  1. I have said this for a long time now and others thought it was a crazy thought when there was discussion of a successor to Hank and it wasn't Bo. Bo is a great player, as was Nazzy, as was Hank. The problem is that they are no Linden or Smyl type Leaders. It makes a difference and we have seen it for years now. I used to joke that we won a game, then lost a game right after that, like it took all of our energy to win that game so we had to rest the next one. Then I seen we only played well against the top teams and dogged it when we played the lower echelon teams. No consistency what so ever. No one going "Beast mode" like Kess did. Linden was not tough by any stretch of the imagination but he laid a big hit if he thought it was needed and he never backed down when his team mates needed him. He certainly never used injuries as an excuse when his team needed him. The only "gamers" I see on this roster are the guys who have continued to perform when the chips are down. Miller, Hughes, OEL and Demko. I have seen some good things from Podz and Hogs and also Garland but they are smaller players who are not going to do any intimidating when it comes down to it. We also need more players like Schenn and Burrows to add that bit of toughness and sandpaper to the roster and less Poolman and Dickinson. Unfortunately , to break this chain of "Gentlemanly" leaders Bo will need to go. Not because he is a bad player, but because he was handed a job which should have went to a player such as a "Miller" or "similar type" gamer. Then JR can make his team have the identity he desires and not a rehash of what we have been doing for years.
  2. This sums it up quite nicely, this is what we got to work with. Bo and Petey probably stick around if we are not offered a good return. The Coach really needed to have been changed long ago but I agree, the damage has already been done. It sad about Bo because I think he has so much potential but he was groomed to be a Hank 2.0 and I don't think that did him any good. I think depending on what the return is, one of Miller, Petey or Bo is traded and probably Boeser. As stated before, this group is not getting it done and there needs to be changes. However we end being faster, bigger and more consistent, I am good with.
  3. I don't know.........I am not confident in this core getting it done when it comes right down to it. We are light, not very fast, inconsistent and we still have no identity. How long do we wait to get these guys going? Are we still waiting for the 649 line to come back to being our savior? We are having trouble scoring and that has been an issue for a very long time. We are not very heavy and we are going to pay for it in the playoffs, if we ever make it there. We have no "gamers" who can turn a game around all on their own. We are not playing like a Unit and there is no chemistry. Heck games are not even entertaining most nights there's just no emotion from very many players. When they are on the bench they are too busy watching themselves how they did on their last shift on the ipad. Demko, Hughes and OEL are pretty consistent but apart from that, we have to wait until one of our top 6 decides to play exceptional for a few periods. Most nights they are playing half fast and give up on plays such as the one Miller did the other night in O/T. I wouldn't be surprised if any of our top guys get traded and I probably won't miss them too much either if they do. We finally have a good coach and management group and we have a good core of D and goalies. Those forwards leave something to be desired and I don't feel they deserve the amounts of money that are being suggested here. Let the Laffs and Coilers deal with there pouty stars lets go back to the basics and get some big ,fast, energetic players who want to play every night. If we find a "gamer" then fine pay him the big bucks, but I don't see that player in the group we have right now, TBH. You think we would have learned from all the money that has been thrown out to players where it came back to bite us. I don't think I need to mention their names as we all know who they are.
  4. Hey , sometimes I don't think that's too far off base. This team is so Jekyl and Hyde its weird. Most of the players , not named Hughes or Demko, play pretty inconsistent. Miller has been one of our most consistent ,most of the time, and then he pulls one of those "pouty plays" like he did last game. Garland was a spark plug for awhile and he has cooled off, as has Podz and Hogs. Petey sometimes looks "fired up" and then he disappears again. Boeser looks like he can't buy a goal after having that chemistry with Miller which seemed to have been working for awhile. Bo? , well he can be a hero one day and then, nothing. I am liking the energy generated by the likes of Motte, Highmore and Lammikko but there just seems to be a lacking of character in the top 6 , especially when the game is not going well and a "spark" is needed to get the team going. I find games boring and not very entertaining when we have so many players that play with very little emotion most games. We need another Burr.
  5. Sadly we are seeing what happens when your non-physical, slower skating hockey player looks like when they meet tighter checking and lose a bit of confidence. We saw it with the Sedins and with LE. The exact reason why we should not be relying on these type of players come play off time. Its weird because I seen a lot more tenacity and drive in Petey in his first year. By now I would have expected that to be there still but with a more matured body to work with. He is getting knocked off the puck the same as he was in his first year. Did he not gain any muscle or strength since then? He is handling the puck like its a hot potato right now and if he doesn't get any stronger or get a little tougher mentally, I am afraid things are going to get worse for Petey, unfortunately.
