Lol true, too bad he didnt play his first against us
-
Just turned the game on and we already losing... DAT FEEL DOE YES! :)
-
Yea pretty safe to say we can all expect a much stronger Knights squad come memorial cup time once the can regroup, injuries suspension etc everything! Pretty surprised they lost this series! Chalk it up
-
Well he is the second best dman in the draft, he has a big frame still will fill out some, is mobile, I see him as a 6-10 pick and only because the draft is thin on dmen. Normally I would say he is a 10-15 kinda pick, but this draft he will likley go 6-12 for sure. His best attribute is his mobility for his size, vision and outlet passes, knows when to join the rush.. if his offensive game develops he will be a great pick up, see him as top potential: #2 Dman, most likley a top 4 guy, worst case a 6-7 dman. So I think he is a relatively safe pick, but dmen are hard to determine (See Cam Barker), except for the special freaks like ekblad etc. They usually need quite a bit of time to mature, adjust and develop their game to NHL standard/pace. Look Bogosian, Grudbranson they all take time.

Yea he is ridiculously wrong
-
Very bold statement, and I really doubt Kempe/Fiala/Pastranak (Never spell it right dont care) will be taken before Nylander It is debatable who will go first Kapanen or Nylander, but these two will undisputedly go before the other Euros
-
You are right I may very well be underrating him, thing is I have never seen him play a single game, but I just read something interesting saying scouts are thinking he >>> Teurvo.. Yea I havent seen him or Nylander play a full game sadly
-
http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=88636 As you can see NHL and CSS ranking always sucks, for example there it had Zykov number 7 and horvat 15...I have never liked CSS rankings or NHL "expert" mocks, I think they are usually terrible. I will hold my tongue on Ehlers from now until Bobby Mac releases his last ranking(His rankings are usually pretty decent) and the draft combine, to see his real/ up to date height and weight.
-
Nylander/Kapanen/Ritchie/Virtanen/Ehlers/Perlini We will be leaving draft day with one of these guy.
-
I think he has no physical deficiencies, but i think he needs to wok on the mental side of the game, IQ vision etc. It will come with experience I would hope, he has all the RAW tools to be an impact F.
-
Hockey Prospect had him at three at the end of Feb, McKeen currently have him at 5, with MDC at 6.. Craig button had him at 7, etc etc. He has risen in the rankings steadily over the year.. SMH
-
Drouin is around 200lbs, he may be taller than drouin but weight and strength wise he has as ways to go, and I agree he should easily get up to 185 and build his strength up to mackinnons current size at a minimum.
-
We still have two games to lose!!!
-
Seeing as he started the season at 162-165, I think it is safe to say he has not lost weight, especially since he has addressed the need and been training and playing all year. Looks like he is low 170's right now, and come combine day yes we will see exactly. Very bold statements you are making, slightly ignorant too. Kid is still growing, and he is a KID, this was his first year playing in North America and he put up Mackinnon/Drouin like numbers, not bad company to be in, and if mason raymond can be an NHL regular I see no reason why Ehlers will not be. I see Ehlers frame being a mayray frame at a minimum, with a much higher skillset and potential. I am not the biggest Ehlers supporter but I do see him as a top 7 pick now, and there are reasons for it. And for a little context, MDC was 171 pounds at the start of the season I would much prefer Leon or MDC over Ehlers though.
-
Yea that was super class y by iginla and the flames when linden retired, I am sure their will be some respect shown towards smyth. Heres hoping oilers rebound after being shutout, their goalie fasth has another strong night, they have a surge of energy for smyth, and the kids hall eberle and nuge have one of their big nights, eberle usually plays well against us anyways! PLEASE LOSE canucks
-
If we pick 6/7 and MDC falls to us I will cry,,, I will be so happy! Buffalo- Bennett Edm - reinhart jk! Ekblad Florida - reinhart Nyi - Draisaitl Calgary - Ritchie - although I doubt they pass on MDC Carolina- ehlers/nylander/Kapanen Us- MDC Whatever seems like a long shot to get MDC but if 1 team takes a risk higher on ehlers nylander or Kapanen we will have A Chance! Just curious who here likes Ehlers>Nylander ?

you are having visions! -
I hope he has a great year in Utica and a long look in camp! AHL time would be great for him though, and a summer working on his speed, will be beneficial!

