11. I'd pick Garland over Boeser, as Garland is cheaper and I feel brings more intangibles to the team. That being said, having a weird hate b#ner for the most productive right winger we've had since Bertuzzi, who is by all accounts a phenomenal human being, and is currently going through what can only be described as Hell in his private life is...well.....weird.
  12. Bruce has earned his shot here. Trotz would be my top pick if Bruce decides not to re-up though Trotz should have his pick of any team looking for a new coach anyways, and with our blueline looking the way it does, I imagine we wouldn't be high up on his list even if we were looking for a coach.
  13. Seems like a fool's errand, especially considering our cap situation. Retaliatory offer sheets are a pretty common thing. I'd rather not tempt fate.
  14. Lol. No way we're moving that contract unless there's significant retention, and that's assuming he waives, which after what he dealt with in AZ seems unlikely.
  15. Then he should be put in the Ring of Honor immediately.
  16. It's easy to say "It's a business", but to deny that the optics of a situation aren't important is to deny reality. Assuming Brock is willing to sign for less than his qualifying offer, I don't imagine the team essentially saying "Gee, we're about the horrible situation you and your family are going through, but we just don't want you on our team any more" will sit well with the rest of the roster. You can say "It's a business" all you want, but come contract time it could mean the difference between a hometown discount and having to pay free agent prices.
  17. Hopefully this is a reality check for some people around here. Nothing wrong with criticizing a player's performance, but it's important to remember that they're human beings first and foremost, and a lot of people (including one poster in particular) went way overboard with their criticism, to the point where it was almost a personal attack.
