[Signing] Montreal Offer Sheets Aho
blackpluto96 replied to babalu's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Whether it's done frequently or not, whether it ruins the brotherhood of GM's or not, this is a good play from Montreal. It hits the weak spots for their division rival and sets it up for UFA by 26 of a key player. No way Caronlina would go 5 years if they negotiated the contract with Aho without this offer sheet. -
[Signing] Jordie Benn signs with Canucks
blackpluto96 replied to CanucksCountry's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I was so excited to see this unbelievably reasonable signing of a local boy who provides the exact elements this team needs. After reading all his interviews and quotes, now I'm getting goosebumps just thinking having Benn on our team. This is a win-win for everyone. Well done JB! -

[SIGNING] Canucks sign Edler to a 2-year contract

My bad...didn't see it. Please delete Mr. Mod. -
I'm living in China so i can't access Twitter easily. It's official, the Eagle will stay two more years, with NMC but without expansion protection, at 6M per. A very reasonable deal in all aspects including length, cap hit and expansion availability. A job well done by JB and Eddie. WELCOME BACK! The backbone of our defense! My first ever topic...beating VC to a trade announcement. A job well done to me.

[Rumour] - Re-signing Edler to Canucks
blackpluto96 replied to Squamfan's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Spot on. For me the key is this contract does not have expansion protection so it give the Canucks flexibility at expansion draft. If Edler is a second coming of Giodano then, we protect him. If not, we don't get tied down with one less protection spot. If this contract materializes, I'll be over the moon. -
For this Lucic thing, it has to start with the premise that we are taking on a bad contract if the price is right so the main part of any trade should not be Lucic. It should be what Deadmonton is offering us to take on that Contract.

That's not for fun, that's for a drunk. I'd rather play Bo and Petey on the same line than trading him for a 2/3-line winger and a low-odds lottery ticket.

Some of the logic here is laughable. You want Pettersson because he 'fights' for the puck but want Bo to literally drop the gloves and 'fight'. When Bo was the only one on the team that can take a faceoff and kill penalties, some of you think he should stand up for team mates and sit for 5 minutes or more. When he has taken the most draws in the NHL when Beagle and Sutter were out, which also extends his hard minutes since he can't just take a draw and then go off some times, some of you expect him to take runs and hit all that's in sight. Then you go further and question his drive and passion for the team and winning. Give me a frigging break.

If the same rule as soccer is applied, they got a 1-1 in an away game so they can advance if they 1)win by any score so an advantage on aggregate score or 2) 0-0 tie and advance by having more away goals. If final score is 1-1 in the second leg then they play OT/Shootout?

There is a pretty big difference between mean/gritty and dirty. Being suspended 3 times already, I'd prefer to stay away from someone like that, especially at top 5 pick.

This is the trend I want to see for Olli. Although Olli and Heiskanen have same amount of points and games played, much higher TOI for Heiskanen and one year age difference is a pretty big deal. Many do well until TOI increases so that's the next step for Olli.

You love them Cretaceous period eh Rob

how about glass?

Exactly. I believe what GMJB said is if a young players earns a spot, he will clear up a spot for him. It takes time to clear up a spot and put a contracted player on the waiver should be done carefully. He never said clear up a spot right away, or the hammer of the 'asset-management' group will come down on him right?

For those of us who cannot watch or follow junior hockey closely, it's tough to get a read on OJ's performance outside of the normal stats. Point totals seem fine given his increased defensive deployments and less talents forwards on the team vs. last year. I'm really interested in how he's coming along on the possession/defensive/breakout games. Anyone that can continue to shed lights on this is very much appreciated. I think we made the right choice in picking a puck-moving 1/2D with this pick. I just hope we picked the right player.

This thread always makes me feel good (except the Tanev-Domi trade portion). Boeser is money.
