  1. I’m sure it was just moments bad judgement and there wasn’t a lot of thought behind it.
  2. I don’t think this is a good comparison both from a hockey perspective and it just doesn’t sit well in my stomach reading it. Kopitar was the first and pretty sure the only impact NHLer from Slovenia. He came with a different scouting profile and different risk than Podkolzin or any Russian or Euro player for that matter. I believe Bourdon got the bike well after being drafted. It was also a freak and tragic accident.
  3. Yea Russia hard to judge just numbers because the inconsistency in match ups / teams / minutes etc and none f us watch the games so it’s hard. but by the numbers I agree with everything you have said. i haven’t understood the high podkolzin ranking all year, just took it on the scouts and analysts word. But from what I’ve seen no way I’d take him top 10 especially when you factor in his KHL risk. Which is very real. Even if he is there at 10 for us my instinct would be to pass for Krebs/Boldy/Newhook.
  4. 48 is savage. didnt like most of his work, but pretty meaningless on the grand scale. I’m sure if I had to produce content as often as he did my work wouldn’t always be great or positive either. 48 is brutal though manand his family robbed of a lot of time. Sad. reminder not to waste our time.
  5. James Neal and Subban would be big time gambles for the club. very expensive players that had down years. James Neal unexplainably looked like a different player this year. Similar to erikssons sudden drop off from Boston to Vancouver. He looked very slow and not dangerous at all. his reasoning: short summer to prepare his conditioning properly. Now if we are planning on being a playoff team how is that going to improve for him as he ages and we start making playoff runs? He’ll get less time to train in the summer and he will be older. PK scary, potential distraction in the locker room and play consistency might drive us crazy. his play this year wasn’t very impressive to his salary level. And his playoff performance was very poor. Will our new core like him? Jovocop this morning on radio said he wouldn’t want to take the risk of him not gelling with our new core. Said maybe it would work out but he wouldn’t do it. On the positive both players don’t have trade restrictions I believe so they could be Seattle draft fodder and we could do whatever we want with them if their play drops. If they hit though Where Neal rebounds with a 25 goal season and PK puts up a solid season as a top pairing dman that would be a huge boost to our group. Neal-Petey-Boeser Pearson-Horvat-Leivo Baerstchi-Gaudette-Virtanen Eriksson-Beagle-Roussel Edler-Subban Hughes-Tanev Hutton-Stecher Schenn its a big expensive gamble though. Can’t see us doing it.
  6. I’d love to see him back in the league if he’s still able to play, one of the best
  7. 19 goals easy explanation - who passes him the puck?
  8. I find dmen so hard to project, whereas these forwards look like as close to sure things as can be
  9. I’d take Krebs. But I’d be very happy wth newhook or zegras as well. what do you think about SN and Craig Buttons projecting us to take Harley over these forwards?
  10. Yea no problem! Its just my opinion though on him, and a small sample size of games. Maybe if I watch him play a few playoff games it would change the way I see him. i just think he should have been a dominant force all season and he really disappointed. i wouldn’t take him over (not in any particular order here): Hughes Kakko Dach Cozens Krebs Newhook Caufield Turcotte Boldy Zegras and I would take Kaliyev before him. I just dont see him becoming an impact nhler and forwards Krebs/Newhook/Boldy (3 of my personal favs) I think all three have higher floors and ceilings than him.
  11. Haha well it happens maybe he skated better the games you saw. Kind of like how we saw Krebs differently throughout the year,
  12. I watched a few regular season games and wasn’t impressed. He looked slow and sluggish to me. his regular season numbers were disappointing to me considering he’s older, bigger and was suppose to be ripping the league up. This playoffs hes our up the numbers that was expected in the regular season. I havemt watched a playoff game of his tbh but from what I saw in the regular season and what will be available at 10. Id much rather take a player that has performed all year long, is younger, a better skater and has a higher ceiling: newhook and krebs boldy and zegras This U18 Tourney solidified my position on Krebs but it has Newhook stealing my attention as it confirmed he is a player. I’d be very happy taking either of them at 10.
