[Official] Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball thread
Wilbur replied to The Stork's topic in Off-Topic General
Was bored, so for a summer project I'm throwing together a Blue Jay spreadsheet like a do for the Canucks. The all-time Blue Jays team based on at-bats and innings pitched looks as follows: C Ernie Whitt 1B Carlos Delgado 2B Damaso Garcia 3B Ed Sprague SS Tony Fernadez LF George Bell CF Vernon Wells RF Jose Bautista DH Edwin Encarnacion SP Dave Stieb SP Jim Clancy SP Roy Halladay SP Pat Hentgen SP Jimmy Key RP Bret Cecil RP Duane Ward RP Jerry Garvin RP Tom Henke RP Jim Acker For the most part a whos who of Blue Jays history but Ed Sprague?! (Edged out Gruber and Mulliniks) Never realized Blue Jays never had a guy for too long at that position. Hopefully Vladdy can blow past him in time. -
stickers on produce can't there be a better system? or they all be made biodegradable?

Unfortunately you gotta do it. Doesn't make it any easier, I know. Hopefully day care is a place you trust and your son will get the attention and care he gets at home too. Nothing wrong with feeling the anxiety, but do the best you can and you'll get through it. Soon, you'll find a new normal that is healthy and happy. Even though a lot of your son's day is at daycare, you'll still get plenty of moments to share. Try to think of it as expanding horizons and experiences for your son, rather than what he may be missing out on. Good luck!

[Signing] Canucks sign Micheal Ferland
Wilbur replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Canucks currently have 14 forwards signed for next year. Goldobin and Boeser bump that up to 16 (and this isn't counting Gaudette). Assuming the Canucks go with 13 forwards, that's 3 that have to go. With Roussel injured, 2 will need to be gone (or in Utica) by October. FORWARDS (14 - $44,291,666) Eriksson, Loui UFA Horvat, Bo "A" UFA Miller, J.T. UFA Sutter, Brandon "A" UFA Pearson, Tanner UFA Ferland, Micheal UFA Baertschi, Sven UFA Roussel, Antoine UFA Beagle, Jay UFA Schaller, Tim UFA Leivo, Josh UFA Virtanen, Jake Motte, Tyler Pettersson, Elias Goldobin, Nikolay Boeser, Brock To me, barring a trade, Schaller and Goldobin probably get waived/traded for scraps. This doesn't take into consideration that Benning will have to clear a little bit more cap space to sign Boeser (although perhaps not if they walk away from Goldobin and Roussel goes on IR). -
As Edler and Tanev leave the team we'll need 2 of Juolevi, Woo, Rathbone to eventually replace them and be a little better than Edler/Tanev have been. Same goes with the pool of Lind, Madden, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Gaudette will need to replace and be better than Pearson, Sutter and Baertschi as they exit. If this happens then I will be convinced the rebuild is complete.

aaannnnndddd Blue Jay pitching lives up to its expectations. I felt it in my bones the second the game went 6-2 that the Jays weren't getting out of that inning with the lead. -
People will complain, because he isn't a dominate 1D defenseman for a bargain basement price. Some fans want moves that are either outside the stadium record breaking distance grand slams or not do anything but collect picks picks picks picks and more picks. If it ain't a perennial all-star, get picks picks picks picks picks. When the picks don't pan out, get more picks. When those picks don't pan out, get more picks. If he isn't hands down a dominant play pushing player, they prefer the unknown of the mystery box in the hope it'll turn into a unicorn. To some fans, every pick has an unlimited ceiling whereas Tyler Myers has a definite ceiling. And it ain't a top 2 defenseman so why bother because, if you unwrap enough picks, you may eventually find one.

Danny Jansen is sure heating up. Heh, never thought I'd be saying that this year. -
Shhh, don't let the truth get in the way of a good story.

I think we should overreact and elect a far right strongman that will demand respect on the international stage

Gurriel!!!! That is all. -
Pretty sure the penalties are now about 3M for Van and 1M for Florida for the next 3 years. That's what CapFriendly is saying at least.
-
2.2 million more per year. 800K gets erased 3 million gets added so 3 million total (or 2.2 million more than what they were already paying) At least as I understand.
-
Not sure why Florida still can't just trade Luongo back to Van. Weren't Datsyuk and Pronger traded after they effectively retired from the NHL?

Hats off to Gurriel, after a slow transition to the North American life/game, he is really thriving. -
I agree that is the top 12 (give or take), so yep, issue is what to do with the next six -Granlund: to me is trade bait (or Sutter is trade bait and slip Granlund into the top 12) -Spooner: waive -Gaudette: start in Utica for now -Goldobin: gets a 6 month last chance while Roussel is out -Schaller/Motte: competition for 13th forward, waive the other This assumes everyone is healthy (except Roussel) at the start of the season. I think they only have to make one trade. Two, if you want to make room for Gaudette for October.
