  1. Yess!!! One of our plugs taken off our roster. We have a couple of more Calgary if you are wanting another? Seriously though, I liked Leivo but right now we have others who can replace him and young prospects to be given a chance. A couple of years ago, players like him were needed on this squad, not so much anymore.
  2. We are chalked full of plugs on this team and people still want to add more? Leivo is a big no thanks too. Tough it out with what we got and take advantage of the teams with a gluttony of players they cannot afford. There are going to be more "Deals" like Schmidt in the future we just have to be patient. We are thin on defense at the moment though.
  3. Jake was producing at about a point per game when he was put into the top 6 and Boeser played in the bottom 6. I think Boeser produced 0 points while he was down there too.
  4. I dIdn't realize it took Bert so long to blossom. He really didn't start scoring until his 5th season and really showed what he could do in his 7th season in the NHL. 1996–97 New York Islanders NHL 64 10 13 23 68 — — — — — 1997–98 New York Islanders NHL 52 7 11 18 58 — — — — — 1997–98 Vancouver Canucks NHL 22 6 9 15 63 — — — — — 1998–99 Vancouver Canucks NHL 32 8 8 16 44 — — — — — 1999–2000 Vancouver Canucks NHL 80 25 25 50 126 — — — — — 2000–01 Vancouver Canucks NHL 79 25 30 55 93 4 2 2 4 8 2001–02 Vancouver Canucks NHL 72 36 49 85 110 6 2 2 4 14 2002–03 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 46 51 97 144 14 2 4 6 60 2003–04 Vancouver Canucks NHL 69 17 43 60 122 — — — — — 2005–06 Vancouver Canucks NHL 82 25 46 71 120
  5. Depends on Green and if he wants to continue to "baby" him like he is a minor leaguer. Let him play in meaningful situations and give him quality minutes. I am sure he will see a different player if he changes his aproach with him. I agree with another poster in that he can pretty much bring what Toffoli gave us. Mr. Green? He is a much better player then Mr. Ericksson so please don't try to ptretend otherwise, thank you.
  6. This is how I see him as well. He has been learning like all of our other prospects "How to be an NHL regular". I seen way more energy in his game when he first came in , remember the McDavid hit? Then I seen him tame his game down and he was told to learn how to play better defensively. I believe he has been doing that for the past couple of seasons now playing mostly on the 3rd and 4th lines. I would be satisfied that we did all we could with him once he is put in the top 6 to see if he can put it all together. Without that opportunity, I don't believe we have seen if he has that potential. Once he has been given that opportunity, I will be on the same train alot of you are on and making the bid to move on from him. Until then, I think the potential is still there.
  7. "Paying" him and "Playing" him are two different things. Minimize the damage and keep him away from this growing, developing team who are learning to be Champions, he is no part of that. There is no more room for "Softies" on this team anymore.
  8. I remember when he first broke in that if he got in scoring position, the puck was in the back of the net. The goalie didn't have a chance. Now, I have seen him get into prime scoring areas and shoots and the goalie makes a save or he misses the net completely. Especially on a couple of breakaways he had. Its not there anymore and I am not a believer in him being a 40 goal scorer anymore. He is still a smart player and playing with the likes of Petey are automatically going to get him assists. Not to mention playing on the top line and #PP. Oh, and by the way, I watch every game they play.
  9. Lets look at the stats shall we? YR GP S S% Assists 17-18 62 179 16.2 26 18-19 69 209 12.4 30 19-20 57 169 9.5 29 His first season when he played 9 games his Shooting % was 16 so the first 2 seasons he was fairly consistent. Then it has dropped the last 2 seasons. As far as the playmaker statement his assists are pretty consistent for the past 3 years so I don't see the "better playmaker" becoming evident.
  10. Nope! Apparently that spot is reserved for Lui E? Coach thinks his "Defensive" ability far out weighs anything else important on this team including developing our young prospects.
  11. I agree 5 Million is a big reason to stay but I would think in the ,very least, he is working with the team to have something worked out where he is paid the majority of his money but he doesn't play here. Develope an itch or something so he can go away gracefully. I really don't care how he does it but he is a huge detriment to what this team is trying to achieve and both parties have to see that. I see the situation getting worse the longer he remains on this team. I sure hope something is in the works for everyones sake.
  12. If he had any pride left he would. I would be embarassed both in that locker room and on the ice. He is lucky there is no fans because I think he would get Booed.
  13. This guy is buttery soft and has no offensive skills what so ever. He has minimal defensive skills which should be served on the 3rd or 4th lines. He has no business being in the top 6 let alone playing in the NHL, period. Lets get the prospects in there so we can see what they can do, I am done with this loser.
