I don’t think it would be damaging at all for optics. Since it was a forced QO deal. And boesers agent was just on Donnie and Dhalli today and confirmed how he’s in Constant communication with Alvin in regards to boeser and they want to balance what’s best for him and for the Canucks. Whether that is with a change of scenery or here in Vancouver. Think his salary and teams cap situations are what makes it trickier and depending on retention and the salary of whatever piece coming back to us it’s kind of difficult. So I think salary cap complicates the deal more than any optics consideration. im wondering what’s bothering boeser this season. if it’s the impact of his father and the grieving which I’ve read can literally alter your brain chemistry or if his hand injury has affected him much more than my understanding is. because he looks lost on the ice at times, a step behind physically, mentally, doesn’t shoot or find soft spots like he use to. Doesn’t control the puck like he use too, doesn’t win or engage in puck battles on the boards like he use too. It’s been tough watching him this season.

Do you think there is any chance Leonard plays C next season?

I lost all faith in tank simulators after the Auston Mathews draft year. I won first soooo many simulations it was sad haha The Canuck curse is real. But curses can be broken! Winning the lottery this year would be what the doctor ordered

I dont think there's any Vaccine talk to prospect JL? But regardless some people truly did have adverse affects to the vaccines. I for one am. It took about 6 months for my Heart issues to fully go away and feel lucky it wasn't permanent but was an uncomfortable experience. We should keep this about JL and Canucks Prospects though as we talk hockey here! And all things CANUCKS:

(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller
R3aL replied to combover's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Thanks! Why wouldn't they have he appetite for it? Do you think they don't want to move him after just signing him last summer or that it could make our rebuild timeline potentially too long for their plans? -

I have to agree with this. I'd very much like to trade him. Not sure when his NTC officially kicks in. Like if he could be traded all summer? And it saris when next season officially starts. But adding JT on retention for the remainder of this contract then a team acquiring him has the summer to figure the money out. Would be the equivalent of a team trading for a Rental and if they wanted to sign him as a UFA his contract number would be similar to this on the open market anyways. I think JT is very movable. -
Would have to be a 4 piece deal at minimum in my opinion. 1st isn’t of much reward from NJ at this point Mercer is a nice piece but it’s not clear if he can actually be a top 6 C or a Winger or a 3C. Nemec is nice but he’s completely unproven and don’t know what level of dman he will be in the NHL. He looks like he’s having a good year in the AHL but he’s not anything like Hughes in breakout / offensive NHL impact. Hughes is a complete proven superstar and at his age he holds immense value. I think I would need: Mercer Nemec Mukhamadullin 1st but even then I’m worried we could lose the deal and about the effect it would have on petey resigning. Quinn Hughes isn’t just one of my favorite players we’ve ever had. But he was my most celebrated / ecstatic draft pick I’ve ever had the pleasure of following pre draft and watching and anticipating on draft day. I never thought he’d slide to us especially with Detroit picking before us and all the connections The only way we move him is if it’s a complete over payment. A premium 4 piece deal. And even with that deal I’m still very unsure. But NJ has a lot of pieces they could part with to make a deal to overpay if they wanted. Whether it would be smart for either side would depend on so many variables. a massive Hughes trade to me would cement a demko trade and a full rebuild of us being a bottom feeder next season too.

A little adversity to overcome can make for a stronger and smarter person. staying optimistic this injury could be a good thing for him as his focus is now on next year and his health.
-
He’s already confirmed he’s staying in Sweden next year I heard. but ya rough year hope the same. Just focus on recovery then a big work summer to prepare for a big rebound year.

Draft Rankings and Draft order will sill shift around a lot and we could have some surprise risers too down he stretch super excited.

Interesting comp. i actually like his skating. because he’s not slow. Yet his technique looks like it could be coached / improved. It looks like with proper attention / intention to improve it he could really level up. I don’t think he’s the kind of player that needs to be a strong puck handler soft touch passes : playmaking quick shots to finish plays Puck protection I feel like he won’t have the puck in his stick for long as he plays F1 gets in on the forecheck I do really like him though so I’m starting to form A bias

I’m Bedard Fantili carlsson michkov benson smith but I agree it’s a tough choice between benson and smith since benson might not be a C and the size. Whereas Smith should be A RHC. but benson has more defensive ability to his game whereas smith is a little less detailed on that end. but I’m happy with any of those 6 and really hope our pick is in the top 6 I like all of them.

NJ PP not finishing

Stillman with the perfect screen on the ontimer and then the penalty HE IS WHO WE THOUGHT HE WAS the tank commander

Moore-Leonard is a really nice 2 way pairing I think. no kidding it’s a lot they are all so good. Cristall is pretty talented. He plays monster minutes though it’s a bit much. Barlow really excites me as a player. Not only as a finisher but I love like you said he’s a pinball meets a wrecking ball. I really see him stylistically like how Nichushkin was a force during the aves playoffs but with more goal scoring potential. Really like the way he plays. like you said a MENACE

Ya and 100% safe to say both dmen had more optimistic D+1 seasons

What a shot wow lmao unexpected

I think he’s fantastic and some of the local kids his age around town all talk super highly of him. my only worry with him is his skating. if he was a better skater he’d be in the top 6-8 probably locked in. maybe a team looks at his skating mechanics and thinks it’s something he can improve and takes him super high though because like you said his numbers are ridiculous. he’s really good at leveraging his size and has really great hands and a shot / puck skills to go with it. he’s a very interesting winger. this bracket of wingers to me all are interesting: Barlow Leonard - Cristall Wood i have much less ??? Concerns for Barlow and Leonard’s games developing and translating to the NHL whereas Cristall and Wood are super elite in some categories then have a glaring area to improve or overcome to do the same in my eyes.
-
I like the Larkin comp for Moore. Leonard is interesting like him a lot too. But I would draft Moore before him. Think he’s more of a line driver, and a premium position. who do you like more from: Barlow / Cristall / Leonard / Wood im liking them in this order: Barlow Leonard - Cristall Wood Barlow is my favorite pure winger after Michkov. Since Benson there is some uncertainty if he will be a C or LW, but with his faceoff performance looks like he could be a LW. But I like Moore over all 4 of these wingers. Maybe I’m too high on him though.

Jury is still out on this. i think it’s too soon to say. none have made the show yet or shown what their nhl impact will be.

I’m just gonna say fox and makar are both ASP height and they are elite dmen that can command a game. If he was Quinn Hughes height I’d be a bit more worried but he’s almost 6ft and could still grow a little. I don’t think his size is an issue, but it’s not an asset. I really like ASP though and like the way he plays. I think he’s going to be a really great NHL player. Simashev I’m very interested in too I’ve just not seen Enough and I can’t remember what scout / insider influenced my view of him. But he thinks he’s the best dman in the draft, thinks he has the most potential and his offensive game has room for growth.

I thought he was the tank commander too I’m confused

If we bought out OEL would replaced him with Graves would you think we improve?
