  1. Looks like bo is a placeholder for bonino, may mean hes in the pressbox.
  2. Hey, I am looking for the Jake Virtanen thread, has anyone seen it? It was supposed to be here.....
  3. You are quite on the mark with this. Although I see the line up shaping up a bit differently as if we stack our first line with sedins vrbata, that leaves us with a pretty poor second line thats more like a good third line. I posted the below lineup in another thread, but we would not need to waive sestito (unless we want too) and would only need to trade a goalie, which we have 3 of on the NHL roster, vey, kass, and vrbata can move up and down depending on how chemistry goes, twins can reunite on PP and when were down a few goals: CAPGEEK.COM ARMCHAIR GM ROSTER CapGeek Armchair GM Roster FORWARDS Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) / Henrik Sedin ($7.000m) / Radim Vrbata ($5.000m) Daniel Sedin ($7.000m) / Nick Bonino ($1.900m) / Zack Kassian ($1.750m) Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Bo Horvat ($0.894m) / Linden Vey ($0.735m) Derek Dorsett ($1.633m) / Shawn Matthias ($1.750m) / Jannik Hansen ($2.500m) Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Brad Richardson ($1.150m) / DEFENSEMEN Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Luca Sbisa ($2.175m) Chris Tanev ($2.000m) / Yannick Weber ($0.850m) Ryan Stanton ($0.550m) / GOALTENDERS Ryan Miller ($6.000m) Jacob Markstrom ($1.200m) BUYOUTS David Booth ($0.000m) Keith Ballard ($0.000m) RETAINED SALARIES (1.16% of upper limit) Roberto Luongo ($0.800m—15.00%) BONUS OVERAGE $0 ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (estimations for 2014-15) SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,737,500; BONUSES: $850,000 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $2,262,500
  4. 23 saves for Demko in a 7-1 win over Sweden, looks like he is back on track now.
  5. I think moving up in this draft without giving up Horvat, Shink, Kes, or Edler is entirely possible. The only thing I am uncertain of is how high we would have to move up for Reinhart. 6th to 3rd isn't much of a jump, maybe Gaunce and another pick gets it done. 6th to 2nd might be too expensive, but, Buffalo has a lot of young talent, possibly two top 5 picks in this draft and could be ready to compete next year with the right veteran pieces (Any one of our D, Hansen, Higgins, Burrows). 6th to 1st may be way too expensive, but our trade history with Florida makes me think its at least something they will listen to. I figure 6th plus Horvat/Shink + is what we would be giving up for #1.
  6. Honestly, I believe Trevor Linden will be trading up for Sam Reinhart. It makes too much sense. Sam is a BC kid with amazing upside, but he has what I believe Trevor will be looking for, leadership qualities and great work ethic in the mold of one Trevor Linden himself. I would be shocked if Trevor isn't all in for Sam Reinhart. Now if that does not happen or cannot be worked out, I think we take the BPA, and since the BPA is highly debatable from 6-10, I think we take who Trevor/The New GM feels will have the best leadership qualities mixed with talent, size, and speed. How do Ritchie and Virtanen stack up leadership wise? From what I have seen of Virtanen's mic'd up prospect game, he doesn't seem to have a problem speaking up and trying to motivate his teammates, I am just not sure if he is a "lead by example" type that Reinhart also brings with his game. I haven't been able to find much on the other prospects.....
  7. After watching the Halifax game on sportsnet, I am an even bigger ehlers fan. His passes are usually one timers, hard, and tape to tape. I think the problem with the canucks is everyone takes a pass, cushions it, looks around, then makes another pass. We need more players who can pass without thinking about it first, and ehlers is exactly that with a few other tools in the box as well.
  8. So confused by the Lidstrom comparisons I forgot to make my point. Tanev is most likely to get us something decent in return, were not going to get anything trading our scraps. We have D, we lack scoring, pretty simple guys.
  9. Wake up! Tanev is a good top 4 defenseman and unless he learns to excel at offense, grows a few inches and gains some muscle he will remain one. As for warhippy and his Lidstrom comparisons, google AA and hit up some meetings, your kids deserve better.
  10. If we slide enough, allows us to at least trade up for an ekblad or reinhart. I doubt we could slide into top 5. But also there are a few potential stars in the top 10, just doesn't look like any guarantees like last year.
  11. If we trade our 1st while we are 4 points away from a top 6 pick and on a pretty horrid slide for something that may or may not help us this year, I will cry. I would rather MG try and trade old talent for young talent and hope for a surprise, giving up a maximum of our 3rd round pick in case we finish bottom 10 and can pick up two solid players in the first two rounds of the draft. I would give up any of the following: Tanev Hamhuis Edler Garrison Corrado Hansen Burrows Luongo Booth I would even consider getting rid of Kesler for the right price. We do not need a rental, we need a re-tool with some young players.
  12. Did i compare the actual numbers to horvats? No, if you used your brain you would understand i was comparing the direction of their numbers. But thanks for your valuable input.
  13. If you read my post I never call him a bust, I say his numbers suggest that hes becoming one, unfortunately. A decline of 5 points is still not an increase in production which is what I would like to see from a player with such offensive talent. Whats he on pace for this year? As for analyzing stats, you do realize you are in a point tracking thread, right?
  14. Admittedly I've only watched the game against the giants. But, I'm glad you are able to watch all of our prospects games and shoot down other peoples opinions, you must feel special. he is on pace for a decline in points for the second straight year. Who exactly did hunter lose this year for line mates? Like I said, hopefully it's his hip, I would like nothing more than him not to be a bust but an offensive player like shinkaruk shouldn't be struggling to put up the points. Bo for instance has gone from ppg to 1.5 ppg in the same time period. But hey, let's just ignore junior numbers cus some guy on CDC says they are not an indicator of progress or decline.
  15. Bo Horvat after 20 GP = 1.5 PPG, 1 PIM/G, +/- +0.65 per game. Cory who? Unfortunately Shinkaruk's stats are looking more and more like he's turning out to be a bust.... Hopefully this is just an issue with his hip not being fully healed....
  16. Your schooling should take a back seat to me not having to look up prospect stats one by one!
