  1. Button weighs international play heavily, the hlinka, world jrs and u18s broberg showed very well at the hlinka and u18s and had a strong combine. Pretty sure this is why he’s high on him
  2. He played on North American ice all year? He runs the pp off the halfwall he’s very similiar to jack hughes Hes a fantastic skater not sure why you hate on him so much
  3. Yea just hard to imagine our rebuild being fully successful when teams ahead of us continue to draft higher than us and other teams have more and more draft picks than us. we have done pretty well with our core 4 but neee to do better still if we want to be a contender defn have to have a strong day 2 and find some gems
  4. Ya zegras has a high high ceiling. Plays a similar style to Jack hughes, he’s very talented. Wed be lucky to add him.
  5. Sorry but send me a link or quote that confirms that. Unless your meaning of that is like he doesn’t just take guys wide and try to beat them with his speed? But that wasn’t the way they were coached to play in jr or the way he plays. But that doesn’t mean he’s not fast or a strong skater. While I think Caufield has a lot of similarities to Debrincat I feel debincats skating was at a higher level during their draft years. im 99.99% sure he fell in his draft strictly because of his size. And some thought he just rode shotgun with McDavid. But he proved To be a play driver, primary points showed for that. And his skating was strong enough to keep up with the fastest player in the game without ever looking out of place or behind. I’m sure Caufield can improve his skating though. It’s just more comforting when taking a player that small that skating is a strength rather than a knock.
  6. Ya who knows how it’s gonna go really. At least we know we are getting a high ceiling player regardless. problem is though so is every other team
  7. I think some GMs see flashes of hedman and are getting seduced!
  8. You also think debrincat wasnt a strong and fast skater in jr. whereas I thought his skating was one of his strengths. but that’s the beauty of this all everyone has this draft ranked so differently. From us cdcers, to expert analysts, scouts and teams GMs I’m sure. will be a fun draft day for sure!
  9. I’d be very happy with Boldy as well. there really isn’t anyone I don’t want. There’s just some I have more concerns than others in regards to risk of reaching their ceilings. Dont sleep on Zegras though I’m convinced he could go top 5. If he goes before Turcotte I wouldn’t be shocked
  10. Zegras at 10 would be a steal but doubt he’ll be available
  11. Ya ! makes no sense they all want 6-7 year deals
  12. I’m sure the Canucks would love panarin as well. Especially on a 4-5 year deal. But neither will be happening. most likely not signing panarin and no way would he sign a 4:5 year deal if he was
  13. Gaudette has shown he is an NHL level forward and he’s just scratching the surface. His upside is still high. Think AG is being undervalued on CDC. My opinion. I don’t know enough about seider to make a proper decision on that. But with what I do know about Gaudette for sure and the little I have seen and do know about Seider I would say no. if our scouts think Seider has top pairing D potential with a very high belief in him achieving that and we made the trade id accept it. But it would be a very risky move
  14. Really? So if canucks got offered a mid to late pick in the first round for AG you would take it. Can you explain why? Gaudette we took time in developing. Gaudette is a hobey baker winner. Gaudette has improved progressively and linearly at a very steady rate. He showed he is too good for the AHL in his first season there while going up and down. He showed some flashes in the NHL as well. He is on pace to be a middle 6 nhl C with goal scoring potential. Gaudette is tenacious and a hard worker. you want to trade that for a lottery ticket at someone who could potentially be as good or get really lucky and get someone better against the odds I wouldn’t be onboard with that at all.
