  1. I think it’s his next salary neg, waivers and he needs to work on some details
  2. Anyone remember who he hit or did soemthing a little suspect right after being drafted or soemthing?
  3. I had point as my comparable for him but Marner is a really great one too. Especially with the PK success he’s had. He really could be an NHL C but he’d have to really develop his FO technique I could see him as an NHL winger too tho
  4. Ya him and Owen Pickering are both trending really well rn
  5. I think it’s Benson or Smith there. Top 6 pick guarantees us a star I think.
  6. Well a Benson / Pelikka draft would certainly be exciting even if they lack size. defintely would need speed / size and grit throughout the lineups to be a successful playoff team or like you said extra potatoes. If we got ASP I wouldn’t expect a Hughes pairing. Especially since we have EP who could be his partner at the 2024 World Juniors and is trending up amazingly
  7. Hunter and Jordan 100% big misses. JL it’s far too early to label him as anything. he had a very rough D +1 year. Playing on lots of different teams, having Mono etc his D + 2 year will be more indicative of where he’s going. but he’s a player I have a lot of faith in that’s going to really start progressing again and by next world juniors he will have a lot of Canucks fans excited and have a very strong showing.
  8. To me Benson is on another planet than Ritchie.
  9. Those were BPA picks according to our draft boards on those days. C + D are just proven to be the most important position to build depth with through the draft. Of course if there’s a clear cut winger that’s the BPA take them. acquisition cost of wingers compared to C + D are evidently less. We have had a clear lack of organizational depth there too. with all things equal or even close I want us to prioritize these positions.
  10. I’ve seen him more than others and maybe that’s part of it since I’ve had more to dissect and be critical of. what I like most about yager is his skating and his shot. i think he’s super fast and as he gets stronger and works with a skating coach he could really hit another gear and it being a big part of his game transferring to the NHL. i also think his shot is fundamentally great. Like maxing out his power for his weight. And as he matures I could see his shot transferring well to the NHL in power. Having skating and a shot like that really carries him at the WHL and he has the power score from distance or overpower goalies from anywhere. i don’t think he’s a puck carrier, a player driver, a possession player, I think he can be inconsistent defensively like JT Miller at C and might be a winger at the NHL level. i think he’s more of a project pick then more of the top tier of the draft. You brought up Jake, I think Yager shot also misses the net a lot and reminds me of Virtanen kinda like that and also in regards to straight line speed and shot being the biggest attributes. But only in that sense as they are completely different in every other regard. i do think Yager has a high potential but he needs a lot of work: 1. playmaking / passing on power play / Hugh danger areas thst lead to quality scoring chances 2. edge work and some skating mechanics to make him make use of his speed and create separation better 3. shot selection and accuracy 4. play without the puck, looks lost on the outside looking in sometimes to me 5. C defensive responsibilities and then mature physically like almost every other 17 -18 year old does. i don’t see him as a top tier pick this draft currently. BUT, if he shows some improvements in his playmaking and play without the puck down the stretch here that would change my mind. Whatever team drafts him I think will have to be patient and I see his path to the nhl a little slower than yours. This is my current view of him. But i wrongly evaluate kids regularly so he will prolly have career like stammer !
  11. I just listened to the interview saying EP is 1 and raty is 0 rn lol but the way this kid is trending is amazing.i
  12. I’m super unsure about him. right now he’s super slight and obviously will get stronger and heavier with time. but he’s a shoot first centre and scores goals mostly in a way that’s not highly transferable. i wanna see him score in different ways and make plays for his line mates down the stretch here. right now I have Oliver Moore and Dvorsky higher than him. he would be a patient project if drafted i think and more of a mid round target for me.
  13. I’m very interested in Dvorsky I’ve barley seen him play though
  14. I’d be so happy if we got him somehow too
  15. Bensons style is highly transferable. And his Hockey IQ is elite. I don’t personally think he’s similar to Caufield and don’t think he will fall in the draft. I think Cristall would be the best comparable for dropping due to size. ya it’s very possible he could be our guy. michkov is really the most interesting guy where he goes. Caufield is also super short like he’s almost 3 inches shorter than Benson. I’m pretty sure benson and bedard are like the same height. Just shy of 5 ft 10
  16. Also look at this: https://www.eliteprospects.com/team/858/winnipeg-ice?tab=stats Benson is outperforming Savoie and Geekie. Two prospects who are older than him and were drafted with high pedigree last year
  17. As cool as some of the wingers are in this draft: Michkov Barlow Leonard Sale Wood Cristall Etc Etc. Outside of Mitchkov. If we were solid down the middle Id be okay taking Barlow as I think he could be like Nichuskin with more of an offensive ceiling and be extremely complimentary in a skilled Top 6 while loss driving play as a physical hound. But we need C and Dmen so bad and their asset values are so clearly head and shoulders above wingers. Im almost ranking wth out considering wingers which might be bad but when I rank right now im excluding Leonard/Sale/Wood/Cristall and even maybe Barlow who I really like. Right now my top list in needs: Bedard Fantili Carlsson Michkov Smith/Benson Moore Dvorsky Pelikka Reinbacher Dragicevac Barlow might be the only winger from the above list I wouldn't be upset if we took though since I do really like him. Dragicevac feels like this drafts Shea Theodore to me too. And I like him a lot more than I liked Korchinski last year and look how high he went not even factoring in handedness in value.
  18. That's fair, hes tough to evaluate right now. From what I have seen I have been really impressed though.
  19. Most lists are locking him into the top 5/6 so I would say no chance of 13. Think Yager is gong to fall a little form where howe was ranked pre draft though unless he makes some improvements down the stretch here before the draft. Cristall is the one I see dropping like Caufield due to size, and his hip injury or whatever injury hes dealing with right now.
  20. I think Jiricek is untouchable. But I think Ceulemans is touchable and would love to pry him out of there.
  21. I would agree he looked his best last season when Hughes was out. But, hes fundamentally just been awful this year. In his decision making, his mobility, his puck retrieval, his play on 2 on 1s, his puck protection. Hes been really hard to watch for me. I could see that working was a swap with Edmonton potentially on paper. But I just cant seat actually happening you know
  22. Boeser has had games on PP1 for a little stretch but in a position that was new to him. His best spot on the PP is in JT Millers spot. I am curious how this changes with Horvat gone and I am not sure he works in the bumper. Was his handedness makes it hard to be fed for a quick shot by JT like how JT would pass to Bo. And to be fair too Boeser he has looked a little better in the past 5-10 games I think. Not amazing but def trending in an improved direction. Id say Boeser is a good production player. Quietly produces even when playing badly. Last year and this year he's collected quite a lot of points without being a PP1 main stay and not being very good in general. I think we can find a away to boost him and garland with the new coaches, and with intention of continually giving them opportunities to succeed in the right way. And I hope we are able to trade them for something that helps us a little more than salary space.
  23. I think the only buy out I can get behind is OEL if absolutely necessary and if this season is only the start of his decline. And Stillman because its nothing. Garland I cannot accept there's no way to move him but if they do it Ill understand I haven't dug into the numbers like they have and just trust them/. I think its an interesting idea but hard to see it happening. I dont remember the last time we did a trade with Edmonton? I cannot recall any off the top of my head.
