(Speculation)Luring Nikita Tryamkin
EdgarM replied to Mount-Canuck-More's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Don't get me wrong I would love to see his skills added to the roster but what I don't want to see is a player who gets upset at how he is being treated and demands a trade halfway through his contract or a player who only plays great when he is in a contract year. As I said before, "Character" is a huge attribute in players and is just as important as their skills and abilities IMO. -

I wish he had that same "Loyalty" before he decided to leave this team. Players that do these kinds of things leave a big question mark which leads me to believe his loyalties do not fall under "We are all Canucks". -

I would much rather a player come here and want to win a championship and be committed to his team. "Character" is a huge attribute and if he just wants the money or ,something else, I will pass. -

Exactly, if you have to try and "Lure' someone to come and play here do we really want him to play here and try to win us a Championship? No thank You. -
[Rumor] Panarin Interested in Vancouver
EdgarM replied to SuitnTie's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
In a couple of years I would agree with you but with Petey and his size and Boeser lacking a few muscles and size himself, they will need a different type of player in the interm. Someone to fight along the boards and make room for them in the offensive zone. The PP is more just pure offensive skill and they could be pretty effective as a unit. -

Petey and Boes do not need another skilled guy on their line they need someone to make room for them to do their magic. On the PP though? That's a different story. -
Soft 3rd line, very soft Top line and Stech and Zeitzev are not Top 4 dmen.

I don't know how, in any way, that it would make sense to take TO's SCRAPS and bail them out of their Cap trouble to boot. How about everyone wait them out and "steal" their FA's that they are unable to pay. That would be the smart move to make and the most advantageous.

[Report] Leafs shopping Marleau
EdgarM replied to Generational.EP40's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yep exactly this. They will get to a point that they will be begging teams to take these guys. Just wait them out and just see how cheap these guys will get. We look just fine without fighting over Toronto's scraps thank you very much. -

The Leafs are in serious Cap trouble, let them suffer and let them lose top end talent for nothing. We are in the position of strength right now lets keep it that way. If they want to make deals in pennies on the dollar then fine, if not, beat it. -
I call this filling holes with PLUGS. We are finally seeing the team filling the team with "quality" and pulling out the "plugs". Hutton never panned out to anything so he is a plug who will eventually be pulled from the team as will Tanev because of his injuries. Hughes will make this transition a little easier.

The 2 most important factors which have plagued this team for decades is 1) Lack of push back(as a team) since the 90's and 2) inconsistency in the officiating. If we had these 2 things in the last 2-3 decades, we would be bragging about our Cup(s) by now.

Bill Nye Loses HIs Sh*t to get Global Warming Message Across

Unfortunately no one will give a cr@p what he says until it is too late. Our kids and grandkids will pay the price and its sad that people choose not to see past their own existence. -
[Report] Canucks will not qualify Derrick Pouliot
EdgarM replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
LOL that's your opinion, he was bad, hence him not getting resigned. What part of that do you not understand? Him and Gaunce were not useful at all and it appears management agrees. Hutton is next. -
I think I got the majority of it right but missed on injuries and trades. Overall I think pretty accurate.

I guess after watching this team for about 30 years now and see good players come and go and cores come and go, I am finally getting to see real potential in this next wave of players. I, like you , want to be entertained by watching this great sport, but, after watching hundreds of players come through this team I prefer to see the hard working, hard hitting, give 100% type of play. You probably see more of this watching a minor league team and they don't get paid millions of dollars. Stats bore me as well but I can see how each players performs on the ice and I see when they hit a player and when they choose not to. Why not finish your check? Especially after one of "ours" gets injured from some jerk on the other team. That has actually happened a few times this year and a player STILL chooses not to hit his opponent? We can think up a lot of "excuses" but I don't like them to choose that easy way out and strong character players don't do that anyway. We have had decades of the top players "choose" not to hit in general and have had a few who have. Sorry but I don't want our team to be known as the "softies" anymore and we should be tough to play against, especially at home. Bo can hit, I just would be more "entertained" if he did it more often.
-
Do you watch the games buddy? Have you seen Petey's hitting stats? Maybe you need to take off your rose colored glasses and realize our young players are not finished products yet and there are some things they need to work on. Bo needed to work on skating......check. He needed to work on faceoffs...….check. He is not perfect and will continue to improve I have no doubt of that. Right now Petey is improving at an astounding rate hence the "Alien" handle he has acquired. Petey is doing things he shouldn't be doing due to his small frame and his limited experience in the NHL yet he continues to astound. You don't need to be a coach to see the development of our young players and what things they are good at and what things they need to work on still.
-
But Petey does it, and then some. Yeah OK Ron.
-
I would still like to see Bo finish his checks and help out in the corners in the defensive zone more. We seem to get outmanned in the corners and he is standing in the high slot while his wingers and dmen fight it out in the corners. This might help him out with his +/- numbers as well. Yes his offensive play has been good.
-
I don't think he has taken a "shift" off never mind a game.
-
Would a Captain lead us to more inspired play then what we have been seeing lately? Petey and Marky have been CONSISTENTLY leading this team lately but the rest leave something to be desired.
-
We have had great players with great character, Kessler going "Beast Mode", Burrows "slaying the dragon" but why do we not have anything to say like that for our last 2-3 Captains? Have we ever seen Hank get on a breakaway and score a winning goal? I don't remember anything like that. I sure do remember Yzerman, Lemieux, Sakic etc. in the playoffs, thats when they excelled. I think we are done with this discussion as it just keeps going in circles.
