  1. Said pretty much every generation in Canada since 1867.
  2. Once again, non-comparables aplenty as Miller scoots into 249th in all-time Canuck scoring. 248. Tyler Motte C 95 11 8 19 249. J.T. Miller LW 18 8 11 19 250. Aaron Rome D 148 5 14 19 250. Erik Gudbranson D 139 5 14 19 252. Jason Strudwick D 243 4 15 19 253. Jay Mazur C 47 11 7 18 253. Tanner Pearson LW 37 11 7 18 255. Jared McCann C 69 9 9 18 256. Tim Hunter RW 176 8 10 18 256. Richard Park C 60 8 10 18
  3. Heh, I couldn't help reading that last part and think, the device will be marketed to curlers but the real boom market will be 21st century controlling husbands Both my boys (5 and 7) are in curling now and they both really like it, so looks like our winters will be spent at the Langley Curling rink...sadly they don't sell burgers. After hockey and baseball, curling is a sport that I enjoy watching (tennis too).
  4. Miller passes a bunch of non-comparables while on his way into 256th in all-time Canuck scoring. 256. Richard Park C 60 8 10 18 256. J.T. Miller LW 17 8 10 18 258. Matt Bartkowski D 80 6 12 18 259. Kevan Guy D 114 5 13 18 260. Pat Quinn D 133 4 14 18 261. Shane O'Brien D 141 2 16 18 262. Jeff Tambellini LW 62 9 8 17 263. Mike Keane RW 64 8 9 17 264. Jimmy Carson C 34 7 10 17
  5. I don't think it's as simple as a Baertschi for Eriksson swap. Green likes that Beagle 4th line to be a total shutdown line. Currently, Beagle and Schaller are playing really well and Eriksson is just holding things down until Motte (or Roussell) returns. I don't think Green sees Baertschi or Gaudette as a fit on that line as they aren't as good defensively. I do agree, though, that it may be time to try Baertschi with Horvat, but my guess is it'll come at the expense of Leivo or Gaudette.
  6. Horvat's point tonight pushes him to 30th in all-time Canuck scoring. 29. Darcy Rota LW 289 120 116 236 30. Bo Horvat C 393 104 132 236 31. Sami Salo D 566 74 162 236 32. Jannik Hansen RW 565 105 130 235
  7. I never saw it as a "pissed at his teammates" but rather "pissed that they lost". I get where some people are coming from, that breaking your stick like that is not very professional and you don't want this happening after every loss. But this was, for the Canucks at least, a pretty hard fought game with a fair bit of emotion. Much more emotion than your average team on November 5th so I'll give Markstrom a pass here. In the larger picture, I see this as a growing pain while on the path to respectability. While this start has had the Canucks post some elite numbers, they aren't an elite team yet. The frustration shown last night after a tough loss isn't the sign of an elite team but it is the sign of a team that has higher expectations for itself. And that is a good thing.
  8. Heh, heard on the radio that someone on the bench should've just jumped onto the ice and touched the puck and take the two many men penalty. Even that would have to take very quick thinking, and probably would only work once before they changed the rule.
  9. Credit where credit is due too, that St. Louis PK was hyper aggressive and it worked.
  10. Heh, I wonder if the Blues are happy to get 3 out of 4 points from a team like that
  11. Josh Leivo with moves into 224 with his set up to Quinn Hughes tonight. Very Lonny Bohonosian type numbers. 223. Lonny Bohonos RW 70 13 13 26 224. Josh Leivo LW 64 12 14 26 225. Dale Weise RW 152 10 16 26 226. Claire Alexander D 32 8 18 26 227. Michael Del Zotto D 105 7 19 26 227. Doug Wickenheiser C 80 7 19 26
  12. Sounds like the Brewers really didn't want to pay his salary. If this trade means 25 fewer bullpen days I'll gladly let Rogers pay the 8.5 million (or whatever it is)
  13. Seems like not a high price for someone that can throw starting MLB innings.
  14. Could probably say the exact same thing about Tryamkin at this point. If he does come over, there are no guarantees where his NHL game will be at. Stetcher is a bottom pairing guy on a good team, who can fill in with no issues into a top 4 role for periods of time (imo). At this point, if the choice is between two (and really it shouldn't be...it doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other), I'd take the known NHL quantity.
  15. LE is the 13th/14th forward. I'd rather him sitting collecting dust in the press box or playing the odd game on the 4th line than taking time away from players in Utica.
  16. Bo slides into 32nd in all-time Canuck scoring with his 2 assists tonight. 31. Jannik Hansen RW 565 105 130 235 32. Bo Horvat C 391 104 131 235 33. Ed Jovanovski D 434 57 177 234
  17. Some beauties and even a son of a beauty
  18. He's fine on the PP but Hughes is obviously better. It's not Edler's fault he's the Canucks 2nd best D option on the power play but that doesn't change the fact that he is. Hopefully in a year or two that'll be Juolevi's job.
  19. Gibson was on his game. The refs were bad. The ice was worse. (or the other way around take your pick) Canucks gritted out a point against a team at home that brought their heavy game in full force Take the point and move on to the next one.
  20. Nice try but I suggest Haikuifying it: Markstrom is awesome You are not Inb4 the lock Pure poetry
  21. Tanner Pearson ties Jay Mazur and his inflated 80s stats while passing Shane O'Brien and his deflated Roxy stats as he slides into a tie for 252nd in all time Canuck scoring. 252. Jay Mazur C 47 11 7 18 252. Tanner Pearson LW 32 11 7 18 254. Jared McCann C 69 9 9 18 255. Tim Hunter RW 176 8 10 18 255. Richard Park C 60 8 10 18 257. Matt Bartkowski D 80 6 12 18 258. Kevan Guy D 114 5 13 18 259. Pat Quinn D 133 4 14 18 260. Shane O'Brien D 141 2 16 18
