Thing is this, plus you wonder how much of his success this year was due to his "magic" chemistry with carter verhaeghe, I am expecting Perlini to go 8th because of that chemistry.

Couldnt even imagine our team if we got 3 top 15 draft picks and took: Ritchie, Virtanen and Tuch. We would be the new physical monsters of the league if they all developed properly. Ritchie, Tuch Kassian Virtanen no one would be able to complain about size ever again. Obviously it wont happen but the thought of it would be cray

I am surprised you say this There it is, I never did look for a link tho aha, he emphasized big power aha Ritchie/Virtanen/Perlini more the first two. 39 goals and 74 pts in 61 games without strong Centre man is not elite JR offensive production? What are you talking about.. 5 years ago Kassian went 13th Ritchie had a much superior draft season than Kassian, Scott Glennie went 8th, Ritchie owns him. Kadri --> 25 goals 78 pts in 56 games with a strong supporting cast. 7th overall B. Schenn 32 goals 88 pts in 70 games 5th overall Nick Ritchie would def be in the mix in the top 10 in 2009, and his size would make him a very attractive option, I know i am just posting stats, but I find that ridiculous to say and I have posted my full opinion on him multiple times , please look more into Ritchie I really dont think you have, read more, watch more. He is a complete player.

Numero cinq orange Yea those are strong points I really wont be upset if we pick Virtanen at all, I just want 1 of the top 4 forwards or Ritchie/Virtanen, no matter what I think we will all be pleased in June can feeeel it in my plums! Although I am feeling a Sam Bennett present, I do not think even SNYPERS would be sad with that

Who is that? sounds made up

The "I would like to see Torts stay for at least one more year" thread.

Sure lets keep him! If we would like to be 1-Bored out of our minds watching terrible hockey! 2-Experience another injury riddled season and due to our lack and high risk to injury play 3-Watch Kesler play 30 min a night 4-Watch the sedins as our number 1 PK unit 5-A player a game or more limp off the ice from a blocked shot, hoping it isnt a fracture 6-See some gooooood ol DUMP N Chase 7-Enjoy ridiculous and honest interviews 8-Hope for another charge at a locker room to "get the coach" 9-Hope for him to make a fool of himself 10-Increase our chances of drafting Eichel or Macdavid I am not 100% against tortz I do like his honesty, I do like hes a man of his word, I do like that he will stick up for his players, I do like how his antics do draw negative press away from his players, I do like how he is with young players, but that is it. I do not like his stubbornness, I do not like his temper (little man syndrome), I do not like how he has a system that he will force- he will not use a system based off player strengths, and he will force it. I do not like blocking shots reg in the reg season, more of a post season thing in my opinion not every single game night in night out in the volume he would like, I do not like how he does not respect our travel with the minutes he distributes, etc, etc. -
[Confirmed] Jim Benning signs as new Canucks GM
R3aL replied to TheRussianRocket.'s topic in Canucks Talk
Here is my vote for GM -
I know this is pure speculation/ pure imagination like willy wonka, but I am visualizing and imagining Sam Bennet dropping to 6th like Doug Gilmour. Ekblad Locked in 1 or 2 Reinhart Locked in top 2 Dal Colle has locked him self into the top 5 with his strong year and playoff performance Draisaitl is locked into the top 5 with his overall season play, physical maturity and leading his team. Ritchie/Virtanen one of them or a GM high on Kapanen/Ehlers will sneak in to the top 5. Whether it is Burkie taking a big PWF or Snow taking a high skill player. Leaving Bennett to us. I feel he could have dropped his stock with the injuries due to his style of play and the need for him to gain strength and some weight. This is my draft day Vision

Looks like hes having a strong game! , will be nice to see how consistent he is throughout the tourney nada from Nylander so far lol

I am by no meens a Kapanen pro, or very knowledgeable in the finnish leagues. How does Kapanen measure up to Mikko Koivu draft year? Food for thought M Koivu played in Sm-Liiga his draft year with 1 assist in 21 games and was drafted 6th overall. Kapanen 14 pts in 47 games And even in the last lockout Koivu played 10 games and had 10 pts but he was in his prime than, just fooood for thought, as I know zero about Kapanene or the finnish league.

I like with gaunce how he is under the radar like Merci said, Schroeder received more criticism and pressure than Gaunce has at this pt in development, maybe because expectations were lower? I do not know but Gaunce has a really solid chance of being a serious contributor to our team in max 1 year, if he does not make the team in camp, after 1 yr in Utica I think he will be NHL ready. I am also a Gary Roberts camp fan which is encouraging.

