Yeah " performed pretty reasonable" is not what I am expecting from players with their skill and salary. I don't blame the coaches thats just a cop out. Players need to be responsible for their own play, period. Torts tried to make the players be responsible in their own end, they chose not to, thats on them. The Twins should have been split up in their last few years, they might have been quite useful in a support role instead of being looked at as the go-to guys, but thats another topic and another discussion.

Its funny people on here will go to great lengths to discredit Vegas when in reality they are the better team here regardless of all of the other distractions. Our biases will make up whatever excuse we can think of to make ourselves feel better. Lets face it, Vegas has very little holes in their game and they have proven it over and over again. On a side note, that Eichel is one tough SOB. That big hit should have taken him out, then, that puck to the head? Wow! A big hand to all of these players who are playing through injuries but are still giving their all. That's Hockey!

I actually believe they did. Vwgas plays the same way all the time. Game 3 they let up and they did the same with Dallas. I think they want to win at home. Never seen a team dominant enough to be able to control their play like that. I find their unwavering commitment to the teams structure unbelievable. They are able to adapt to any play that gets thrown at them. Thats what a Championship team looks like.

[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Conor Garland

Bear is a bit redundant anyway, I like him as a player, but he is on the smaller side for a dman. We are good with the offensive dmen we need those big shutdown guys with size and grit. I am comfortable with Hronek and Hughes in the top 4 but they need sizeable , gritty partners IMO. -
[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Conor Garland

Pearson's end of the year interview didn't sound like he was close to returning, it sounded like he wasn't even sure he was going to be able to use his hand normally again. Either way, the team knows what to expect and that information rarely gets out to us. I am confident they will plan ahead accordingly. -

So Benning had 7 years to make something of this team and Allvin gets a year and a half before he has to worry about his Job? Really? One thing that this management has shown is to be patient and opportunistic. Take what comes when it comes. They're in the process of making this team to what they think it needs to get to. Hronek, Mik and Kuz is what we needed. We obviously are stuck with players that don't fit but they aren't just going to throw them away, why would we? We are not pressured to win the Cup this year. They haven't made any panic moves and I am kind of impressed by that. When the opportunity arises, they will move on the players that don't fit here. Bo was a good example of that. They got a fair offer for their asset and they took it. When the same thing arises for the rest of our unwanted, they will do the same. if not, then we run with them until their contracts run out, such as Myers. I don't expect anything for this year other then an improvement over next year. If we make the playoffs ? great, if not, I know better days are ahead and I am willing to wait in order to have a better "on-ice" product in the end. Patience, Patience,Patience. -
[discussion] big summer tocchett
EdgarM replied to Angry Goose's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Yes we have a good base to work with but adding those final pieces and then making them gel together is going to be tricky. It finally looks like we have direction and I can see it coming together. Having Cup experience in the Coaching and Management Departments is definitely a plus. -

All those heights come from Canuck.com I didn't make them up. I agree about Garland, Boeser and Beauvillier but I am guessing we are going to get stuck with at least one of them for the time being at least. Not ideal for sure. I think size we are Ok its really if they can play to their size or not. Kuz is 194lbs and Petey 176lbs. Kuz should be able to hold his own but Petey needs to add a bit more muscle I believe. -

Kuzmenko 5'11" Petterson 6'2" Joshua? 6'3" Mikheyev 6'2" Miller 6'1" Boeser ? 6'1" Beauvillier ? 5' 11" Garland ? 5'10" We definitely need bigger, shutdown D in the top 4 to play with Hronek and Hughes. I think the key components are there we just need to add the right complimentary players in the line up. The good thing is that they should come a lot cheaper then what we already have, getting rid of some of our smaller wingers should help with that. -