  6. This makes more sense. I am so tired of being the REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONS! Build this team so that they will have the ability to adapt to any type of game thrown at them, post season. Boeser is not very fast and Pettersson is not very physical. When they are the "Go To" guys in the playoffs, we will get beat by the faster, more physical and aggressive teams. We would need to know Miller's intentions on resigning though. If it's not reasonable, we will have to look at moving him anyway. I am good with whatever improves the teams chances in the playoffs.
  7. Bo didn't clutch up like that and play like a leader "10 games ago". If he can do that on a more consistent basis, were in for a treat.
  8. And that is how you overcome obstacles(excuses) Folks! The team came out flat, Garland gets them going, Bo gets "Clutch" goals at the right time. Character moves by Bo and Garland. If we have guys like this in 2011 Game 7? We win hands down.
  9. And that is how you close out a game with a real NHL Coach Folks! Who would of thought to get your sniper in shooting zones and get someone(Miller) to feed him the puck. This Coach is doing things that should have happened long ago. Podz is doing awesome and I hope he continues to get quality ice time. This team has not worked that hard for 60 minutes in DECADES! Hitting, Checking! Hockey is fun again, can't wait for the next game.
  10. Not me, WD and TG both did "head scratcher" moves and now I don't even notice the Coaches moves, which is the way its supposed to be. Its just nice to enjoy the game again. GCG!
  11. It was obvious last year that the core outplayed the rookie coaches capabilities and they needed somebody with more to offer. This is so obvious now with BB.
  12. I find the good teams have someone step up every night and be the "Hero" . We have seen that lately and I can see this continuing. If we keep up the hard work every night, the W's will continue IMO.
  13. We had players with toughness over the years but they hardly ever used it. We had tough guys who were "nice guys" most of the time. We never had a guy with a mean streak in them since Odjick. We have sorely needed a Pronger or Byfuglien or Scott Stevens for ever on this team. Lately I think Myers hit on Duncan Keith is the closest we have come to having that, sadly.
  14. Nah I don't agree, if he gets rocked like Keith was rocked by Myers? I am good with what the consequences are. The entertainment value far out weighs anything else.
  15. This is how I feel as well. I thought we were progressing to be a great team until I felt the players had outgrown their Coach. I don't know why it took so long for them to realize this. I think it will take them awhile to get back to where they were but I see them getting progressively better as the season goes on. We definitely look like we are a "TEAM" again and yes you can see and feel the difference for sure.
  16. See! This is much more entertaining then the product we have been forced to endure for awhile. I found myself cheering again and not shaking my head at what we were doing before. Were not running on all cylinders yet but we aren't about to stall neither. GCG!!!!
  17. This is what I am looking forward to too I really like how he played the game.
  18. Wow!! a Coach who totally makes sense? Many will see why there was so much complaining lately and they will see what entertaining hockey really looks like, FINALLY!!
  19. Boeser should be an easy fix it seems to me. He is not a playmaker or a great passer. He is a SHOOTER, plain and simple. He needs a SET UP guy. Peteys a shooter as is Miller. Why is he not with Bo "ALL THE TIME"? Nope, lets just keep trying to reignite the 649 line like its going to miraculously go back to the future. Yes I agree, Pearson is not the answer to Bo. He finally figured out Garland needed to play more but he continues to leave Pearson in the top 6 when obviously he does not belong there. He finally puts Podz on the PP and he scores. He did the same with Hughes when he refused to put him on the PP. It got to the point where he put him on the PP because he had no choice. He leaves Chiasson on PP? There are so many examples of this it astounds me that no one in management notices it or they just ignore it.
  20. I don't know, as we all ponder ideas on "what went wrong" , I keep wondering how players such as Bo, Petey and Boeser's games have all dropped off a cliff. I remember last season where it seemed like the players just outplayed the Coaches abilities and many of us thought that the obvious next step was to get an NHL proven Coach. Then this one was resigned? A real head scratcher. We have all seen these players perform much better then this and when Petey made very little effort to stop that empty net goal a few games back, it screamed that there is huge problems which is much deeper then a couple of players going through slumps. The fact that Management ignored it, and continues to ignore it, shows that they are either oblivious to the problem or they refuse to acknowledge it. Either way, its not good and makes them incompetent. I don't think a "blow up" strategy needs to be employed at this time but the management and coaches need to go to see what we can salvage of what has been built so far. If they are too incompetent to even do this much, I am afraid the fans are not going to get any happier then what they displayed the other night, its going to get worse. I wish the owners "Good Luck" with that.
  21. Good to see our Character players continue to keep us in games while our star, skilled players...........well.....work though their , issues.
  22. I am all for bringing in someone to change the Culture of this team but I would also like to have someone who has experience handling the operations. I like where you are going with this though.
  23. Exactly, I just hope whoever management is , is going to realize that.
  24. If Bure had a twin brother, we would have a Stanley Cup under our belt.
