  1. Laff has the most potential/highest ceiling. Chytil is the safer bet.
  2. I mean, when said player is having what can legitimately be considered one of the best seasons in franchise history, it's understandable.
  3. Schneider, Chytil and a 1st would be my minimum accepted price.
  4. The only way they'd consider moving Fox is if McDavid was going the other way. Dude is foing to be the best Dman in the league for the next decade at least.
  5. I don't mind the general section, as the better posters can provide some context on what a player's worth is outside of their market. That said, the trade proposal threads usually just turn into flame wars.
  6. At the end of the day, if the right deal is there, you make it. Maybe I'm just hanging out on HF too much, since nobody there seems to think their team should give up more than their equivalent of Raymond, Ballard and a 1st for Miller.
  7. Tampa is front loaded with talent and St Louis caught fire with a super hot goalie and a brick wall defense. We need our 2C to be better than that, since we don't stack up to either team in virtually every other category.
  8. Maybe landing that 3C is where a Boeser trade comes into play. I've been pretty critical of Bo lately, but hopefully having a 3C that can take some of the load off of him can help him return to previous form, and Boeser might be the trade chip to do it. Then, if we can land another middle 6 RW in free agency or, better yet, someone like Karlsson can win a spot in training camp and slot into that third line RW slot, our forward group could look pretty solid. Landing a stud RD is going to be difficult though. If the Rags aren't willing to part with a guy like Schneider for Miller, who's on pace for 90+ points, can play all 3 forward positions and both special teams, then that tells you just how valuable good RD are, and how difficult it's going to be to land one.
  9. If they don't, then you'd have to think that management feels as though they have a realistic chance of resigning him, or landing a good haul for him at next year's deadline if they can't come to terms. I agree that losing him for nothing can't happen, but we have a year and some change to work with. There are a lot of factors involved, but considering his history, there's no reason to think that he'll suddenly be hit by the injury bug, barring something flukey happening, or that his production will fall off next year. Again, anything can happen, but if management feels that they have a realistic shot at resigning him or they can land a substantial package for him at next year's deadline if they can't come to terms, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Considering coach BB's recent comments proclaiming him the leader of the team, and the fact that no team seems willing to give up their top prospects, I think it's unrealistic to expect him to be moved at this year's deadline anyways. Best to just accept it.
  10. Seems as though the price is something along the lines of a 1st, an ace prospect, and an impact player. If, let's say, we're able to move him at next year's deadline for a 1st and a top prospect, and we use the cap space that would have been allotted to the theoretical impact player we would have landed had we traded him at this year's deadline to nab a good free agent, are we really in much worse shape? (assuming we don't horrible overpay for said free agent)
  11. It seems as though the team's interested have a pretty hard cap on what they'd be willing to offer for anyone. The real question is, If we were to assume that Miller wasn't keen on staying, or prices himself out of here, what type of return would we be looking at for next year's deadline as opposed to this year's deadline? Obviously it would be less, but how much less? We've seen pure rentals go for quite the haul at the deadline before.
  12. If the Canucks were to make the playoffs, and Miller were to finish with 90+ points, you'd have to think he'd get some consideration for the Hart trophy. Just sayin.
  13. Honestly, I think Miller is captain in everything but name right now. The thing is we don't have anyone that can eat the hard minutes that Bo eats, and I doubt anyone would be willing to move a player that can. Personally, I don't actually think Bo is all that great at eating those hard defensive minutes, but he's unfortunately the best we've got, if not for any other reason than his FO percentage. I said this in another thread, but ideally what we need is a better version of Bo anchoring our 2nd line if we want to be real contenders.
  14. Maybe, but we also don't want to be paying our 3C six million dollars a year either.
  15. Unfortunately, we seem to have quite a few guys on our roster taking up significant cap with little to no actual value, or guys that do bring value, but are significantly overpaid. Poolman and Dickinson are negative value, Hamonic is bordering on that too imo. Myers is pretty important to us, but he eats too much cap for what he brings. I still think he's movable, considering he's a RD and he only has 2 years and change left on his deal. OEL, for as much as I like the player, is significantly overpaid and his contract isn't movable. Had we been better with our cap under Benning, we probably aren't even having this discussion about Motte. We'd simply be wondering how much his next contract would be worth.
  16. That's where you have to have faith in your scouting. Hoglander was an NHL regular and borderline top 6 in his draft + 2. Sure, he might be an outlier, but I sure wouldn't want to miss out on the next Hoglander for the sake of Motte, with all due respect to Motte. At the end of the day I think he'll sign for around 2 mill, making the issue moot anyways.
  17. I've repeatedly heard from Ranger fans that Schneider is indeed off the table, which should take them out of the running for Miller (assuming we were still open to moving Miller at the TDL, which I doubt), barring a package that includes multiple 1st rd picks or something insane like Laf, Chytil, Lundqvist and a 1st. Really, I just think people need to qccept the fact that Miller isn't going anywhere in the short term. Next deadline is the only point I see him being moved, and that's only if management isn't convinced he'll be willing to stay. They're going to give themselves every chance they can to get him resigned imo.
  18. I really think it depends on what position each player plays as well, and the type of player they are. A package of a young quality center, a good, big, defensively minded RD prospect and a 1st round pick have a lot more value to us than a package of a good RW, a good but small, offensively minded D prospect and a 1st round pick
  19. Love Motter, but a 2nd rd pick isn't scraps. Our last two 2nd round picks were Klimovich and Hoglander.
  20. I agree and disagree, if that makes any sense. Bo is worth that to us because of the hard minutes he eats. We don't have anyone on this roster that can eat the type of minutes he eats, and nobody in our pool that looks like they could pan out as a similar type of player. That being said, it isn't just about the minutes he eats, but how well he eats them. He hasn't panned out as the two way stud we were all hoping he would be. His saving grace on the defensive end is his FO percentage. When it comes to his actual defensive play, it's honestly pretty mediocre. He certainly won't be winning any Selke trophies. Offensively, he seems to have topped out as a 40-65 point per season player. Nothing to scoff at, but if he's having a season where he's on the lower end of that range, like he is this year, it's simply not good enough for a top 6 center. Ideally, our 2C would be a better version of Horvat.
  21. Not to mention he was the only guy to speak out after the team was hit with Covid last year and the NHL was forcing us to play that ridiculous schedule. That's leadership right there.
  22. For the first time in forever we have a great 4th line. Unless Motte is looking for 2.5+ or someone is willing to cough up a 2nd rd pick for him, we resign him.
  23. If Zacha does end up coming here I think he'll be put into the 3C role, considering what a dismal failure Dickinson has been. At least Zacha can win a draw.