  14. This is so true, we should have learned from hanging on to the Sedins too long once they were done. This guy is holding this team back, big time. I would be p!$$&d if this guy was on my team making the money he does playing the way he does. He is a cancer plain and simple, get him far far away from this team please, at what ever cost its going to take.
  15. When I first started watching him, when ever he was able to get into a good scoring position, that puck was buried and the goalie had no chance. Now, I have seen him have numerous chances where he was one on one with the goalie and his shot looked "normal" and the goalie made easy saves. I really thought he was going to be our next "Bure" and I was relieved to have a "sniper" on our team again. I am thinking that he has wrist problems still as I would think they would be using his one timer on the PP. It was nice to see it in the playoffs but they never attempted to use it all year. Even others were saying to use him on one side and Petey on the other on the PP with their one timers. Anyway, hoping he scores more then 16 goals this year.
  16. His lethal shot that he had when he first broke in is no longer there. I don't see him as a "Sniper" anymore, a good smart player , yes, but his days of scoring at will are behind him. Maybe that tape he wears on his wrist has something to do with it I don't know. I believe he was moved around because he wasn't producing, which became worse when he was moved out of the top 6. His point production, and especially scoring, is trending in the wrong direction.
  17. Never mind the players what about us fans? It boggles my mind how this guy is playing ahead of numerous players and how he made the line up in the playoffs was a real head scratcher. I want to WIN D@# it ! and not watch this franchise feel sorry for this guy and play him just because. I almost want to turn the TV off once he comes over the boards, I thought Hockey was supposed to be entertaining?
  18. Apparently he is thinking we are still living like we were hundreds of years ago?
  19. As does "narcissism". Its funny how they are all eerily similar.
  20. I agree, we are currently cluttered with these " in-betweeners" and we don't need to sign more, especially when we are supposed to be developing prospects. If we are going to upgrade at a reasonable price, fine, but more "plugs" is not neccesary at this point.
  21. Man! Did the kid steal your girlfriend or something? You need to take those blinders off me thinks. We will see in a few weeks whether he is "Expendable" or not.
  22. I think , at most , he got a good 5 or 6 games in the top 6. Other then that, it was a period here or a period there or one or two shifts in a game, usually in desperation by the coach in the third. A PPG in the NHL ,when playing with legit players, is a little more hard to find.
  23. And there lies the problem. How do you balance "physical and finesse" in the top 6? We see what happens when you lack physical and you get b*&ch slapped by a weasel. How embarrasing for a hockey player. So you bring in a guy like Reaves but then you lack offensive ability. Very rarely do you find a guy who can respond physically, help out offensively and as a bonus, can keep up with the fast, up tempo teams. Loved Bert but he at times got lazy and he was not famous for his defensive side , but neither was Nazzy. I liked Burr but he was not very big, could not fight and had to resort to biting to assert any kind of aggressiveness. So complain all you want about Jakes lack of effort , or consistency or his fitness level but we do not have anyone to fill that spot at this time. If Ferlund is 100% healthy, then fine, but I somehow don't think that is the case. The other problem? Willy D had Magma and Kaput and Green has the Empty Net Specialist, Lui E, gross.
  24. I think he already showed what he could do but it went right over Greens head ,or what ever, who knows what is in Greens head. I really don't care who he puts in there as long its not another softy or agitator or whatever we have failed with in the past. So tired of the push over team we have been for decades. Jake exhibits a different kind of player we NEED! If I wanted to watch ringette or non-contact hockey, then I would be cheering for Lui fr@%$*#ng Ericksson! Some like that kind of hockey, I guess, I kind of want something more..........Oh and a Championship would be pretty nice too.
  25. No "scoring" is not the only thing that matters I actually am concerned about the WHOLE TEAM and really am not too concerned what players do off the ice either. Like others are concerned about. This team lacks size, aggression, checking(especially bigger teams),support for our younger smaller players and speed. This is even more so with our top 6. Just like when we had the Sedins, Burr and Kesler were the only ones who provided this for the top 6. Bertuzzi was the last player I believe fitted this bill. Burr and Kess lacked the size, aggression and Burr wasn't very fast. Jake is no Bert but he at least has attributes which we lack in the top 6(see above). All this while able to produce a little offense, unlike Mr. Ericksson who is currently supplanted in that position. I believe Jake is a waste playing as a checker. I thought he was being put there to learn the defensive part of his game but it appears Mr. Green thinks thats all he is(a checker), even though Jake's stints in the top 6 tells otherwise. This is where I get Jakes frustration in which some see as lack of interest or consistency. He played with a lot more energy playing with Miller and Petey but I guess the coach did not recognize that. I am sure you would see more "effort" with him playing on the top line, but thanks to Green, I am pretty sure we will never get a chance to see if that is true or not, sadly.
