There is a huge difference in the amount of messaging too. The government simply isn't in the advertising business. So, we get bombarded by messages for junk food and barely any for the Canada Food plan.

[Signing] Canucks sign Nils Hoglander

I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be upset if he went to Utica, but I feel as long as there is room to grow in Sweden, why rush. -
The isolation efforts have never been to eradicate the virus, it was to flatten the curve and make sure we all don't get it at once.

You'll get there one day. I was eternally single for the longest time. I didn't think I'd ever figure it out. But then something in me clicked. I'm not sure if was maturity, confidence, or finally meeting the right girl (chances are it was all 3), but I got there. I tried to use every dating/relationship failure as a learning experience, even if I was reflecting on something from years in my past (because you don't always realize things right away). For the most part my failures came about because I couldn't get out of my own head rather than focus on the needs/interests of the person I liked. I was also too worried about failure. Once I reframed things as "at the very least, I'll get to know someone interesting better", failure was no longer a disaster, it was a learning experience. Didn't mean it didn't hurt, but it helped knowing I was wiser and better prepared for the next experience. So I guess, reflect reflect reflect without being too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes in love but that doesn't mean you'll never find it. I was at a point similar to you in my life when my sister set me up with a person at our work. I had no expectations of where it would go (which was different from any person I was interested in before, perhaps it was because I didn't know them super well). Ultimately, it did go nowhere (we were very different). We dated for a month and it was fine, but it was an off-hand remark from one of her friends after we stopped dating that for some weird reason gave me all the confidence in the world. The confidence that eventually did lead me to who I've been married to almost 10 years now. Oddly enough, I don't think I would have ever gotten there without that 1 month relationship. So, once again, don't be too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. Use them as learning experiences to make you better person. Good luck!

Oh, I am well aware that care home work is lowly paid. (It's the same with places for disabled adults, many EAs at my school work at those just to make ends meet because they don't get enough hours from the school district) My mom spent most of her life working in a care home as an RN until cuts forced her to a palliative care wing of a hospital. This has resulted in many premature deaths during the pandemic. Care homes workers, farm workers, slaughter house workers, etc. There are lots of jobs where wages have gotten driven to ground that we're going to regret all in the pursuit of maximizes profits. I don't understand why you consider the concern for the elderly suspect? I'd expect most people were aware of these conditions. Just as people are aware of the conditions in slaughterhouses.

Actually I don't know what happened in 1917. I know the Spanish Flu pandemic started in January of 1918, so not 100% certain what he's alluding to in 1917....

Hope you're right.

It'll be very interesting to see how things go there. I wonder what they'll be doing for testing because knowing those true number of cases is that first very important alarm bell in ensuring the hospitals don't get overwhelmed. Looking at the numbers, Sask. has 4 in the hospital and 2 in ICU. Not sure if that is 6 total or 4, but regardless, with 57 active cases in total for the province it seems like things are at a manageable level. As long as they do this carefully, how those numbers fluctuate there will be very informative to what we can and can't do here in BC.

Seems the society of "free thinkers" have hitched their wagon to Trump. And once their logic hitches their wagon to somebody or something they're like a dog on a bone, hard to get off. Anything that promotes laissez faire economics they're behind so they love Trump for his want to let corporations be the solution for everything. To some, there is nothing more freeing and efficient than letting the market dictate what decisions are made. They've been so used to hearing that the individual is always right. Whenever decisions are made by consensus they will do anything to undermine those decisions because it impinges on their rights as an individual to make decisions for themselves, especially economic ones. I'd be curious to see how much correlation there is between the "end the lockdown" protesters with "climate change is a hoax perpetuated by the scientific community" protesters. Two areas of scientific thought that have been attacked voraciously because it dares defy what is best for the all mighty market.

True and true. And like @DeNirosaid just after you, social distancing and proper hygiene are going to be super important as we slowly reopen from isolating. As testing gets better and ramped up that will help people make good decisions too. I just hope those around the Lower Mainland treat the measures we need to maintain (social distancing etc) better than we do driving in the snow...we do great for the first day and then patience slowly wears away and people get less careful. I know in my townhouse complex, the driveway gatherings are getting closer and closer while the neighbourhood kids have been mingling closely for a couple weeks now. That's not a disaster while everyone in the complex is pretty much self isolating, it's almost like an island. But I hope they realize as things reopen all it's takes is one person to get it and whammo, it'll be everywhere. Like you said at the start, this virus will be around for a while so we can't let our guard down as we slowly restart our lives next month and beyond.

I needed a haircut just before Spring Break here but my brother was in town so I used that time to spend it with him rather than get it cut. That was about 6 weeks ago...and I normally get my hair cut about every 6 weeks. Gonna have a nice hockey mullet soon

I would guess that the number is a result of a backlog of test being announced today.

Heh, I wasn't incredulous with you, you're sarcasm came across . The source of my incredulousness was with the fact that Trump thought that passing that off as sarcasm was acceptable.
-
That's an excuse? While giving an official press briefing on a global pandemic is not the time to be sarcastic. Nothing wrong with being sarcastic but you don't look for sarcasm from your leaders during times when they should be leading.

I'd imagine over 50% in some areas.