  13. Hes a monster but he doesn't play a complete game and requires others to generate opportunities for him to finish. Watching him is interesting cause he is super deadly. Him and Caufield have the nicest release in the draft. But Kaliyev isn't always engaged and is passive when it comes to getting the puck and what not. He would need a line built to facilitate him completely right now and his game might not translate to the NHL as is. He needs to put some work in and will require dev time to make those changes. But he is undoubtedly one of the most offensively talented players in the draft. His interview will be important for him.
  14. Yea imagine if we did that.. I’d be crushed
  15. https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/juniors/sportsnets-2019-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings-march/ this is also had Harley going to Canucks. taking Harley over Boldy I think would spark some heated discussion among fans. 1 - Cause a lot of us are on the: Boldy Train, I’m on the Boldy/Krebs/Newhook wagon want any one of them 2 - taking a lhd dman that majority of scouts and services have ranked lower than 10 over a high skilled forward will make everyone think of juolevi/Tkachuk I wont be upset if we take him. at least if we do take Harley we know he’s has a very high ceiling. hea got size, skating, offensive potential and improving in his own end. He compares to chabot and is one of the youngest in the draft class. His production didn’t waiver after the team traded away some top players through the year. I’d make peace with the selection and hope for the best. but it would be really hard to pass on Boldy/Krebs/Newhook or another fallen forward.
  16. True - but trading eberle for nothing and the hall trade just crushed them
  17. These aren’t his rankings though. his list is how he projects players to be in the future. this is his mock draft who he believes teams will take at their draft spots. example Virtanens year he had him like 40 something or something like that on his ranking list. And he had him going 6th overall to us in his mock draft. to me this says 2 things. 1 - he doesn’t do rankings based on what he thinks a team should do 2 - I think he considers what scouts he sees and interest levels he hears from insiders and team reps throughout the year and factors them into his mock. So perhaps the Canucks have a high level of interest in harley? i don’t know I personally want one of these what look to be can’t miss high ceiling forwards that will be available. but if we took Harley I’ll be hoping big time for him to be the next chabot..
  18. I was one saying chant st SJ game, but he wasn’t playing even ahah
  19. Have to agree Krebs and Newhook both look better in this tourney than Cozens
  20. Yea same thing I said - I’m pretty surprised craig said that about his skating. newhook looks super fast to me so I’m a little puzzled!
  21. I don’t watch liiga games so I’ve only seen him in this u18 tourney and it’s hard when the Finnish team isn’t that great. but I think the big differences between Heiskanen and Heinola are 1. skating - Heiskanen skating is fantastic and better then Heinolas was/is 2. Goal scoring - Heiskanen scores goals he scored 5 goals to Heinolas 2 in their Liiga Seasons 3. u18s - Heiskanen was like 2pts per game last year and really stole scouts attention at the international tourney last year. No one was even talking about him much until then. 4. Defensively - Think he was more solid in his own end, but maybe that was because his team Was better overall hard to judge i don’t think we will be taking Heinola with the high end forwards that will be available and with our positional depth on left side right now as a small added factor. i could see Heinola or Lavoie going to Montreal at 15.
  22. He’s on the Caufield train. 3rd overall Cole He wouldn’t bat an eyelash at this point he’s really proven himself on a big stage with his peers. I still think he’ll have to work on his skating and elusiveness so he doesn’t get hurt badly in the NhL going into trafdic areas or dirty areas for goals but hard to argue with the kid being a special goal scorer. i thought his take on Newhook was interesting, he said he’s good but not great in regards to skating and compared him to Stillman. Everything I’ve seen from Newhook is he looks incredibly fast on the ice to me. So maybe he means his edgework and stride aren’t great and wasn’t referring to his overall skating speed? Unless I need to get my eyes checked. Like how high craig is on Krebs though.
  23. Some scouts have different questions than others but for sure I’m not disregarding that. just saying he’s the kinda dman a team could get seduced by his physical traits and potential and rank him higher then others overlooking his decision making and current hockey iq
