  1. I don’t like granlund at all
  2. I think that’s awful. Moving down out of the top 15 to unload an expiring contract that is an asset to cap floor teams and could be a trade chip at the deadline theyd very poor asset management from my perspective
  3. His off the rush offence is what your referencing and Virtanen usually just overpowered players from the outside. he wasn’t that creative in his play making or how he created chances. Nate drives offence in lots of different ways and he creates space to elevate his line mates. He does use his reach size to his advantage but so does every big forward. Jake scored so many goals by going through defenders on the wall or just burning by them and shooting it clean through a goalie. And it was quite a big % of his offence which are not how most goals are scored in the NHL hard to project selke at this age but he has his coaches praise, he has the commitment to not cheat at this level and play the right way and he showed well against bedard when they played against eachother and he had to shadow him. He also has the physical tools to matchup well
  4. hard to imagine Calgary trading such an imapctful prime position with us. And why’s he want out of Calgary? Would he even resign here? Hughes- Hanifin-Hronek We’d have to draft a RHD for Hughes who’s name starts with an H? bear / woo / wallinder / Reinbacher / Johansson / Myers etc none of these names will do..
  5. Cs - Dvorsky, Danielson, Wood Ws - Benson Ds - Willander, Reinbacher, Simashev my personal edit of yours I really do think Wood is a C. He’s planning on slotting in the middle next season. And developing as a C in NCAA. woods college coach also has pumped wood up huge about his IQ being 10/10 and I think the move back to C for him makes a lot of sense. next season he will be a little faster, a little stronger, a little more confident and playing C and he’s gonna have a monster year
  6. I used the word players ceiling though and you took it as draft day projection. a players ceiling is their own personal ceiling. And draft position is irrelevant once drafted when achieving a players peak. But garlands an nhl player and has been successful. That’s like saying you could never compare Duncan Keith to any dmen drafted in the first round or any non drafted player to a player drafted? people develop differently and take different paths. i agree the expectation on benson will be greater and he’s a higher end prospect but it doesn’t mean you can t compare players that had different draft day experiences or expectations when comparing how they ultimately project as pros and the risks that come with it. i find the logic a little broken. Maybe I’m missing something though
  7. 2nd line C aren’t the easiest to acquire. And neither are great 3Cs imo but ya RHC and RHD are premium assets. Both of them
  8. Ya that’s not him. Those guys don’t get too 10 consideration. he’s getting similar consideration like Horvat. the difference between them in their draft year is Horvat had a better team, better line mates and a great playoff run. Danielson carried bums, is much more of a play maker whereas Horvat was and always has been more of a finisher, both great on faceoffs, but danielsons 2 way play and details are better and he’s a much much better skater than Horvat was in his draft year. watch the kid play before you pass judgement. He’s very good. Even if you just only had time to watch his season highlights from this year you’ll see how he skates, how he distributed the puck, how he shoots, his size, might even see some plays where line mates don’t finish amazing set ups cause they are bums etc. the way Nate plays the game is very translatable to the NHL imo and in a stronger team system with better line mates he would have been an absolute monster this year. His coach and scouts who like him also commend him for not cheating to pad his stats he always did the right thing and played the right way. He’s a great player who could be off the board by the time we pick. What you are saying is if you read scouting reports on Horvat basically. Lots of the public scouting reports usually aren’t that perfect.
  9. Canucks acquire sharangovich and barbashev next season Defence: Hughes-Juulsen Wolanin-Hronek Brisebois-Myers 3C: Dries CDC:
  10. I enjoyed that hadn’t seen it. marks interview style is bizarre to me though. Like a robot. I like his questions but he’s not got the best vibe / tone lmao like zero personality I’m super bullish on this kid. If we pass on him it’s gonna be tough to follow him post draft. Kid in our back yard, physically freak, super skilled, and super determined to be great I’d love to draft him and I really do think he’s gonna play C next year and have a hell of a year
  11. I have a hard time basing Bensons abilities off that one playoff series where they lost so multiple players struggled on the team to play their games. I don’t think their offensive styles are identical or How they carry the puck. And garland stays on the outside and spins much more than Benson does. i also think Garland size is a greater factor than bensons. I think this is very important too. garland was 5.75/5.8 when drafted and honestly even though nhl team list him at 5 10 I call BS. And his weight is basically that of Benson rn. Benson at the age of garland measurements will be very different I think. And their could be 2+ inches in height difference. also garland has one of the shortest sticks in the league. Based off last year comparing boeser and garland 100%. But would you take rookie season boeser or bubble season boeser over garland last year or year before? but Out of: willander reinbacher danielson wood dvorsky simashev benson benson would worry me the most for sure. I’ll support the pick if we make it and I’ll be excited but I’ll def be nervous. honestly all these kids have concerns, but they also have paths to project them being highly successful and good fits here. let’s hope they get it right. And let’s hope if we take benson he is a special player. I def agree he’s not a C though. Lekkeriamki I really really like and I’m super excited to see how he plays next year.
