  2. Who says the border with China was the problem? I've heard that many of the US cases can be traced back to Europe and the UK not directly from China (I'm not letting China off the hook, I'm well aware that this is where the pandemic started)
  3. I've noticed the US death #'s are still increasing at the same time some people in power are musing about getting things going. I get it, it's important to talk about when we should open things up, but how about recognize what is going on at the moment for goodness sake.
  4. FITY Could you imagine Brad Marchand pulling off his licking stunt during a time like this? They would have to come up with a 2 minute minor for lack of social distancing just for him!
  5. Oh, I know. My post was to point out some of the "let's get back at er" supporters will point to this 0.12% because it sounds small. Well really, it's modelling 192,000 deaths which isn't too different from a lot of the models out there
  6. And I'm sure a lot of people see 0.12%!!! what's the worry? and over look 0.12% of 160 million is 192,000 people which sin't too far off from the projections we've heard
  7. I think you just coined my campaign slogan....I just need to figure out what to run for. This is definitely going on the t-shirt though
  8. I think the point was, if we open up too soon and the virus really does run rampant through the population, we'll really find out all the bad outcomes this virus has to offer and add to the list people with diabetes, heavy smokers, obese people etc.
  9. Need internet help/advice.

Having connectivity issues with devices.  Here is some history:

    1.  Internet started to crap out just over a year so bought a new router.  Seemed to correct the issues.

    2.  Bought a new laptop a year ago.  First the sound goes haywire then it starts to have connectivity issues.  After about 2 months dealing with Staples/HP they fix the motherboard and that fixes the sound.  Wifi connectivity not so much.  All other devices work reasonably fine.  Brought the laptop to work and it worked fine there.

    3.  Laptop worked okay when it was on the same floor as the router, so buy a splitter to put the router on the main floor.  Laptop connection is marginally better but all other devices are suffering now.  Especially when streaming on smart tv which was never an issue before.

    4.  Now also notice that my wife's phone will not even recognize the wifi signal.

At a loss for what to do.  Is it a laptop issue, a router issue (or both), a strength of internet signal?  Any tips to trouble shoot would be greatly appreciated.

    2. Baer.

      Baer.

I've learned more in this thread than I ever have talking to Shaw. I asked the guy that came to switch in a new router what the difference was between 5 and 2.4

He said they are the same. Without any further elaboration....

I have a TPlink that combines the frequencies onto the same network and switches automatically.  It's a fantastic router.

@King Heffy That's what I was referring to as band steering.  It's a great feature!

  10. Voted Sundstrom Nominating Hansen Cheers to Vintage for breaking the tie!
  11. Voted Kearns Nominate Butcher
  12. I've got Hansen next on my list to nominate after Butcher
  13. Don't worry, when they say eventually we'll get back to normal, that will too. But for those of us that are left of the right of centre, at least as far as Doug Ford goes, we'll always have the pandemic.

Some won't be happy until the Canucks win the cup. Even if they make it to the final, I'm sure someone will say if they hadn't of traded for Linden Vey and Sven Baertschi they would've gone all the way!
  16. So, it's true, IF the Toronto Maple Leafs win the Stanley Cup it will be a harbinger for the apocalypse.
  17. Nobody here is letting China off the hook. Pretty much everyone here says that China can't be trusted with their numbers and that they are trying to cover things up. Some are just suspicious of the motives behind switching the name of a virus with a name that is already in widespread use.
  18. I wouldn't if I were Canuck management. Goldy clearly isn't good enough to make the team so he deserves a fresh start wherever he can find it.
  19. I feel like Sutter gave Eriksson #21. Not 100% sure on that though.
  20. I'd imagine schools being closed would make a difference too.
  21. Working from home now (well, except for an hour a week). Wife is still working her usual hours. With no daycare expense, barely any gas expenditures (I had a bit of a commute), and barely eating out we'll actually end up saving more money.
  22. Ditto. Although time will tell if the NHL will come knocking in two years. It's too bad things didn't work out because, as you mentioned, his attitude and character is NHL level. But he's been given ample chance here and was just not quite good enough. Hopefully he has a long and amazing career in the KHL, dazzling fans with his skills that he just couldn't do on a consistent basis here. All the best to Goldy.
  23. Trump has made it a priority for the private sector to lead the supply of the "Life Saving Equipment". It's win/win/win/win for him. A. He doesn't have to do much B. In his mind whoever needs it the most will pay the most, that way people won't lie and say they need more than they truly do! (I hope we can all see the fallacy in that) C. You call it price gouging, Trump will call it entrepreneurial ingenuity that will bring prosperity to smart people (once again, I hope we can all see the fallacy in that) D. The price gouging will lead to the under funding of other public sectors = opportunity for more private entrepreneurship! It seems that the longer this has gone on, the less Trump is taking charge. IMO, I think it's mainly because he's getting overwhelmed with the situation. I also think this is what the Tea Party faction (which is primarily in control) wants out of government. And that's to take a step back and let the Private Sector be in control of the response because they FERVENTLY believe that the Private Sector can do EVERYTHING way more efficiently than the public sector every can on its best day.
