  1. His career regular season numbers bear this out. He had one above average season (2011-12) but other than that hasn't posted any outrageously good numbers. He's good, but he isn't in the same league as Rask or Lundqvist. Seeing the Kings lose is just too much fun. I'm pulling for the Sharks because they are a hell of a lot more entertaining than the Kings, and since I don't have a dog in the playoff fight anymore I want to watch entertaining hockey.
  2. Yep. Burns doesn't produce like Lucic but he's more dangerous in part because he's a big guy that skates like a small guy, kinda like Kassian. Kass is going to be a beast. We a glimpse of what to expect next year the last 6 weeks of the season, and it's exciting.
  3. I don't want Kassian to turn into Lucic, I want him to turn into Brent Burns.
  4. Jonathan Quicks playoff save percentage is regressing to the mean (his .915 career average) in a damn hurry.
  5. Shoulder pain has gotten to the point that I can't bench without significant pain. Time to get the ball rolling on getting it fixed because this trying to train around it is not working.
  6. How did Hjalmarson not get a penalty for crosschecking Steve Ott there? Goddamn, that was vicious.
  7. How is San Jose NOT the cup favorite again? Sooo much goal scoring power, and if they get in a shootout series their PP is going to be the difference.
  8. RFL is a PSMF. RFL is the abbreviation for Lyle McDonald's Rapid FatLoss. I know lots of people who've run it for 6-8 weeks and gotten incredible fat loss results, I'm just scared that I'll piss my measly 380 squat right back to 315 with such a rapid loss in weight. Since I train primarily for strength, losing 65lbs off my squat is a BIG deal. Losing fat is important, but just as important will be my ability to maintain and even build a little bit of strength as my weight goes down. Nice home setup! Saving travel time to the gym has to be nice.
  9. This San Jose/LA series makes me with the NHL would go back to the old playoff format. This is going to be the best series of the playoffs and it's a first round match up.

IMO this system will work great for the first 2 rounds. It will likely be hit and miss for the conference finals though and cup

Blues Hawks doesn't hold a candle to this. Tons of scoring chances for each team and lots of back and forth play.

King Heffy, I agree good matchups in each round is good for the game, I'm afraid that this new format can leave you with fantastic first round matchups and just okay second and third rounds because you'll have teams from the juggernaut Pacific eliminating each other in the first round.

Worked pretty well before they changed it in the 90s. This is how to pump up rivalries.

  10. Time to cut, I'm just not sure what approach I want to take. Part of me wants to do RFL (a super aggressive diet) and get it over with. The other part of me is scared that RFL and it's massive deficit will leadto me losing ALL of my hard earned strength gains and I'll essentially be back to where I was 6 months ago. The other approach is to cut 4-500 calories from my daily intake and add 2 conditioning sessions per week. If I'm smart with my programming, I should be able to continue to get stronger while losing weight with this approach.
  11. NHL HAS to do something about getting calls right. Tampa Bay should be pissed.
  12. Bruins dominating this game so far. If you're going to follow #BostonModel, it needs to be based on how the B's are playing between the whistles, not the BS they get into after them.
  13. Yes, we'd be a hell of a lot better in transition and on the PP. Still can't believe he was a 'deal sweetener' in the terrible Eric Johnson for Chris Stewart trade. Colorado could sure use a Shattenkirk right about now too.
  14. It's nights of playoff hockey like this one that convert non-hockey fans. Goals and drama abound.

  15. So yeah, San Jose is filthy. LA has no chance if they keep taking penalties. The San Jose PP is having their way with LA.
  16. Man, the 'Nucks could use a Kevin Shattenkirk. And to think, he was a deal sweetener in the Eric Johnson for Chris Stewart trade and yet is the best player to come from that deal for either team.
  17. Toews has to be concussed. He has too much of a history to not be.
  18. I'm enjoying the PDOvalanche regressing to the mean right off the bat in the playoffs.
  19. Patrick Sharp is the engine to this 'Hawks offense, that much is obvious. He's the winger version of Toews but doesn't get nearly the love he should.
  20. Hell of a game going on in St. Louis

  21. I agree, but his skating isn't as good as Burns so that might kill some of the increase in offense.
  22. I'd like to see the Sharks take this. They play an exciting brand of hockey with lots of goal scoring.
  23. THIS! Boston kicked our arses in 2011 because: (1) they were healthier, and (2) they were pretty damn skilled themselves (5th in goals per game that year). LOLOLOL. I live on the east coast and therefore watch a fair bit of Bruins hockey, and let me tell you they are very, VERY good. They average 3.15 goals/game, good enough for third in the league. They also have a PP operating at 21.7%, good for third in the league. And to top it all off, they are third in 5 on 5 goals and first in third period goals. Sounds like a completely 'average' team to me. Take the hater glasses off and recognize greatness when you see it, even if you hate it. And this. My take: both the "Boston Model" and "Detroit Model" rely on a legit #1 defensemen who take the puck away and quickly move it to the offensive zone. Boston: has survived trading away 3 top tier first liners in the last 9 years in large part because of Zdeno Fracking Chara. Detroit: Well, fact is they've been a mid-tier team since Lidstrom retired.
