  1. Read on Twitter that we're not close to signing Motte to an extension. He might be moved today.
  2. If Garland moves we'd better get a big haul for him. Really not keen on moving him unless it's an overpayment. Would much rather move Boeser.
  3. Gotta put the tags in, my dude. But yeah, this seems like a solid move. Need to find a bit more snarl to that blueline with both Hamonic and Myers gone though.
  4. Don't worry, guys. Soon Dermott will be here and it'll be smooth sailing to the playoffs
  5. I'd be cool with that. Barron seems like a better fit for us than Lundqvist imo.
  6. He's only a few years removed from logging nearly 20 minutes a night on average with is. Being stuck behind Seider and Hronek limited his minutes in Detroit, which is obviously understandable, but the fact remains that he ate big minutes for us, and played solidly while doing so not long ago. Or are you disputing that? The fact also remains that we just coughed up a 3rd round pick for a bottom pairing Dman when LA only gave up a 7th for a player that eats more minutes and has a better pedigree.
  7. Detroit had Seider and Hronek in front of Stetcher on the right side. Context matters.
  8. Petey and Bo have both indicated that they're not willing to go through a rebuild. "I want to play for a winner" If that's to be taken at face value, we're likely looking at moving core pieces anyways. They're not just assets, they're human beings, and they want to win. I doubt Petey is going to be appeased when someone tells him "Don't worry, in 5 years this is all going to be worth it! I promise!"
  9. What would the alternative be, unless you're wiling to go full scorched earth and we start talking about moving core guys like Petey, Hughes, Horvat and Demko?
  10. Doesn't matter what the reason was. He played in a top 4 role for us often, hence why I said he CAN play in the top, not that he should. Hell, prime Stetcher would be a top 4 on a current blueline considering how absolutely dog$&!# our right side is. He put in some hard minutes for us, often played 20+ minutes a night, and had solid underlying numbers to boot. The amount of disrespect he gets around here because "lol smal" is absolutely baffling, and a complete rejection of the reality of how solid he was for us.
  11. Except that he always ended the season playing top four minutes and having solid underlying numbers. He's certainly not a top 4 on a good team, but he always wound up getting those minutes over guys like MDZ, Gudbranson etc because the coaches trusted him more, and rightfully so. Saying that he "ended up on the bottom pairing" is completely backwards. He was always written in on the bottom pairing and pretty much always wound up playing in a top 4 role by the end of the season. That's just the reality.
  12. I'd rather overpay for a top 4 defenseman than overpay for literally nothing.
  13. I'd rather use him while he's still a competent top 4 Dman and then try and dump him later then retain that much on him now. The only way retaining that much for that long makes any sense is if we can find someone to fill his role for under 4 million dollars for as long as we're retaining salary, and find that person without giving up anything.