I like Tkachev, but that really wasnt that impressive of a goal, really just shows how terrible the def is in that league... This draft has a wealth of high skill 5 ft 9 guys it is shocking
-
My exact opinion for that pick plus Cornel for 2nd round option, and of course a notable slide form the first round. I have interest in Kamanev and Hunter Smith as well
-
Shinkaruk Etem Kassian Fox Gaunce Virtanen Ritchie Horvat Cornel But what of Cassells and Jensen!
-
Hard to imagine Linden sells this as his plan to F.Aq. Lol fun to imagine, but not fun to imagine a year worse then this one again and how the fans/ticketholders would react
-
Well that would be quite the prospect tandems/combos!
-
Lol i like the confidence! IN YOUR SIG!

Rick Nashs draft year was really not that impressive his playoff performance was, but he also had a few good players on his team, including dennis wideman and a young Corey perry on an always deep and well coached Knights team, and his plus minus was still terrible. And look at Nashs draft year,,, top talent was much weaker then this years. His draft was so different and Fs were poop!!! This draft is not weak, it is just weak in comparison to last years and next years in depth, the top 5 are as solid as they come. And the top 10 in this year is F heavy whereas 2002 it was D heavy. This is become an argument not a discussion/conversation, you feel the way you feel and it is your choice to be stubborn, I respect your opinion just not the way you are delivering it.

Ritchie is left handed sure, but he prefers playing on the right side, but will play both sides comfortably, his handedness is not an issue. I agree a blend of RHS and LHS forwards is ideal but it is not necessary to success. SEDIN SEDIN BURROWS have found years of success and all of them are LHS? I believe both Getzlaf and Perry are RHS I could be wrong not 100% sure, but I do not see that slwing that duo down? Choosing the BPA will not have Shot handedness as a tie breaker, I feel shot handedness is more important to D pairings then forward combinations. And I already have, on the page before, I listed a bunch of wingers, Ritchie is W not a LW he can play both LW and RW and their are many wingers historically who have carried their lines and Power wingers, I have a list at the end of page 75 and it only took me a second to do. Stop being ridiculous, Ritchie is an awesome prospect and how can you limit his potential, all these kids potential = sky the limit. Can we just agree to respect each others preference then? I prefer Ritchie over Virtanen, you prefer Virtanen over Ritchie.
-
And why argue Ritchie DID carry his line and team 2 years in a row. Without him they = nothing.
-
Parise, Kovalchuk, Nash, Ovechkin, St Louis, Perry, Hossa, Iginla, Kessel, Elias, Vanek, Jagr, Ladd, Bure, Steen did earlier this year, Pominville, Alfredsson, Ray whitney, Kariya, Tkachuck, Bossy, Andreychuk, Shanahan, Selanne, Hull and Hull, Howe,,,, ETC Bolded are "Power" wingers who def can carry a line, let alone a team. Rest are wingers who did or can carry a line. Arguable that Lucic has carried his line in the playoffs.

In the context of what you were saying, I meant we picked him because he was much higher than 22 on our scouting board, I remember they were surprised we even got him. They did not care about an attitude concern at all because they felt he was a steal at 22. I have watched him his best plays come off the rush, I do not think cycling the puck is a strength of his. Zero big body argument at all, it is just a pointer that it is a bad habit to develop in JR trying to make contact in the form of full hits while carrying the puck. Ritchie does not do this like Virtanen does, he will fight through checks when needed while carrying the puck but that is very different. It was not about bullying players with their size, both do this of course, Ritchie even more so on the boards, but I think that is a better habit of engaging contact on the boards without the puck, then almost looking for contact while carrying the puck. Maybe I am not explaining what I think well.. Either way I see Ritchies game translating better to the NHL, based off many things I have listed in other past posts. Do not get me wrong, I really like Virtanen, I agree his speed is very attractive, physicality and I love his shot. I just personally prefer Ritchies overall game to Virtanens. I really do not see speed as an issue for Ritchie, his skating is rather explosive and agile as well. I am not hating on Virtanen, perhaps you should stop hating on Ritchie as 1 day you could come to be his biggest fan!
-
As well as the constant reports of Jake only being able to develop offence off the rush and distinctly unable to cycle the puck, I have read and seen this, he also engages in hits lots when he has the puck, that will not translate into NHL success. I cannot think of any players who actively and constantly engage hits with the puck, something a bigger body can get away with in JR but not in the pros. I prefer Ritchie over Virtanen and I am sure our scouts will as well.

Schroeder was like 6 on CS and 15th on TSN ranking coulda been worse like we could have been Stars and taken Scott Glennie in the top 10 and just been devastated he just doesnt improve.