A mix of these three would be amazing! Would be an amzing mix of guys running the show! I would have full faith in them to succeed! -
He has unbelievable vision, passing, an eye popping shot, ridiculous stick handler, amazing skating speed, if his shot and stick handling dont garner your attention you may wish to either A) watch some full games, I was guilty of this before Jan, because all he does is WOW me. I like Virtanen a lot as well, only thing is both these guys need years of development, they both will need 2 for sure 3 prolly and 4 maybe before impacting the team. Guys like Leon and Michael even Ritchie look like they could make an immediate jump or are 1 year away. I really am hoping We lose lose lose, and Calgary keeps on winnnnning! Top 5 pick is what this organization needs!

I think the concensus is that if he north american or from sweden or finland and he weighed more he would be 1st overall. Some GMs have come out and said they think hes a top 3 or 5 guy, Tallon has compared taking Kane a similiar risk to taking Ehlers. Ehlers looks like he has NHL game breaking talent, which Power Aids is right, that does not grow on trees. And Merci keeps raising the overall team size issue, but not all teams are built like SJ LA Boston Anaheim, we are more of a Detroit and Chicago model in my opinion. This year we were relatively a large team, how did that work for us? We need to have a blend of size speed skill, and if Ehlers is the BPA when we pick then so be it. I see what you are saying Merci and I am not saying your wrong but players with Ehlers skills/vision/talent/passion/speed etc etc they win games. and his only issue is strength and weight. Both can easily be taught planned and executed on, through a well thought out plan, dedication/commitment to the plan and time. I am at the point with Ehlers where I have him ranked 6th in my mind now: Ekblad Reinhart/Bennett (Coin flip) Draisaitl Dal Colle Ehlers Then a jumbled mix between Ritchie/Perlini/Virtanen/Nylander Then McCann Fleury Kapanen Scherbak Tuch Barbashev Pastrnak Fiala Goldobin (Value risk after 15) Kempe Milano Larkin McKeown Fabbri Deangelo Honka Ho Sang Schmaltz Vrana Demko

They keep our hopes for 4th alive, now we need to do our part! In response to Ehlers weight and Height there are way to many discrepancies on all the sites: Heights: 5 10, 5 11, 5 11.5, 5 11.75, 6, 6 1... I have seen all of these, and some may have been right at one time some may wrong its tough. Weights range from 159-184 I am guessing he is around 5 11- 6 ft in height currently An for his weight I a guessing he has gone from 162-164 --> 172-174 currently Based off how he looks and everything. Just from growing up and maturing the next two years he will gain 5-10 pounds and if he makes a conscience effort to add muscle while keeping his agility and explosiveness I see no reason why over the next 2-3 years a 6ft 185 pound speed/skilled based player wouldnt be a very conservative projection. I am torn with ranking Ehlers, he is one of the most exhilarating prospects I have ever seen, just ridiculously explosive and creative and skilled. It will be very intersting to see how scouts differentiate : Ehlers/Nylander/Kapanen And same for Ritchie/Perlini/Virtanen Those two trios in my opinion rankings will be very subjective!

Watch his highlight videos, to see flashes of his speed vision and high end skill Kid is a natural leader, solid two way player, plays hard in all 3 zones, strong character, was once touted in same range as McDavid, obviously McDavid has differentiated himself far far away from Jared now, but he has all the intangibles that would translate into a big NHL game in my opinion, he will just need time to develop. His playing style would aim to emulate bergeron I would think. I have only watched a few full games of him play but he competes hard, battles for the puck, goes to the dirty areas, and can really use his speed to separate himself from the D, he also has decent vision and IQ as he finds open areas. I think next year his numbers would improve quite a bit, and surround him with some high end talent he would be a top scorer next season, MY opinion, and I really like his game
