  1. Just scouring HF and the Laff fans there seem pretty happy with Lilly. They still seem to see his value as equivalent to a late 1st rd pick.
  2. Quinn has really taken huge strides in rounding out his game this season. Remember last year when we were a worried that Hughes was just a Tyson Barrie clone? Lol
  3. Nice to see Bo back in top form. I was pretty hard on him earlier, but when he's on he's an absolute beast.
  4. 3 more assists. Officially on pace for 100 points. When's the last time a 100 point player was traded at the TDL?
  5. This right there is why he is so valuable. Just saying someone is competative doesn't necessarily mean anything, but when Hughes says Miller might be the most competetive person he's ever played with, that means something.
  6. Miller collected his 71st, 72nd and 73rd points of the season tonight. With his 73rd point, he passed his career best 72 points from the 2019-2020 season, and did it in 10 less games.
  7. Announcer doesn't understand that it's the coaches job to argue every iffy call or non-call? What a moron.
  8. It's not just that we're doing well right now. It's that we're already saddled with that OEL contract and have bare cupboards already. That OEL contract is going to have us behind the 8 ball in a few years, and moving Miller isn't going to net us anything top tier. We're in a position where we have no choice but to go for it while we have one of the best players in the league and that OEL contract still has value. The rebuild inevitable. We either limp their trying desperately to to gather what meager assets we can by trading our best players for other teams scraps, or we go for it now.
  9. I think we're going to be rebuilding in a few years anyway, and considering that no team is willing to give up their ace prospects during the flat cap era, and any 1st we'd receive would obviously be a very late one, a Miller trade isn't going to change that. This is the worst possible environment to move a big ticket player like Miller. You're just simply not going to get prime assets back. Might as well accept the inevitable rebuild and try to make a run now while we still have one of the best players in the league.
  10. That seems to be the consensus on HFboards as well, although I have seen a bit of interest in Hamonic on their end.
  11. Might be worth a shot as a short term solution, although I like the idea of giving Pettersson one of the top two lines and finding a really strong defensive center for the third line, since we don't have a strong defensive center outside of Lammikko.
  12. Canucks under Green 8-15-2 Canucks under Bruce 21-8-4 Anyone denying the fact that the coaching staff was to blame for the team's failure early on is denying reality.
  13. If Miller is producing at a 50 point per season pace on the tail end of his next contract I'd be okay okay with that. Still top six numbers, and given his ability to play all forward positions and both special teams, he'd still likely be a valuable player. Overpaid sure, but valuable. Assuming that the end of the flat cap era is in sight, inflation should make the cap hit look a tad less massive as well. 9 million dollars in 2029 isn't the same as 9 million dollars in 2023. This is of course all based on the assumption that Miller's trajectory falls in line with the status quo.
  14. But according to you Boeser is a pile of garbage, so we'd still come out ahead, would we not?
  15. That terrible +/- followed him to Philly. Considering that his offense has dried up now too, I really don't understand what GMs see in this guy, other than his size and the fact he plays RD.
  16. I have my doubts that a team like the Aves are willing to go all in this at the expense of their future with the league the way it is right now. I understand that fans don't speak for management, but if you were to ask Ave fans what they would cough up for Miller, I think folks would be shocked at just how little they'd be willing to let go of
  17. It's a risk, but, to put it bluntly, between the albatross OEL contract and have bare cupboards, I have the feeling that even if Miller regresses significantly halfway through his next contract, we'll be mired in a rebuild by that point anyways. Considering that no team seems willing to trade their top prospects, any first rd pick we receive for Miller will be a late one, and that OEL contract isn't going anywhere, I doubt a Miller trade at this point is going to change that. That's why I'm in favor of going for it while Miller is still in his prime. I think the teardown is inevitable no matter what.
  18. In a flat cap era young players like Newhook, that are going to be contributing in a big way while still on their ELCs, are more valuable than ever before. If a team expects one of their prospects to be able to fill a top 6 or top 4 role while still on their ELC, they're not going to move them. Covid has turned the economics of the game on their head, thus making this the worst possible time to be trying to ship out a big ticket item like Miller. We're never going to get the type of return to make it worth our while.
  19. It's about cap space, but also about allocation of resources. Our blueline needs a ton of work, and It's going to be pretty difficult to legitimately compete until we patch those holes. If Miller and Petey are locked in as our top 2 centers, that pushes Bo down to the third line, playing largely in a defensive role. Obviously we don't want to be paying a 3C 6 million, especially when that 3C is (sorry) pretty poor defensively, and especially when our actual blueline needs a ton of work. We should be able to move a player like Horvat, that has a ton of value around the league, for help on the blueline, and bring in a true defensive 3C for quite a bit less money than we'll have to pay Bo.
  20. Not saying he won't be moved eventually, but one would imagine that if management didn't feel that there was at least a solid chance at resigning him that he would be shipped out for the largest possible haul, which would mean at this year's deadline. That said, I feel that teams are really capping themselves in terms of what they're willing to pay for big name players, especially when it comes to moving high end prospects on ELCs. In a flat cap era, those players are more valuable than they've ever been. That's why I'm not fussed about moving Miller now. Even as a pure rental at next year's deadline, I still feel like Miller will fetch a haul close to what teams are capping themselves at anyways.
  21. At the end of the day management has a much better idea of whether or not Miller is willing to resign than anyone here does. If he's moved at this year's deadline, then we'll know that they didn't expect him to resign. If he's not, then there must be at least some reasonable expectation that he will resign. We shall see.
  22. It's gonna be fun coming back to this thread after deadline day
  23. If they're not willing to move him for Miller, I doubt they'd move him for Bo