I think your assessment is Bang on Joe. We need that grit to add to our existing line up. Ones that can go into the corners and boards and come up with the puck to dish to our skilled guys. I really think Joshua has a good chance as they tried him out last season and he looked promising. The big question remains with who will play with Mik and Miller, Boes, Beau or Garland. I think we keep only one of the three. All three were given the opportunity last season and I didn't see a clear winner as to who had the best chemistry for the line. Big priority is to find the same for Hronek and Hughes as well. Hoping OEL can play well enough to pair with Hronek but finding a partner for Hughes is huge right now. Bear is redundant as we have players who play like him already. The best we could do is put him into the third pairing but I think he has too much skill for that. He would have made a good second pairing guy. They seem to be able to add some good supporting cast members so far and I suspect they will do even better once they shed some cap space and are able to remove some redundant players from the past regime. This is a strong possibility, he would balance that line out for sure. -
Get over it already, just accept watching a good hockey team how ever they were assembled. It's been 6 years and they have managed to do what we have been trying to do for over 50 years. They took some diamonds in the rough and made champions out of them. look at Hill, is he a product of some kind of conspiracy? Wasn't he traded for a 4th round pick or something? Karlsson was a 20ish point guys who scored 43 goals in his first year with Vegas? I don't know if anyone would have predicted that.

Ok thanks. Yeah I was totally expecting us to school them in the PP dept. Its like our PP could score at will it seemed. I remember the PP mostly playing on the perimeter we couldn't get anything into the front of the net. We made Thomas look like Patrick Roy he could see most of the shots. We didn't want to make the sacrifice and we expected to win playing at the same level as the regular season. The tighter checking nullified any chances that we did have.
-
I don't remember the exact number but I believe we had more PP's then they did. That's fine that we tried to get more PP's and hence better our chances of scoring but we did nothing to respond either on the score board or at least engage more physically. It's like someone told the team that they can't show any aggression at all. I say it was the Leadership, or the Coach, or both who knows.

You think so? The resiliency has been so overwhelming to this point. I keep waiting For Hill to have a bad game but he has been flawless since coming in relief of Brossoit. With the forwards , its like its a different line that comes up big for the team at different times. Eichel and Stone are the stars but you have guys like Marchessault and Karlsson who find ways to score key goals at very key times in a game or series. Vancouver had a hard time beating San Jose in the first round! I think the teams resiliency and the ability to overcome advsersity are quite different.

Not dumping on them just stating facts. Put it this way, The Sedins and Luongo did not perform like Marchessault and Hill during the final. Not saying they were overly bad, just that they did not lead us to victory where I believe the opportunity was there. That team they had behind them was no slouch. Check out the Sedin's and Luongo's regular season stats then look how they did in the final. I think the PP itself went like 2-32 or 3-32 something like that. Then do the comparison for players like Hill, Marchessault or Stephenson. It wasn't just them though, the whole team came out flat in the final though and no one performed and I think we were actually shut out in game seven.

No, I am not one of those "Beat a dead horse" kind of guys. it's all good. I see what you mean. For me, its the difference between the regular season and the playoffs is why I said" I am entertained". The regular season is so boring where I have actually have fallen asleep during some games. The extra effort and the emotion of playoff games displayed by the players is what I like. We already know we are going to get bad reffing, just like we know there are going to be injuries and not all players are going to perform as expected. I see at as a part of the game, good or bad.

Was the blow out BECAUSE of the Officiating? Think about it. Vegas was 2/4 on the PP and Florida 0/4. Yes Vegas's 1st goal was a PP goal but their other PP goal was at the end of the game when the game was already far over. I don't know what you expect to do, its been like this for a long time what are you going to do ,stop buying merch? Stop going to games? Really what can be done? I see teams overcoming adversity, whether its bad calls from the ref, injuries, poor performance of 1 or 2 players or WHY. Its how the team reacts. One of the reasons I like how Vegas plays is that they dont let anything bother them and they continue to stick to the program and remain their structure. Its quite a sight to see because I wished our beloved Canucks played that way too. THEY DON"T MAKE UP EXCUSES FOR LOSING! Having that mental toughness is something we don't see very much of around here. Look at Tkachuk and Bob, they are starting to show cracks in their structures. They looked so strong but crumble when their team really needs them, that says alot, and I really liked Tkachuk before recently. I enjoyed the game and I guess not everyone can be entertained. Some people get so invested in one team or the other though and they let their emotions get the best of them. Thats why I said its just a game, relax a little bit.
