U don say that i think this group is patient with prospects. stay positive!! See what they do at the draft and this off-season moves.
-
I think Perreault is more boom / bust, and Wood too. But I agree there are concerns on how likely Benson is to absolute smash his ceiling. i mean your perception of safe / haymaker will differ from our scouts list. but we need a hit for sure. This pick is pretty high pressure to be a player for us.

I have a very confident feeling Wood is a C quote me next year if I’m wrong EXPOSE ME

I’ve discussed the comparison of Garland to Benson with @hammertime he would agree with you. I’m not going to talk about +/- so don’t ya worry. and I understand how good Bensons teams was I’ve used it as a cross comp for Danielson. As I do believe if you swapped them danielsons production would of been much greater. But he was the best player as a draft eligible on a stacked team. Not just the player who produced the most. And they were also in different leagues at far different times. so stats wise I don’t really care they both produced like monsters. Garland plays a little differently then Benson though. But I can see the comparison lines drawn. I still think garlands measurements are shocking I do not believe he’s taller than 5 9 he looks 5 8ish at most. And the league even makes comments about it. Benson is a little taller and I do think he will add more weight to his frame than garland has ever. Since garland is so so light. i also think garland is near what Bensons floor is. I think bensons floor would be positive impact at evens and a solid pker. But the upside is top line winger. i can’t remember if Garland was an effective pker in his draft year though was he? But Benson is. And being a defensive forward in 2023 in the WHL vs garlands draft year in the Q is much more impressive to me. sometimes undersized guys hit there ceiling sometimes they don’t. Garland didn’t. Benson could. im not sounding the horn to pick him. I have my reservations. But I won’t be upset if we do take him. - Dvorsky - Willander - Reinbacher - Simashev - Danielson - Wood - Benson are the guys I’d be happiest about taking with our pick. players who worry me the most are: - barlow - sale i could imagine Alvin saying his name so quickly at the podium with his accent and CDC erupting. Even if he hits and ends up being the BPA the reaction would be nuts.

Well they need warm bodies. They need to get to the cap floor. And garlands not a bad player to have. And he won’t move the needle for winning games as by his record playing for losing teams lol so could be a fit the term might be a bit long for them though that’s the only hiccup I see there is a world they could put him in a top 6 role with some pp time and maybe flip him in a year or 2 at a deadline for more than they paid us -

I get wanting to hope for the best but ya a return for garland will be very minimal if even possible and that’s the reality -

I think if they could move him to a team like Chicago for 3/4th rounder straight up they’d do it just to free up the roster spot for hoglander and ofc the cap space lol -

The only world Dumba signs here if it’s one year to play with Hughes to pump his value for next offseason and it’s just not gonna happen and he’s not signing for $4M. Seeing what Severson and Gavrikov signed for not in an inflated UFA signing I think Graves could get really overpaid now and it scares me. soucy is a LHD not a right and penciling HIROSE in is bold. Not saying it’s impossible it’s just not likely this year. im all for signing soucy though depending on our other moves he could be a good fit at a good price. mans Barbashev is going to be getting maybe $6M he was just a beast on a cup run and will get an inflated price due it his unique player type, cup win and performance, and being on the open market. acquiring a Sissons or signing Rodriguez as a stop gap at 3C works for me! Our next trade we make will really show the path forward. -
Ya majority of the hockey world can see why this had to happen and how it can work out favourably for us. let’s hope the cap does goes up!
-
Not necessarily. It could just be the evaluation of OEL, them betting on their pro scouting to replace him and build a better D core with the cap constraints they have and giving themselves a lot of breathing room to make moves or be creative this off-season where a lot of teams are in cap hell. also trade negations just got easier for us as we aren’t in a position of weakness : desperation now.
-
Well we don’t have any OEL IFS anymore to think about. Didn’t see the full context for sure just hopped in there.
-
Looks terrible but let’s hope guenther busts and we get soemthing for garland so it just looks like one of the Canucks worst trades and not the worst trade in league history lol
-
OEL didn’t work here. He wasn’t going to work he. It sucks but there is a path it works out better than keeping him for the remaining contract. OEL had to be replaced regardless of being bought out or not. we needed a top 4 LHD to push him to a third pairing anyways. And with Hronek now he wouldn’t be getting any PP time unless there were injuries.
-
No from my understanding is it’s 2 years. Then he’s free. and Millstein is his agent which I didn’t know till yesterday. so if any team had a good understanding of his situation it would be us. i mean I’ve watched a bunch of videos on him now.. the way he’s played in the KHL is pretty insane for his age. And the way he skates, moves the puck, protects the puck against men at his age is pretty unreal. His points are kind of shocking when you watch his highlights. And i haven’t watched full games but maybe he’d have some secondary assists if they tracked them you know. But he looks very projectable

We are lucky that most of the prospects in our draft range oook to have quick paths to the NHL. Even Wood and Benson could be making the jump in 2-3 years too. outside of those guy I don’t know Moore, Yager ASP need more time. Actually Honzek could be a quicker timeline too and Musty. this first round has quite a number of players that could be in the NHL pretty quick.
