  1. I prefer to look at the glass half full IF the Jays don't get 1st in the AL. Perhaps they will have a chip on their shoulder because of it, a chip that would certainly help them focus in the ALDS. Personally, between the Rangers, Yankees, Astros, and Angels, I don't care who they play. They can beat any of those teams. Are the Jays firing on all cylinders? No. But the Jays have 8 under the hood while the teams listed above are working with 6. Doesn't mean the Jays automatically win, but I like their chances with the way AA has the team constructed and the way Gibby has them playing. Yeah, 1st would be nice but if KC loses their series it's moot or if a ALCS against KC goes less than 7 games it's also moot. That's why a rested team is a little more important. I would be curious as to why if Buehrle gets left off the playoff roster. I know teams go with a shortened rotation but you'd think an extra starter would come in handy just in the event that one of the top 4 goes down to injury. At this point I'd rather Buehrle over Hutch in the playoffs.
  2. k, so let me get this straight. 1) Osuna blew a save. They should've gotten a proven closer that was available...you know, like uh Papelbom 2) Post all-star break numbers for Price/Dickey/Stroman/Estrada be damned, the Blue Jays are going to be the only team in the playoffs where their pitchers don't get better. Our arms will turn to rubber while the Texas Rangers are going to throw 4 future HOFers at us. While were at it why don't we add, 3) The ghost of Jose Reyes (not too sure when he died, but whatever) will strike not only Tulo but Ryan Goins too leaving the Jays with a middle infield of Peddington and Kawazaki. Damnit AA for not having a plan E and F at those critical positions, you deserve not to have your contract renewed. 4) Melky Cabrera (not a ghost), will somehow manage to find his way back to Toronto and lead a players revolt against the turf at Rogers Centre. The revolt will lead to lacklustre play and all the players wanting out at the end of the year. 5) Gibby won't be drunk the entire post-season, but for enough of it to have the Blue Jays get swept and being outscored 29 to 2.
  3. Thanks. Figured as much. If it was an injury it probably would've been splashed all over sportsnet.ca
  4. Been following the game online for the most part. Was there a reason given for Tulo not playing? I'm assuming it's just rest (fingers crossed)
  5. I do. He was a useful "tweener" for a while. At best, the 5th man in the rotation.
  6. Price not starting until the playoffs now. Hope there aren't rust issues. I guess it's a case of you're damned if you do/you're damned if you don't rest him.
  7. Magic number down to 2. Is it asking too much for the Yankees to lose quickly tomorrow? How awesome would it be for Stroman to be on the mound for the division clinching out? (I guess the Blue Jay half of that is far-fetched too, even if he has a low pitch count, Stroman probably ain't going 9)
  8. I'd go with Revere. Not sure what the price difference is between the two players. Just really hope Rogers notices the packed stadium since the trades and allows AA to keep as much of this team together as possible.
  9. So far Stroman has been using his hyper intensity for good. Lawrie, although I wouldn't say used his intensity for bad, got himself injured all the time with it
  10. Magic number is 8. So any combo of 8 Blue Jay wins or Yankee losses will give them the AL East. 3 for a Wild Card. Haven't seen a magic number anywhere for 1st in the AL. My guess is 12 (Blue Jays can win all 10 remaining games but Royals would still need to lose 2 or....if Royals lost their last 11, Blue Jays would still have to win 1). So... 1st in AL = 12 1st in AL East = 8 Wild Card = 3
  11. It's not so much the work Osuna or Sanchez do in the previous inning, it's easy for a reliever to cool down when in the dugout waiting to go out next inning. It's not a fatigue thing, it's a trying to stay sharp thing. Easier to do that in the bullpen compared to the dugout.
  12. Fun game to watch, just too bad the Jays ended up on the wrong side. If there is anything I've learned about Sanchez/Osuna over the last couple of months is please don't let them pitch into a 2nd inning anymore. It never seems to go well.
  13. Growing up my favourites were Tony Fernandez, Jimmy Key and John Olerud. I still remember in '93 when Olerud flirted with .400 for a while.
  14. So, has Stroman earned another start? With the way Buerhle and road-Hutch are trending I'd say yes.
  15. Yeah, after 5, it's an official game. Less than that and they have to start over another day.
  16. With the rain coming down a bit...just get this game through 5!
  17. 5 hour game and now Stroman pitching. How am I supposed to get any chores done?
  18. He was also brought in to help tweek the culture of the team (along with Donaldson). Add Price and Tulo midseason and that's a lot of diamond rats.
  19. They're playing really good baseball right now. Kinda reminds me of the Royals without the headhunting and and false bravado.
  20. They did beat the Rangers by a run recently. Won some close ones in New York too a few weeks back. I prefer to look at the glass half full and say that teams pretty much have to play a perfect game to beat the Jays. One not great pitch by Allen in the 9th and the Jays could have won that game.
  21. FFS the Red Sox throw out Jean Machi to close out the Yankees in the 9th?!. Guess they're trying to do the Yanks some favours.
  22. With the way EE is hitting looks like Tulo is still going to the plate with the bases empty.
  23. Gose strikes out in a key situation...was one of his biggest supporters as a Jay. He has a lot of tools. Just strikes out way too much.
  24. Why does everything have "Fresh Scent" technology now. The Febreeze patent about to run out or something?

    1. Mr.DirtyDangles

      Mr.DirtyDangles

    2. Tortorella's Rant

      Tortorella's Rant

Hang in a public restroom for 20 minutes. Everything after that is fresher for a while.

  25. Pennington > Kawasaki is why. I minor move, I know, but still an improvement.
