  1. So .....there must be some magic combination of a couple of "top 5" draft picks, 3 UFA's , 2 trades and a partridge in a pear tree then? Curious if you can tell me what this mysterious composition is supposed to be made of. There must some formula to follow, no?
  2. We already have our "top 5" in Boeser why do we need to continue to chase "The chance"? Relax and let the Gm do his job and continue to build this team.
  3. I am more concerned about the whole team WINNING. Sure it was nice to watch the Sedins do their magic for almost 2 decades but I would much rather see the Cup come to Vancouver. You go ahead and chase the shiny penny down the street I would rather see Bo and Boeser raise a cup some time in the near future thank you very much.
  4. The plan is to improve the team at EVERY opportunity and not rely on ONE section of the player selection process and gamble on ONE player who MAY or MAY NOT crack your line up and MAY or MAY NOT win you a championship. We have players that have been accumulated through trade, draft ,free agency and management have taken what ever opportunity available to improve their team. I don't think narrow-mindedness has a place in such a big entity such a pro sport team and it would be irresponsible for the management team to try the "Edmonton Style" of trying to build a championship team. Every team rebuilds/retools every year as players retire/contract expires/gets traded/gets signed etc. etc. and even the championship teams do this. What a pointless discussion IMO which usually only sparks up when the team is losing. Coincidence?
  5. So is this conversation happening now because injuries have gotten so bad we are now on a losing streak? This is also while Edmonton sits 23rd in the league and Vegas is sitting 4th overall. Benning and Co. are sticking to the plan as stated a few years ago, plain and simple. Happy Holidays everyone!
  6. That's putting it lightly. Reminds me of this guy:
  7. He has a tendancy to do this on occasion. I wouldn't worry about it. Your all good. I know what you meant.
  8. I was thinking the same thing, along with his play on the PP. I was hoping with the more time on the PP he would produce more. He seemed to have trouble winning the fights along the boards which prevented him from making any good plays. He was much more effective off the rush. His progress was going at a good pace until then.
  9. Too funny! I guess you are scouting guys who are still in their diapers? I don't know why you are even cheering for this team with an outlook like that. You do realize that we are in a "Cap Era" where if you don't have a specific player you can BUY that player through UFA/RFA right?
  10. I am sure ALL of the stats will be scrutinized and probably against more then one other player(Drouin). A lot of things can be "implied" but if a long term contract is being looked at then "Real" tangible stats will probably have more value. His play along the boards and success on the PP is still a work in progress. Next year will be when we see that "next step" or not and if he can play more minutes that the Sedins traditional eat up.
  11. I think you are over exaggerating physical play. Yes he does not mind getting to the gritty areas but he has not shown a physical presence. I am pretty sure Drouin takes face offs too. A bridge deal might be in order to establish his full potential.
  12. Although I believe Bo will be a "Linden" type leader for the team I don't think he will be getting the money some of the leagues leading point getters are getting. He hasn't shown that #1 Center dominance yet and his numbers do not indicate it so far. I am one of Bo's biggest fans but not sure I see him making more than 5-6 million per so far. He has made great strides in developing into a regular NHLer and I am hoping he can continue to improve on his offensive skills.
  13. I think what all the championship teams listed have is a balance of both with players with mental toughness as well. I think the team must withstand both the "speed game" as well as a game which becomes "chippy" in a 7 game series. I would say we lost the "chippy" game in 2011. Patrick Kane is a much more effective player when he is allowed to skate circles in the offensive zone untouched making some of those skilled plays he makes. Rough him up a bit and I think he dishes the puck more, especially along the boards.
  14. Good Point! This probably explains the last 2 years where injuries played key roles in the teams success. With Guddy, Dorsett and even Virt out of the line up, it leaves the team vulnerable to the opposing team "wearing down" our players and having players such as Miller resorting to trying to stick up for his team mates.
  15. We have had intermittent team toughness over the years but we have been led by "not so tough" Nazzy and then Hank. Time to change the "culture" of this franchise.
  16. Its all about balance and those teams have toughness to balance out with the finesse players.
  17. Oh that's weak. Remember when we could have picked up Lucic instead of Ericksson? Coulda , Shoulda , Woulda..................Wait until those players fully develop and make that statement again.
  18. Oh you mean the Finals where we were shutout twice and were literally "beat up" by the opposition? Can you say "BALANCE"? I knew you could.
  19. I always thought that was part of the game. If I want to watch a "gentlemanly' game I would watch "roller hockey" or "ringette".
  20. Good point. Edler used to hit, Sbisa used to hit and even Tryampkin was laying some big ones when he first arrived. Makes sense since we have had Gudbranson and Dorsett out for most of the season.
  21. +1. I was thinking the same thing about todays "hockey players". What happened to those who not only stick up for their team mates but also their selves. Watching Kassian the other night "running over" the competition reminded me of play off games of old. Too many times over the past recent years I have watched numerous Canuck players manhandled and absolutely nothing happened to the instigator(s). We seem to have a couple of players who may have the ability to "put up a fight", the problem or concern is, are they willing to or wanting to?
  22. Millers pretty tough. Other then that?....... Yes we are slowly becoming speedy and talented but that will mean nothing when they enter the playoffs and they get bounced around like rag dolls without any pushback players in the line up. Get rid of the older softies and bring in some young toughness with some energy please.
  23. You hit the nail right on the head Elvistein. We have not had that type of "LEADER" since LINDEN. Its been a long time coming. Once the leadership falls into place all other pieces will gel together as well. We had grit before(Bieksa,Kessler,Torres) but our core leaders have always been the same "gentlemanly" type players.
  24. The bottom line is he did NOT bring the CUP! Since the Cup run, it has been obvious more scoring was needed as well as a top 6 forward to play with Kess. We had one of the best Goalie tandems and D Core the last couple of years. You think if he had any ability to TRADE he could have managed to get such a player. It appeared NO ONE wanted to trade with him and he could not come up with a creative 3 way trade to get what he needed. This is not a KNEE-JERK reaction as he has had years to try to improve on a pretty good team that he inherited. I don't think ownership is trying to save money by firing MG. If that's the case, they would be staying with him and saving on buying out his contract. I think they want the CUP just like everybody else.
