  1. Probably the best thing I've seen in a long while...

And I'm not even a Zeppelin fan

Brilliant!..I'm muttering "Moby Dick" like Captain Ahab...

Kids bring such joy to music. Makes Zep feel like pure fun, doesn't it?

Well, like I said, I'm not a Zeppelin fan nor a fan of 70s rock in general, but I recognize the level of difficulty in the song she's playing.  And to do that at eight-frikkin'-years-old???  I wasn't that good at anything when I was eight.

I'm conflicted on this. On the one hand she's very talented. On the other hand, at 8 years old, it's clear that her parents pushed her into music at an incredibly young age in order to have been able to master it so far at the age she has.

The conflict comes as a result of not allowing a child to naturally gravitate toward the things that they enjoy, but have become good at the things their parents want them to be good at/place a high level importance on. It's clear that she's likely naturally gifted with music and since it came at such a young age, it's likely that's all she's ever known as far as a hobby, but it's probably been a lot more than just a hobby.

Naturally talented people will devote their time to the things they enjoy doing later in life, and if it is something that becomes a career ambition they will succeed. My wife and I expose our kid to all different kinds of activities so that she can experience the multitude of choice available to her, and so that she can make up her own mind as to what she prefers to do.

Not saying these people are bad parents, far from it, but I think they like a lot of people succumb too much sometimes to the desire for their kids to have monumentally greater lives than the ones they lived. These viral videos of kid prodigies imo is a bit much.

What happened to letting kids have actual childhoods? The pursuit of money and greed is beginning to groom kids for lives that they may not have necessarily chosen for themselves.