  12. Forgot we need poolman and pearson to stay hurt too
  13. Bedard is a unicorn though. Benson in his draft combine interviews has told teams and media he’s a winger. I mean you can project him there but if the player themselves are saying there a winger, they probably a winger. coild it change over the next couple years on his path sure, but right now it looks very unlikely he will be a C at the NHL imo
  14. Well we need: - a 3C preferably RHC that can kill penalties and provide some offence - top pairing RHD to play with Hughes, or they patch it and wait for Bear - TOP 4 LHD to play with Hronek - Bottom pairing LHD (PK / shutdown guy) to partner with Myers if he’s staying - mikheyev to be rehabbed and good to go - kuzmenko to take a step in his all around game and still produce like he did last year - petey and Hughes to maintain last years performance or with the help of god take another step - Hronek to be rehabbed and as good as planned - new D unit to mesh together - PK to not be cheeks - boeser to not be a plug or a slug defensively - beauvillier to be consistent - JT to play C like he did down the stretch - demko to play great and stay healthy - back up situation to now sewer our hopes - to stay relatively healthy as our depth is thin - if keeping bear we need him to come back and not take too long to get back into form - to start the season strong - a miracle or two - podkolzin to contribute much more than he did last year - garland to find a role and / or hoglander to push into a spot and contribute consistently - and one more miracle - Aman and Joshua to build off last year - team to be faster and stronger after a better offseason training
  15. He’s not really a projectable C though. He even says himself he’s more comfortable on the wing and is projecting his career on the wing. Who knows maybe it changes but based of his faceoffs in Jr him taking draws in the NHL seems very unlikely. i do think he is a very responsible wimger though that often covers C ice D zone responsibilities down low and he could be a very impactful forward in the D zone at evens from the wing. but projecting him as an Elite C is tough when he doesn’t identify to be a C and his draws are dreadful and he is on the smaller side
  16. Well if we talking complete fairness I’m fairly sure Garland wasn’t drafted his draft year. And was the following season. And if you read what I wrote or previously about them I don’t think they are great comparisons. I do understand the connecting lines that have been drawn and discussed previously here though. i do think Benson is a higher end prospect though for sure. And I’m not the one pushing the comparisons but they actually do have some similarities. So it wouldn’t be fair to not acknowledge those.
  17. Boston University^ the rivalry will be vs Boston college but ya love the path. If it goes really well I wonder if it will become more popular for Swedish players hurting their program there with the SHL
  18. Boeser didn’t have the frame of Wood. Wood is 3” taller. guys like But and Simashev are kinda unicorns to be 6 4/6 5 and be the kind of skaters they are. I see a kid that can improve his skating and I like his skating more than some other first round forwards in this draft. I’m sure teams have their skating coaches analyzing his stride And mechanics and determining if they think it will be a problem or not.
  19. I think his defending was mostly effort + skating ability but it wasn’t sound suppressive D it was kind of A scramble . If that makes sense ya I think he’s going to need time to learn how to defend better especially when dealing with NHL forwards on the forecheck / boards / around the crease etc agree about fabbro
  20. That’s what I was saying don’t get why he was listed there
  21. Should have a back end of ALL puck movers lol. And our Pk we just try and score go our own path
  22. I’ve watched him play a lot. I think he moves better than some internet / public scouts written reports say. for a player his height and age his skating isn’t horrible and it looks like it can and should improve over the next couple years. i don’t buy the compete ? Either. he’s a very competitive kid. And wins a lot of puck battles without even being overly physical. Which is something that he could grow into with time too But ya he does have big boom potential