  15. I’m pretty confused how is Kakko not considered generational be these draft experts? he has set a record for under 18 Finnish goal scoring in the Liiga. he won 3 gold medals including the gwg for the jrs and was a monster for the men’s team. which is also a record. dont get why people are so scared to talk this kid up more. If I was a GM I would take him first overall without hesitation. For us it would be hard we would probably take Jack for the Hughes connection but honestly I think Kakko Is an absolute stud and the best player in the draft. he is the most NHL ready, has the highest ceiling maybe the same ceiling as Jack with a higher floor. He already proved he can physically handle NHL defencemen at the WC. He protects the puck very well for a kid, he skates great for his size, he shoots the puck very well. Guy does everything and scores goals when it matters most. He also showed at the end of the year that he may even be a C as well. Like Kakko is a higher end prospect coming into draft day than: Barkov, Laine, Rantanen, Poolparty etc. Hughes I think isn’t as NHL ready as Kakko. He would probably benefit most from 1 year in College. But he’s most likely going to start in the NHL and I’m not sure if that is best for him but we will see. We will see its just so strange seeing how some of these experts talk about this draft and how they rank it. It’s just all over the place.
  16. Don’t wanna be a teams euro scout who slept on him do you! Haha
  17. Oh man Dahlin-Trouba would be a crazy top pairing
  18. You never know Dach could be there. This draft is really wide open
  19. Interesting - I thought he was talking about Newhook not Dach on that take. cause he says he’s so quick, better than everyone which makes him careless up the middle in his eyes. and watching newhook he does have decent size (weight for his height) he is playing at a level well above the league he was in, he does skate without disregard of his own safety imo and no one has made him pay the price. but he says he will learn and sounded confident it’s a lesson that can and will be learnt. i could see how you connect that to Dach though and maybe your right! Or maybe we are both wrong haha
  20. I will throw up if this happens. But yea it really is possible and not hard to imagine him there..
  21. I kind of agree and I kind of don’t. The part of me agrees with not to force us back into relevance by trading futures for players to help us win now. But adding a star player through a trade would do that. And adding one through free agency is just salary cap. A number 1 dman is worth it IMO. I mean if we are able to resign Edler for a reasonable amount and if we got EK for preferably 5 years. I’d go 6 MAX. 7 would be too long and 6 would be too but if going from 5-6 years would be the difference in getting him or not I would do it. EK in playoffs even not at 100% was still playing big minutes at important times, he produced offensively and made fantastic breakout passes. He was slow to loose pucks and made more mistakes than usual, but I would atribute this to playing hurt. Comparing Keith Yandle to EK for age and production he’s 32 and had a fantastic year. EK takes his conditioning very seriously and is one of the best defencemen in the history of the game. Even if he loses his mobility with age he will still keep his puck skills and ability to pass the puck. This was evident to me by the way he played hurt. i think he can be a very productive player till he’s 34 at least, barring injuries of course. Injury risk is higher on the westcoast and especially for canucks defencmen. I believe time on ice for dmen is a big factor though and having both edler and Karlsson will bring great balance to our d core. Edler-Karlsson Hughes-Tanev Hutton-Stecher I think this would be the best dcore we have ever had, and Edler-Karlsson would be the best pairing in canucks history for the next two years. Having Edler and Karlsson would shelter Hughes In his rookie year. He would also be a fantastic mentor/ role model for our younger dmen: Hughes, Stecher and soon to be OJ. Karlsson would be an outstanding quarterback on our pp to Boeser and Petey as well. And Hughes could run our second PP with Edler available for either if required due to penalties or deployment. Signing Schenn would be nice to have as a physical depth dman to slot in when needed for injuries or for physical games where the coach feels he is required. I really liked him qith hughes down the stretch and we all know Tanev will get hurt so I wouldn’t mind having him ready to go. at the end of the day it’s up to EK where he goes. But I’m sure we will be making him a pitch because players of his caliber are hard to get. We have never had one in franchise history. Also - if we factor in that going into next year If the mandate is to progress then we will be in the same range as last year if not better. Adding EK would likely elevate us to wild card contention if things went well. The draft position we are looking at now doesn’t really matter especially with the lotto system now. Just my opinion
  22. Yea Vegas wouldn’t even trade with us cause thy knew we wanted petey. Sedins took him out for dinner even I’m pretty sure. i would saw who we are interested in most at 10 wont be that big of a secret amongst the other teams decision makers. if this interest in broberg is the smoke id say there is fire.
  23. NHL teams lists will have wide variances as well just like these experts. Makes the draft more fun
