  1. What scares me is that we have had players play horrible for a lot longer then he has, eeek!
  2. TBH , he was the only one who carried the team the entire season last year and he has done a complete 360 this year. Bo and Boes are a huge issue, still. This leadership who get paid the big bucks on this team are not going to take us anywhere, it really is time to trim the fat big time.
  3. He comes from the Era of "Mouthguard Munchers". They just stand around munching on that mouth guard without a care in the world.
  4. Me either, if this is not an example of a leadership issue, then I don't know what is.
  5. Seriously, this is 2011 game 7 of the SCF all over again. No urgency, no turning on an extra gear, heck it didn't even seem like they cared if they won or lost.
  6. I agree that his size does give him a disadvantage, but he needs to keep the opposition "honest" and if he has to be penalized for it? so be it. Maybe not every game, but when players are flying around in our zone, unimpeded, why not slow them down a bit?
  7. It can change the momentum, give the team more confidence and swagger to play the game THEY WANT. Look what happened when we allowed that little Rat to play his game or how Thomas gained confidence in the SCF. The Edmonton game, this season, we were shutting down McDavid and getting Nurse flustered. Then Burroughs and then Hughes were manhandled and no retribution. The game went downhill after that and momentum was lost. I think it can hugely affect a game. A team must adapt to any kind of game the opposition throws at them IMO.
  8. Stevie Y said all he needed to say, on the ice. He was able to play in all aspects of the game, including physicality. He was one of my favorite players growing up because of this.
  9. So true, look how long it took to get retribution on Keith's hit on Daniel. Daniel was retired by then that's how long it took. I don't think Myers has played like that since, by the way.
  10. I was wondering how these guys made the line up? I didn't see anything in preseason or in the first few games so far that would say they have what it takes? Right now the only thing they are doing is giving the other 3 lines a bit of a breather and that's it. If they can't do anything their big bodies should at least be able to hit someone. Just saying.
  11. This is what I look at as well, the ON ICE stuff. If my buddy was getting roughed up, I would be in there like a dirty shirt to assist him. If he got hurt, even more so. That is not happening which means the players aren't that close as they are wanting us to believe. If they are enjoying each other and they like each other so much ,where is all the laughing and joking going on either on the ice or on the bench? I sure hope that player only meeting straightened some of the issues out.
  12. I think you are bang on with this. The 80's was more of a "Plumber" type group and in the 2000's we had a lot of skill. The 90's I think we had a good mixture of skill and the plumber type of players, we had Bure but we also had Hunter and Odjick and Linden was the Captain. This makes sense why we have not had a lot of grit and character in decades. The Mix definitely isn't correct and hasn't been for a very long time.
  13. This is what we do though. We didn't want to let go of the Sedins, Edler, Markstrom, Tanev etc. Now we have Bo and Miller. I really believe there is no one steering this ship and there really is no long term plan in place. We knew a long time ago we needed defenseman as Elder was aging and then left for greener pastures. Right now we are heavy on wingers so we draft another one? We have needed grit and character for ever as well but we keep getting smaller non aggressive players? I am good with a revamp at this point.
  14. I agree, and it only takes one bad seed to ruin it for everyone else and make the work place toxic.
  15. Yeah the body language on the ice just doesn't spell , we are a "Pack" and we are all on the same page. If that was the case, i would say all of this is just made up. The problem is, is that there seems to be no chemistry and it probably won't change until it is figured out and dealt with.
  16. Didn't Hirsch say something about this as well? I have said for awhile now that bench does not look like they are having fun. We have the odd time like Podz showing his character but for the most part, its all business, Maybe that is why we don't see them sticking up for each other on the ice as well? I don't know.
  17. I haven't really seen too much physicality or intimidation from that whole line yet. Maybe its still coming?
  18. I think you have the meaning of "Soft" all wrong. In no universe is the Twins NOT SOFT! Just because they could take it they were tough? So if a Bully beat the living daylights out of you but you were able to stand up afterwards you are tough? yeah OK. Hockey is a contact sport. There is hitting and fighting and this goes both ways. That means, as a hockey player, occasionally you must fight and sometimes you should probably hit. If you don't do those things, what kind of hockey player are you? Unless your name is Wayne Gretzky, you need to be involved in physical play. I get it, the amount of physicality has lessened over the years and we longer have "Goons" per say, but it still exists, its a contact sport. Momentum can still swing with a big hit or a fight in a game. To say that it doesn't exist in the NHL anymore is ludacris.
  19. Oh my, Yes the GOALIE of your team is going to Intimidate the opposition. Although that is pretty bad when your team lacks so much team toughness that your goalie feels he needs to step up in a situation like that. Yes we have had the odd time we did do some of it but, generally, we don't do enough of it, especially as a "team" or "pack" mentality. Its really been the general attitude is to wait for a penalty to be called instead of going "Gino Odjick on the entire St.Louis team" type of scenario.
  20. So what has changed? If your player gets roughed up, you deal with it. Your goalie gets bumped? you deal with it. We have always said, no retaliation we will get them back on the PP. How has that worked out or changed over the years for us? To me its a cop out and if the leader is not leading by example why would anyone else on the team do it? For all we know, he is in the dressing room telling them to "let it go" or lets just "hug it out".
  21. "It was most of the roster really. " Except for the Captain. Even though we have had toughness in the line up I have seen Nazzy get elbowed in the head, Brashear batted in the head, Daniel elbowed in the head and rabbit punched, Raymond get his back broken, Petey body slammed, Boeser pasted to the boards and a handle to our team that we are a "Country Club". The last time we stuck up for ourselves? Bure's elbow and Bert's punch. That's a long time to "not stick up for yourself" or for your team and this happens to be a CONTACT SPORT! Go figure.
  22. This reminds me of Vegas's first team, big strong guys with tenacity who were very difficult to play against. They were pretty successful playing that way.
  23. I don't know, I have heard that the letter on the jersey means nothing. I always thought that an army needs a general or officers to lead them and have some structure. How else do you get 23+ guys to be on the same page? Torts tried to lead them to War years ago and they all jumped ship.
  24. Yet this gets you 3 games.................You have to be wearing the correct jersey of course.
