  1. That nerve doesn't happen to be wearing a dress does it?
  2. Jays do seem to be striking out a lot, although they've been very effectively running up pitch counts. Hopefully they can cut down on the former while keeping the latter.
  3. Following the online tracker, did Donaldson get injured?
  4. Well, the new rule has now been certainly put to the test. MLB better be consistent with that rule...you look at the fielder and you and the other baserunner are out.
  5. Series are generally 3 to 4 games long. In a 162 games season you have to do it or travel would be nuts.
  6. Gotta think when they were putting the bullpen together they were hoping for nights like this. Here's to more of them! I know it's two games, but I like how this team gets a lead then just cruises on to the win with relative ease. I know they were only 2 run ball games, but I didn't feel nervous at all.
  7. Good solid win. A lot of strike outs but the Jays were able to work the count all day and as a result get Archer out early. Solid, solid outing by Stroman. Love the fact that Tulo is going to be at short the whole year, I promise to never take him for granted.
  8. Shocked at how quickly he has adjusted to the North American game. He rarely looks out of place defensively. People have bemoaned the fact that we've always been a weak to respond to physical play team (myself included). The answer to that has never been to toughen the response, but to make the hits that puts the other team in response mode. Wtih Tryamkin and Virtanen we finally have two skilled "hit first ask questions later" players.
  9. Meh, don't overthink it. How often has this happened, twice? (Vessey, Schultz) I'm not too worried about Demko or Boeser at this point either. Both look to be significant players right now, so why delay the big pay days?
  10. I know the Shaw plastering was posted at the top of the PGT thread.
  11. I wonder if Soriano has anything left in his arm? If he does it certainly makes moving Sanchez to the rotation a lot easier.
  12. 2012 it looks like. After reading Estrada's comments about his free-agent experience on SN looks like the union may push for some sort of tiering in the next round of bargaining.
  13. The Type A/Type B was scrapped and simplified. Now, a QO is considered to be a 1 year offer at the average of the top 125 salaries in that year. If you have a qualified player signed away you get a pick at the end of the 1st round. If you sign a qualified player you lose your 1st round pick (not to the other team, it's just eliminated). To get compensation you had to have had that player all year (hence why the Jays didn't get a pick for Price).
  14. Hail, Caesar! - 8/10 Coen Brothers goodness. If you aren't a fan of the Coen Brothers you probably won't like this one unless you have a soft spot for 50s era movies.
  15. The Big Short - 7/10 Could have been so much more. This was a movie that I was really interested in seeing as it's a news story that I have followed frequently since before the housing crash. Coming from the same writer of The Blind Side and Moneyball, I was surprised that I found this movie really lacked a heart. It told the story and broke down how the housing crisis happened well enough, but without the heart, it just seemed borderline "documentryish".
  16. Well, you know, as they say "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
  17. Looking for fantasy hockey advice.  Should I pick up Jake Allen, Cory Schneider, or Craig Anderson.  I won't say who I currently have...it's embarrassing.

    1. Green Building

      Green Building

St Louis will get you the most wins. To me it's a no brainer even though I'm a Schneider fan.

    2. Edlerberry

      Edlerberry

      assuming weekly h2h...

schneider. hes the best around, noones ever gonna keep him down.

Schneider will give you the most starts and reliable 2ga, will stabilize you. goalie cats are so hit n miss, you can start your starters looking for a low gaa/sv/SO to lock in at min goalie GP. if you end up behind, ride schneider. nothing worse than desperately needing a goalie start and the 1b goalie gets it.

  18. Still up to EE, regardless of an extension. Players have waived their veto rights before but it's a tricky situation. EE has repeatedly said he's happy here so doubtful he'd want to leave. I'd be fine with EE past 2016 at a reasonable price. If not, I'd be alright with a Colabello/Smoak platoon (assuming neither regresses) and investing the money elsewhere. EE pretty much holds all the cards here, so I wouldn't plan on getting any significant assets back if he leaves.
  19. Latest report says that Mark Lowe is headed to Detroit. These steady bullpen arms are starting to go pretty quickly.
  20. O'Day and Madson are off the FA list. Com'n Rogers, throw some money at the bullpen at least. Otherwise this simply isn't a playoff team. As constructed right now, their pitching won't make it through August, let alone September and October.
  21. First Shapiro, now Atkins? I guess I shouldn't judge until we see the finished product on the field, but part of me can't help but think the hockey equivalent would be the Canucks hiring Kevin Lowe and Craig MacTavish.
