  1. I wonder if Toronto would be interested in a Sergachev/Drouin type deal with us sending one of our top prospect Juolevi for either Johnsson or Kapanen. It will help their defence and cap situation while we get a needed forward.
  2. So the Nucks have their current core of Horvat, Pettersson, Boeser, Hughes, and Demko which means we need to build up the team depth. And with a league salary cap and how salaries have been going, your depth players must be reasonably value for the money you are spending on them.
  3. I favor locking him in for 7-8 years. He will only cost more later on.
  4. So if the Nucks swap one bad contract for another, we shouldn't sign the addendum as part of the condition of the trade. I think this is a good idea as it could free up a spot for the Seattle expansion draft.
  5. Yeah, I think we should just let the goalie situation play itself out between Markstrom and Demko. Anyways, if you want to trade a goalie, what about DiPietro? He is on fire right now in the OHL playoffs and you would be selling high. Also, young goalies are more easily replaceable because they go later in the draft.
  6. 2014: Ehlers 2015: Boeser 2016: Tkachuk 2017: Glass 2018: Bouchard
  7. I would give it til the 2020-21 NHL trade deadline because Seattle will begin play in the 2021-22 NHL season. Before then, if Demko have shown enough, maybe Markstrom should be the one traded. Tampa had a similar problem before the Vegas expansion draft and decided to keep Vasilevskiy over Bishop who was moved around the trade deadline for Budaj, Cernak, and a swap of picks.
  8. That is true...so you offer less and if Seattle don't accept you lose a player. By the time the expansion draft comes around in around 2 years time, you will have a better handle on the goaltending situation so it is not necessary to trade Demko anytime soon.
  9. Well maybe or maybe not. We could always make a deal with Seattle to pick someone else when the time comes.
  10. I'm not blown away by Ristolainen underlying numbers. I rather keep Demko with Markstrom as a tandem. Even with expansion other teams will have to expose one of their goalies so there is no guarantee Seattle will be selecting one of our goalies since there will be a huge selection to pick from.
  11. We haven't had much luck with these lottery type things in the past. Hoping it will be our turn to be lucky this time around.
  12. So the deal works out for both clubs. It goes to show that buy low sell high works. In this case, both Gudbranson and Pearson were at low points in their careers and after the trade the change of scenery was good for them and their new teams.
  13. I thought Glass was the safer pick, but Petterson could still turn out. Like last year when we picked Juolevi over Tkachuk, I could see Petterson compared to the ones we didn't draft like Vilardi, Glass, etc. in the future.
  14. At 33, I would take a chance with Mismash. He got better over the year.
  15. Hopefully, we will get a couple of good seasons from Eriksson before his production falls off.
  16. Burrows had a great career with the Canucks, but now on the downside of that. I'm incline to let him play out his contract (one year) and give him the option of retiring, let go, or getting traded to another team.
  17. I thought the drafting of Boeser is a continuation of what Benning started last year's draft with Virtanen which is players with a blend of size and skill. With the 23rd pick, I had Boeser as my pick too in one of my draft systems so the potential is there for one of our 2015 picks to make it.
  18. If he is still there at the 36th spot, Quenneville might be a good pick.
  19. Yep, It sounded for the most part a buyers market. If sly Shero wasn't willing to trade his better prospects, it was wise of us to hold on to Kesler for now.
  20. Last summer, I felt we could have gotten more for Schneider. However this time around, the Luongo deal looks okay. We got younger and bigger and size matters when you go up against the heavier teams like the Ducks, Kings, Sharks, and so on. Markstrom is like 6-6 and Matthias is 6-4 & 220 lbs.. The former use to be a teammate of Lack in Sweden 4 yrs. ago where he started ahead of him so there is potential there.
