Yea and the C position draft position premium too must be taken into account - he’s gonna go high and zegras
-
Boldy or Krebs would be fantastic to add to our left side. im incredibly high on Krebs- he’d look fantastic beside bo or Ep Imo if he was on a better team he’d be higher on rankings. This is the first draft draft in awhile I’ve not been stressed about our draft position top half of the first round are all solid prospects.
-
Wow this kids a stud...
-
If we end up not getting a top 5/6 pick I’ll be a little disappointed but honestly if we snagged Krebs 7-10 range I’ll be ecstatic... im so confident his game will translate and think his playing style would mesh with our group so well.

Kakko could go 1 tooooo
-
I honestly think 2 years ago people were and even last year. It’s just this year by staying on the national team his progress and stalled. He’s not challenged.
-
I just don’t think you have seen him play enough. If you base it just on the world jrs I could see that comparison. problem with Hughes is he didn’t challenge himself this year by staying on national squad. It would have been better for him to have gone to an NCAA team like farabee and Wahlstrom or a Euro men’s squad like Matthews did. my opinion just differs from you, maybe you have seen him more and that’s what you see and maybe you will be right time will tell. I have been wrong on my fair share of prospects lol!

You need to readjust your thinking. Hughes puck skills and IQ are elite elite. Him and Kakko will be the top 2 picks without dispute. And both for good reason.
-
My opinion (I am high on him): He has the best wrist shot / release in draft that I’ve seen. I have him really high on my rankings. if he goes outside of 10 he’s gonna be a boom or bust steal imo. His shot is NHL quality so it’ll just be how he adjusts to the time / speed and strength of the NHL and his compete level / play without the puck.

True would be nice to have some more pinballs aka statistical number combos for the lotto That’s a really big tease for div rivals I just don’t see edm trading 3 first rounders to us. Bouchard a 1st and pool party is a lot. Let alone edler waiving to go to a disappointing non cup contender / div rival. I think think we will be extending edler not trading him but never know

Not to be brutal but asides from some nice passes and breakouts I saw a lot I didn’t like from Hughes. He got caught holding the puck too long too often and felt he was trying to do too much at times and it just didn’t work out for him. Of course it would have been nice to see him have a killer tourney but guys like Necas, Zadina, Kaut all had pretty bad tourneys and by no way does that mean they have gotten worse or will be awful in the future. So I’m not going to read too much into it. i would like to see Hughes commit to his decisions quicker because once he’s in the NHL he is going to have less time to make plays. I really think he needs to work on his shot so on our PP they will have to be aware of him and not just shadow Boeser and petey. But i I do think he is very talented at drawing defenders into him tight while dishing out beautiful saucer passes. Imagining this and teeing up petey and Boeser for one timers or to feed an attacker on the rush with speed like horvat or Virtanen is easy to visualize. Im still very excited for him and at the end of the day this tourney will just motivate him to work on all the parts of his game that need it.

I really don’t think you can go wrong with either Hughes or Kakko. i personally think Kakko is the better overall player by a very small margin who has the physical tools and skill set that would mesh perfectly with our group. Hughes creativity, IQ and skill is off the chart though and that with Pettersson, Boeser and Quinn Hughes would be very tantalizing. Also the Hughes family connection to the club could influence the decision. But who are we kidding we won’t be getting either of them anyways boys and girls.

Not a fan tbh wants big money and has choked in playoffs don't think he's the right fit for our team
-
Fair the past two years the NHL has changed quite noticeably in speed and importance in skating, I just feel this will pull Lavoie down rankings and I don't see that much difference in him last season compared to this one like Dach for example has shown great improvement from last year but Rasmussen is a good example for your point in size and if he's high on a teams list sure
-
Don't forget you were saying top 2 conversation for our teams scouting list, and sure my opinion could change by draft time. But as it stands I'm not impressed by his skating and I dont have him in my top 10. i think if the draft was today he would go 11-15 range. to start: hughes kakko dach cozens Podkolzin Byram im convinced these 6 as it stands would go before lavoie for sure. Then you have: Boldy Turcotte Zegras Broberg Krebs Kaliyev Suzuki Who could all arguably go in any order and in front of lavoie. using Zadina as a comparison, I think Zadina is a much better player and was a better player in their respected draft years. Zadina also separated hinself with a Magnificent world jr performance (something lavoie won't have the opportunity of doing) and slipped down the draft nonetheless. I would expect lavoie to be drafted even later. we shall see, we have different opinions clearly and if you want me to quote you and Lavoie is your guy start adding the E on the end of his name and yes I am very high on these three: Kaliyev Boldy Krebs especially kaliyev and Krebs, think Kaliyev is just ridiculously deadly in the offensive zone and he's going to rise and rise on teams rankings as the hockey season goes on. And Krebs if he was on a different team with more offensively talented players around him I believe his numbers would be video game like. He's a very talented kid who would fit in with our teams core very well
-
100% if he was on more offensive team his numbers would be much greater. hes a very good player and I wouldn't be surprised if he's high in our management/scoutings list
-
It's crazy because on paper they look great with a mix of vets, kids and elite talent but they both just have terribly unreliable goal tending
-
Lavoie prolly won't even go top 10 at at least I wouldn't have him in my top 10 and most certainly not top our 2 for the new nhl his skating needs work and I like lots of wingers over him like boldy, kaliyev, krebs we will see when when it comes closer to draft time but Canucks are focusing on good character kids, who can skate and have big offensive potential I think we will have higher ranked options at our pick then lavoie.
-
What have you watched to build this opinion? Have you ever watched him play a full game? Just wait till world jrs.. you will see
-
Agree - loved his compete, his energy and how hard he battled for pucks more of this!
-
Kaedan maybe Byram we may have no shot at if we keep playing even close to the way we are right now all season lol it's crazy if you told me by November we would be 1st in Pacific, 2nd Overall in standings with Edler Tanev sutter baer and beagle hurt I would not believe you.. i really like Kaeden though and Kelowna has something special with dmen. Would love to snag him with a late first.

Cool read thanks for sharing too much makar chatter in here I think lol so this article was especially nice
-
Truly happy to see his hard work pay off!
-
So many quality options exactly it's crazy

This might be the only season I can remember where I haven't been obsessed with chance of a top 3 pick. i honestly think the entire top 15 are all high potential players. asides from Hughes, you go down the list: cozens byram kakko dach Podkolzin turcotte broberg Lavoie Suzuki krebs kaliyev honka Boldy wild card Newhook and more like all all these kids look like they have big ceilings.. maybe it's recency bias or kids just keep getting better and more skilled.. I'd seriously be happy with any of those kids, of course a top 3-5 pick is better, but this year I'm not really that concerned and won't freak out when/if we lose the lotto.
