  1. Not mention their schedule has not been tough at all. I was looking ahead, and they could easily go 10 - 0. They gotta have the lightest schedule to start the season.
  2. Agree completely. If the Canucks make the playoffs in the next two years the Miller gamble will pay off (very well), but if they don't then it wouldn't have. This is a worthy gamble as the core looks good. But if the gamble doesn't pay off then maybe the core isn't as good as we thought and the organization should look very closely at what is going wrong.
  3. When I had first made the comment I had said as well that if the Canucks make the playoffs, then yes, this trade does make good sense. I agree that it will be worth it too. But there is some element of gambling, which sometimes you have to do as you can wait forever to have all your ducks in a row to make a run.
  4. Hockey Pool advice needed.  Is it worth it to grab James Neal and drop one of Dadonov/Dubois?

I'm not a fantasy expert, but I have a feeling Dubois will be much better than Neal.

Dubois is going to be a star. Keep him.

If it's a keeper league keep Dubois

  5. Of course not. Would you trade a 1st and a 3rd for 28 year old Chris Kreider? Miller at 26 is perfectly fine for Vancouver if they start to complete in the next two years. But if they sputter for two more years Miller will be two years older and two years closer to UFA status. Miller is a valuable piece, I agree. And if this pushes the Canucks into the playoffs in the next year it'll be draft picks well spent (and the biased Canuck fan in me believes this trade will be worth it). However, if the Canucks don't make the post season the next two years and have to give up a lottery pick, well, those have the potential to be way more valuable than a 28 year old player and Benning should've waited (in hindsight) to make a trade like this. Time will tell, I think it'll work out for the Canucks (meaning they make the playoffs this year or next) but it's not a slam dunk.
  6. Yeah, if the lottery pick is in that 10-16 area it makes things more gray than black and white. I realize you can't necessarily wait to draft your entire core and, once you're confident in enough of the core it's more efficient to go out and get what you need to finish it off via trade. Miller is one of those pieces but if the Canucks don't make the playoffs in the next two years that'll be two years too early to make this trade (in hindsight). For the record, I think the timing is fine and the trade will work out for the Canucks. But if the Canucks miss the playoffs the next two years and have to cough up a lottery pick, in hindsight they should've waited because the rebuild isn't going as well as originally thought.
  7. Pretty much. If the Canucks give a pick up in the 20s, this trade is worth it. If the Canucks give up a lottery pick, not worth it. Simple as that.
  8. Edler knuckle pucks his way into 16th in all-time Canuck scoring tonight. 15. Petri Skriko LW 472 171 202 373 16. Alexander Edler D 817 96 274 370 17. Greg Adams LW 489 179 190 369
  9. No man, @N7Nucks you're the snack ice cream
  10. Biega bulldogged his way into 184th in all-time Canuck scoring during his time here, although he ranked much higher in our hearts (awwww). Hope you get some games in Detroit Alex! 177. Tracy Pratt D 176 9 30 39 ... ... 184. Alex Biega D 179 4 32 36 .... 187. John Grisdale D 199 3 32 35
  11. If the Canucks miss the playoffs this year and next, both should go. The Miller trade is fine if the Canucks give up a non-lottery pick. If they end up giving up a lottery pick then ouch.
  12. And Tanner Pearson is on pace for 831 shots this year. Good enough to break the record by 281
  13. Tanner Pearson jumps into 289th in all-time Canuck scoring with his 1 goal on 11(?!) shots. 288. Dave Gagner C 33 2 12 14 289. Tanner Pearson LW 20 10 3 13 290. Darby Hendrickson C 67 7 6 13 291. Josh Green C 90 6 7 13 291. Raimo Summanen LW 19 6 7 13 293. Ryan Shannon RW 27 5 8 13 294. Andrew Alberts D 134 4 9 13 294. Josh Holden C 46 4 9 13 296. John McIntyre C 90 3 10 13 296. Bob Murray D 90 3 10 13 296. Jay Beagle C 58 3 10 13 299. Andy Schliebener D 84 2 11 13 299. Gary Doak D 83 2 11 13 299. John Hughes D 52 2 11 13 302. Larry Carriere D 56 1 12 13
  14. Yes he does. He's a body you can park in the press box guilt-free for 70 games as your 14 forward. On the ice, I agree.
  15. I think they want to go two pure scoring lines and two pure shutdown lines. That's a mistake IMO. You need scoring up and down the lineup. Not half a lineup that is an offensive black hole.
  16. Could also be waiting to see if some should be healthy enough for opening day.
  17. Capfriendly has him as waivers exempt. It's possible they're wrong, but if the article sourced Capfriendly then that's where the 4th player is coming from.
  18. Is it just me or does Tanner Pearson (with a helmet on) look like Dan Hamhuis long lost brother.
  19. @Justdean10pretty much summed it up I kinda followed that. I first bought the engagement ring (knowing it had a good band that would go with it, but didn't buy that at the time you can run the risk of that band getting discontinued come wedding day though). Once wedding time neared we bought the bands together. We found the band that matched her engagement ring, and I picked out a band that I liked (they were both white gold, so they kinda matched) Edit: AND GOOD LUCK!!!!
  20. I notice Boone and the Yankees hitting coach got ejected. Are the Yankees acting like a bunch of entitled brats again? Man, normally hate the Yankees, but it's another level this year. I hope the crash and burn fast.
  21. I'd say yes to Ferraro in Utica but I don't think a two way deal is necessary at this point. If you needed to bring him up you can always sign a contract at that time. I'm sure at this point Ferraro would like to see if there is a two way deal out there. Maybe he'll settle for a minor league deal in a little bit of time.
  22. People that use blue tooth speakers when they really should be using head phones/ear buds.
  23. Pretty much. I remember when Tyler Bozak got flak for dressing up as Michael Jackson for Halloween. Really? It was coming out of respect for Michael Jackson, not to dredge up memories of black face.
