  1. I still think the field will open up a bit during the offseason. Maybe Minnesota circles back. Miller would automatically become the top line center on that team.
  2. LA does have some pretty sexy young D ripe and ready for the taking. Just sayin.
  3. I've lived through enough deadline days to know that deadline day is typically the most disappointing day of the year for Canuck fans.
  4. At this point I think if anything is going to happen it will likely be in the offseason. Miller will have more trade value and a wider field of possible destinations available for us to move him to then at next year's deadline, and if Miller does want to cash in, it would be beneficial to cash in on a contract now instead of hoping he somehow duplicates his success next season. The only way nothing happens in the offseason is if Miller is dead set on leaving and the offers weren't good enough for management imo.
  5. Newhook, Byram, Schneider and Laff ain't getting moved. If you expect us to land any of them, you're in for a very disappointing deadline day
  6. There's no possible way the Rags would give up a package like that for Miller.
  7. It certainly appears that way, although I still think it's somewhat of an illusion, in that teams still aren't willing to deal their A+ trade chips. So far we've seen a lot of quantity being shipped, but the highest end pieces being moved are late 1sts and B prospects or prospects that have seen a significant dip in their stock like Tippet. I'd much rather take quality over quantity, even if it means receiving 2 pieces instead of 4.
  8. For me, it's always been about getting the right package. I've only been somewhat against the move because I didn't think we'd get the package we needed. If the Rags are willing to move Laff and Schneider I'll drive Miller to the airport myself.
  9. You're probably right, but with a right ride of Fox, Trouba and Schneider, something has to give. I assume that the Rags were planning on moving Trouba when it looked like Schneider was ready to cement himself as a top 4, but if Scanlin can slot in on the third pairing, they could hold off on a Trouba move for now, use Schneider to land Miller, and kick the can down the road for a bit with a Trouba replacement. Just a thought.
  10. So, do the Rangers signing Scanlin potentially increase the chance that they might be willing to move Schneider?
  11. Hey, maybe this makes Schneider expendable to them now? Lol
  12. I would love to know what some of the offers that have come in for Miller actually were. All we know is the rumored NYR package, but you have to think other teams have made offers.
  13. And if, hypothetically speaking, the potential return packages aren't what we want or need, then what?
  14. How good is Grans in his own end? The scouting reports I've read seem to have conflicting reports.
  15. So if the potential returns aren't up to snuff, does that mean you advocate for resigning him?
  16. Nah, seems to me most people that aren't as keen on moving him understand that if we do move him, it will likely be because management knew he had no intention of staying anyways. The real salt will come from the "Dump him for whatever" folk if and when he's resigned, and it will be glorious
  17. Guenther is having one hell of a season, so I don't know what you're talking about there. Having OEL on the books might very well keep us from being able to resign Miller, and considering how laughably bad the rumored return from the Rags for Miller was, having OEL on the books might force us to move him for less than he's worth. OEL is a fine player, but he's not a 7+ million dollar player. We only had to wait one more year, then all of that dead cap was off the books. Not to mention if we had Beagle for one more season, there would have been no reason to trade for Dickinson, so we'd still have that 3rd rd pick and we'd have one less bad contract on the team going forward.
  18. Because unless he is planning on retiring after this season and living in Vancouver, which I doubt, it's more beneficial to him to waive and go to a contender (imo), considering there's zero chance of us resigning. Again, you seem to be missing the entire point of the post. I'm not saying he doesn't have the right to refuse to waive. I'm saying that I think it would be more beneficial to him if he did agree to waive. Unless he is planning on retiring and living in Vancouver, what exactly is the benefit of staying? There's a strong chance we miss the playoffs, and he wont be getting many starts down he stretch anyways. Kinda seems like you're hoping Rutherford and Allvin fail in convincing him to move.
  19. AZ had to take all of our garbage, retain salary, and cough up Garland to ship OEL's contract out. Considering that we live in a flat cap era, no team outside of one run by Jim Benning will take that contract.
  20. At the end of the day I'm pretty sure Rutherford would like to get him resigned. He'll only move him if he gets the type of return that makes it worth it to us or he's sure Miller won't resign.
